I take it some of you will be boycotting sales of all Michael's albums that contain vocals that are not 100% his? i.e - 'Off The Wall', 'Thriller', 'Bad', 'Dangerous' etc? After all, other people sang vocals/backing vocals on these albums. If you're obsessed that everything has to be 100% MJ, then you better burn all your albums.

There's too much vibrato...I know Michael has incredible vibrato, but this sounds like somebody's trying too hard to sound like him.

Admittedly, after hearing that I can hear some Michael vocals in there somewhere, especially towards the end - I don't think anyone can fake the gravelly parts (if that makes sense lol)

theres a difference between using backing singers (which is pretty much standard procedure with any artist) and actually using someone to sing the lead of michael. of course mj has people sining backing vocals on his albums. but singing the lead is different kettle of marine life.

Imo, THIS is MJ but they've messed with it so much & added extra impersonator vocals to fill the track out (which is pretty much what Smooth said his source told him.

When it's stripped back this much it's even more obvious it's not MJ. This dude can't hold a note without his voice quivering. The ad libs are just cut and pasted on too. Horrible.

Wow...

I think you're getting things confused. The fans aren't going to destroy Michael's legacy... Sony, on the other hand, could by trying to pass off music as Michael's when in fact, it isn't (or at least 70% of it isn't). 5 tracks are reportedly Cascio tracks, possibly with fake vocals. Thats half the album! Are you seriously ok with that? :no:

This song, it's message, it's hook, was created by Michael - and people want to throw it in the bin because he wasn't here to finish it?

Unfortunately, as in 'real life' hate seems stronger than love, you will all get you wish. This album will now be a flop, and that will signal the downfall of Michael's Legacy.

I dont have direct knowledge of the workings of this album but can provide some insight as I have been part of Universal Music for just over a year, and what I do know is this:
There are a limited few put in charge of bringing an album into fruition, of which a lot of money is pumped by Sony as a company. A lot of the development is "outsourced" in a way that the parent label has no direct creative control over it's content. Sony Music simply fund the project.

A "conspiracy" or deliberate attempt to con the world would come from those Sony have put in charge of the album, the development and creative teams working on the album at an artistic level, and this ultimately trickles down to the Cascio's and the vocalist providing the track. They are aware of what has been done, and have not only taken the fans and family for a ride, but the very people who fund the project.

Believe me when I say this, Sony would be on red alert internally, in a major, MAJOR way. I think we'll know the extent of what has happened here when we find out who has "left" the project involuntarily.

In your opinion! In the opinion of the MAJORITY on this and other boards, is that he isn't - or that he's only singing a fraction of the lead vocals. It's not just the fans that believe this. Many people who have been close to Michael believe it as well, including (off the top of my head) his own family, Rodney Jerkins and Chucky (dancer in This Is It).

Thanks for the update, Smooth! :flowers: "Over 50% not MJ". Yes, certainly OVER 50% NOT. :doh: Although it would suck to have an album with something like 5 or 6 songs, I would take that in a heartbeat over 4 or 5 impersonator vocal tracks. There's no substitute for Michael.

Agreed. Even my wife who's not a MJ fan, but who likes him (and has ears) asked me: "Is this really Michael Jackson? I am used to much more powerful voice than this or is it the music that is covering the power of his voice?"

I sort of don't care if it's MJ or not because I don't like the fact it's such a different voice! I wanted to hear Michael not this doubtful voice. It was ok for him to release stuff like 2000 watts but now that he's gone I want to hear songs with HIS voice. :( I don't want to need to listen to it over and over again just to figure out if it's him or not. I don't want this!!

mike is on the chorus ...(which is not in the acapella) and on the bridge 2:00 + "all the news today..they say..." ..and on some parts of the verse it do sound like him...but not all!Because there are 2 people singin at the same time..duplication....

The main reason it's being protested is because those are not his vocals on the lead. I think I speak for many when I say that I rather no album than an album with any fake lead vocals. By preventing this monstrosity, I'd argue it's acting to actually protect his legacy.

exactly right! its about the lead vocal.. theres nothing wrong with having backing vocals by different people.. thats standard..even wth mj..but the lead er no.. or they might as well of just got robbie williams to just record the songs.

Jap on this Acapella i hear MJ absolutly. I think they mixed a bit to much on this Track. The Acapella sounds absolut diffrent to the final mixed Version.

I don't know if you're aware but you're talking absolute crap.

Deano, unless you are very young, you need to be able to understand what you type before you let it out on a public forum in such a way that you open yourself to personal attack. You cannot claim outrageous things like the entire fan community is harming Michael because we choose to trust our hearing. You may as well claim Pepsi is identical to Coca-Cola.

Do not try to veil your post by talking above what "love" is and how "hate" will bring down Michael's legacy, for which the fans are responsible for. Why is it that we must accept what we can all hear is false? Must we be blinded by our love for Michael SO much that whatever is officially branded as Michael MUST somehow be him. I have never before in my 20 years as an MJ fan, needed a digital editing program and a heart full of hopes to make me believe i'm listening to a legit MJ track.

There is not a single argument out there to sway anyones opinion who believe it to be fake. You CANNOT bring a single argument to the table and make me budge from my belief that we have been fed something worthy of last place at the Eurovision song contest.

Real Michael Jackson music is instantly recognizable. From a classic oldie to 2000 Watts and even more recent demos, you NEVER doubt what you're listening to.

I thought you would have quit by now. Michael's fans had no reason to destroy "Michael" album, myself included, do you think we enjoy this? This is a freakin' nightmare we are experiencing.

I tried to persuade myself it was Michael in the lead vocals (played with pitch a bit) but in vain. Yet just listening to a few seconds from snippet "Do you know where your children are" had me instantly convinced.

Please stop trying to make everyone feel guilty. We already feel awfull because of this fraud

You know, I actually HOPE that's what happened. It would be genius on Michael's part ;)

Michael knew our strength as an 'army'....so it's definately possible. lol
I've slept on it and calmed down a bit.....but wondering; are there STILL 'fans' who think it's Michael singing? :doh:
