BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For [General Discussion]

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

@ xthunderx2

Do you know if MJ's pic was also on the Pepsi truck? If yes, do you think it would be possible to buy the truck?

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

We've already made 90 pages here since those few days ago BAD announcement has been made. I need to go back many pages and catch up every day. I wonder how far we will be going these 4 months? It's damn long time

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Because I had found one thing or two. And here we are talking about a businessman Michael Jackson who had bought many music catalogs, who had generated billions of dollars to SONY, who knew the value of his own catalog. On top of that we are not talking about one single film, but a mountain of films. 123 concerts only for BAD tour. What about Victory? Triumph? and all other stuff? Even if you wanted to lose them on purpose you'd need hellova a place to lose them. Tell me how do you lose al these things? And sorry 25 years is nothing when we're talking about video industry.
You compare two different things. Like you say is "bussines", all what he have bought. But the way he may have handle his private belongings is other thing.
And its starting to be obvious not much with care.
first it was tons of unreleased and unfinished music, now seams it isn't that much left/found. where is it?
supposedly recorded and filmed concerts. Hmmmm!!!

I know Michael was praised alot for his bussines decision, but in private he wasn't very organized. he had people to handle his video archives. how good? Hmmmm....

And you witnessed all that to accuse MJ of being careless?

You are talking about his catalog as if it was a handkerchief that he threw away in the bin. We're talking about his catalog, it's all business. A gold mine.

But, we are not talking about video's of Prince's first step. It's Bad World Tour. It's indeed business related. I know Michael was not organized. But, I don't think he was so sloopy that he kept a VHS tape, but tossed away the master film.

Let's say Michael's copy was lost or destroyed. Would Nocturne Production keep a copy?

When I was a kid (before the digital age), my mom would bring me to a photographer to get portraits. The professional photographer kept all the negative for a period of time. Two year ago, when I went to the photographer and asked whether he still had negatvies from the 80's, he answered yes surprisingly. He told me the negatives from so many years ago were not kept on-site, but in a warehouse. He needed to spend sometime to locate it.

I know Michael may not mean anything to some. But, he should mean something to Nocturne, right?

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Shit, even if the topic (Bad VHS release) is an annoying thing, I start to get an addiction on this thread... :swoon::swoon: (shouldn't spend more hours here!).

Yeah. But sometimes it really is surprising how few attention some event tapings get. I think concerts in generally and Michael's concerts specifially are the very best example. Concerts have always been rarely officially released, especially Michael's. Thus I think it really is no wonder they might have been lossed as noone (official) saw any more profit to get out of it. Even though it seems to mean the world to many of us fans.

On top of that we are not talking about one single film, but a mountain of films. 123 concerts only for BAD tour. What about Victory? Triumph? and all other stuff? Even if you wanted to lose them on purpose you'd need hellova a place to lose them.
Why? Just imagine they had stored all the concerts in one place (which would make sense), say a warehouse. This warehouse has been cleaned up and people didn't take a too close look on each item among all the stuff lieing there... and just threw it away. I think it's not far-fetched.

I remember I had written a 9-page memory of my first Bryan Adams-concert in my early youth. It really meant very much to me as I always loved Bryan Adams' rock'n'roll music and singing (equally to MJ). But over the years, I lost it, though I can't explain how, I don't throw away anything without taking a look at it.

I didn't say careless, but don't think he was carring his stuff the same way as you do. he expected the people whose job it was to do it. and it doesn't look like they did?

Yes I witnessed the TV reports. I've seen Captain EO in 3-D, I've read about MJ buying Beatles catalog. I've read about MJ generating billions of dollars. Throughout all his career MJ was innovative and generated huge amounts of money, so yes we all have witnessed his business skills indirectly.

Now where did you read that MJ lost it I'd like to know?

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

What does that have to do with this MJ CD?
Maybe Celines show was shorter.

Well cause if the setlist is the number I'm thinking it is they were around the same she had 20 songs on hers. I think MJ's show had about 18 or 19 songs. Which is why I just gave it as an example that there's a chance we might not have to cut anything. Again factoring it amount of time each song takes and such.

You wouldn't be able to walk in and walk out in a warehouse where all unreleased MJ's stuff would have been. That's a bit farfetched.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

It was just an example of what happens with the original film reels. i don't say MJs are lost and destroyed.

till the midd 90s negatives were archived the wrong way and many historical material is lost forever because it wasn't hadled propertly.

It sounds unbeliveble to us, but i watched a documentary about restauration of movies. it was very informative.
that especialy in the 80s not quality celluloid was used, that it was saved with wrong chemicals and so on. thats why movies, that where shoot just few decades ago, need intensive restauration.

Anyway. didn't want to scary or start discussion of how Michael was with his possesion.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

SONY release a still photo of the concert so we can see the quality.

I agree. Unless it is an unmonitored, unlocked, unconditioned warehouse located in the middle of nowhere. Warehouse is a business as well. Companies pay storage fees to use those facilities. Many well-run warehouses keep meticulous record on boxes they receive, including check-in date, name of person who checked in the stuff, check-out date, name of person who checked out the stuff, destruction date, description of materials. Storage companies have insurance policy to cover damage from natural disaster and theft.

Workers simply can't go in and toss away stuff. It's impossible.

Like Bumpy said yesterday, you can't judge the quality of the DVD without blowing the photo up to fill a big screen.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

^^^

True.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

I didn't mean people just walking in and throwing stuff away, I meant an official cleanup.

Most probably BAD tour just wasn't seen as any possible profit material for years (remember it took Michael's death to bring the current popularity back).

Although, wouldn't it be ironic if a week before the VHS DVD release a 720p (or even Full HD 1080p) version of Wembley 1988 would pop up on youtube...

Let's be realistic. Read what Love Is Magical said. Why would the cleaning staff or anyone in charge have the right to take away the stored material?

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Four months of confusion and debating... not really what I expected.

Well, we're all happy for the release I guess. No one is complaining. We're just wondering about the quality of the video, that's all.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

I'm addicted to this thread :D

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

What about this info from bizniz thread
"Hamid Moslehi, MJ's past personal videographer registered several audio/video materials recently. The materials consists recordings of MJ concerts and his personal life. Will he expose them somehow?"
Seems as though the greed continues by anyone ever associated with MJ.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

i would have been happy with a vhs transfer of any unreleased concert from fans, as we all have in the past, and i will be happy with this release since the remastering is being done by industry professionals, it will be a lot better than most people are assuming it will be.

Because it might not even have been catalogized like assumed / hoped? Maybe the live footage wasn't even once considered as an official release, just fit the purpose of some TV airings, docus, and reports, film "Moonwalker" and that's it. A few years ago, there was this 50 to 60 year old guy on youtube (I forgot his name) who got his hands on quite a lot of unreleased MJ work, wasn't this also stuff that had been rotting somewhere and he just bought it quite cheap? I really could imagine the same treatment (or even worse) for the live footage, the VHS topic indiciates the respective people didn't give a da... about it.

I don't share your opinion of people grabbing all they could, however if it is true what you say then one day or another those things should be released if found back. But why those supposed peopel who would be in possession of such priceless stuff wouldn't tried to sell them to the Estate or SONY? If they were able to pay for 12 Cascio tracks without any proof, why not buying genuine things?

I'm happy that Bad Wembley will be release soon. But, no, I'm not happy that it's a VHS transfer. We are talking about an official release in the year of 2012. VHS is a thing of the past.

Some have said a few pages ago that Sony can hire the best industry professionals to do the remastering. But, the professionals are not magicians. They can't restore non-existing details. It's not people's assumption. The technological limitations are real.

You know companies pay monthly storage fees to store junks. Yes, junks. Documents that no one cares about. If video footage of Michael Jackson performing was worthless, then those arts and drawings must be worse than junks. Again, we are not talking about footage of Michael Jackson chewing gums during rehearsals, but actual concert footage.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

If the film is indeed lost or destroyed, then I agree with Alec, Michael and his management and CBS and Nocturne Production screwed up BIG TIME.

Still, just so hard to believe. Michael had a warehouse to store his drawings; yet, he didn't save any one of his concert recording master.
But i believed all those drawings were given away as the "gifts" to others by Tohme tohme behind michael's back. Even though michael stored everything properly, he still needed people to manage them. When he hired the crook...

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

LA 89 snippets in HQ if anyone forgot how they look like :punk:

Well, there are obvious flaws on the system, otherwise where did all the leaked stuff that wasnt supposed to see the light come from? Like bad tour rome or tokyo, or demos?
