BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For [General Discussion]

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Aren't we seeing the whole "where are the film recordings and why Michael don't has them" wrong?
Doesn't the film material stay in possession of the production company?
they edit the material and make master copy that stay by them. then if Michael need something for promotional purpose or etc, they gave him that stored on tape.
I mean Michael can't work with film reel. the negatives and masters stay and the production company.
thats how it is with movies too. the director don't have the negatives/master. Maybe in very few cases, but mostly they stay at the film production firm. one movie is distributed by more then one studio. so each studio can order new master to be made, if they don't like the avaible one. the negative/masters are at the production.

I hope you understand what i'm trying to say.

So the estate hasn't looking for them at all for the dvd release.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Will the 2nd cd of demos on the album have Don't Be Messin' Around on it? Surely it will !!!

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

LA 89 snippets in HQ if anyone forgot how they look like :punk:

Imagine if the untouched VHS was in this quality, and it was remastered... wow. Impossible, but I can dream.

As said, I suspect MJ concerts were estimated commercially worthless a very long time (was there even one officially released concert previous to the 2004 box set?)...

Not sure if this was before or after, but some company released the Yokohama show. Case was covered in photos from the HIStory Tour, concert itself had decent audio, way too much contrast to be watchable. Terrible release.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Since this announcement, I've been wondering if they will release I just Can't Stop Loving You with the speaking intro as Michael originally released it. I hope they will release this song as it was originally intended. I'd love to have that.

Does anyone know if this is likely?

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Does anyone know who filmed/directed/edited the Man in the Mirror piece for Moonwalker? (like, is it listed in the credits?).
It'd be neat to contact said person to see if he knows if there's FILM recordings other than MITM.

I guess this varies, but I think a production company might keep copies for archival/prosperity, but the artist/label/etc. would probably own and keep said footage.
At the end of the day, they were hired guns to film said events, so they may not have any rights to do anything with it but hold onto it (?)

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Is this thread just about the dvd only? Is there a thread about the music coming that will be new to us? I hope I don't offend anyone and I apologize now but I am looking forward to the rest of bad 25 too. I hope we get the best quality possible for the dvd. I have waited a long time to have this. I am looking forward to the music too.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

@Hunterr: Though I believe MJJLatvia, that's actually quite a good idea. Still, I'd rather ask this person whether he knows where the material might be.

me too. i'm looking forward to the demos. i guess once the traklist is published, we can discuss the music too. right now, we don't even know how many demos will be included.

i think it makes sense for the production company to have a copy of the film and the film may very well stays in the company's archive.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

I think we should probably have a separate thread for people concerned about the quality of the Bad DVD. I think it warrants it's own thread and will leave this one free to discuss other aspects of Bad 25.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Yes it is the original album tracks being released so it will be with sspeaking intro and also the Single IJCSLY is with the Speaking intro.

On a side note .
The Reason Michael's Name is in Silver on the Album is becuase a 25th Anniversary is considered a Silver Anniversary.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Yes, I understand the Estate said the VHS tape is the only known copy to the Wembley show, not the entire Bad Tour. But, if they have possession of the master film of other Bad concerts, then why use the VHS tape and hold back the better quality film? Just becasue fans have been asking for the Wembley show? Would it make more sense to use the best possible source for the DVD/Blu-ray release and have the Wembley VHS tape as bonus instead?

Again, we live in the age of Blu-ray and wide-screen HD TV, VHS quality DVD is becoming obsolete. It's just like releasing a cassette tape. It's way behind.
Maybe the estate doesn't own the film from other shows or they filmed parts of concerts not a concert in its entirety like Birchey mentioned in a post some time ago. They were even thinking of putting together a montage of different shows. But this is a full show in its entirety which I love. Maybe the quality won't be the best but I can bet anything it will be much better than Yokohama.

the reason is: this is the only concert from which they have the AUDIO multi-tracks, what, in their judgement, is more important than the image in a dvd. I'm sure they could choose from a lot of concerts if they resignated to release a 2ch DVD and keep this multi-track to mix the CD.
about the obsolescence of DVD, it's not really true when releasing things shot at SD, which still have a large queue waiting for first release.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

TWO FUN FACTS ABOUT the 'BAD25' CD1:
Remastered version of the ORIGINAL release of the album including 'Leave Me Alone.

This means that "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" will have the spoken introduction and the songs "Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Dirty Diana" and "Smooth Criminal" will also be a few seconds longer (compared to post-1988 editions, including the 2001).

The album cover has the name of Michael Jackson in silver color is a reference to the "Silver Anniversary" of the release of BAD.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

ok guys I know this is the wrong thread but I just wanted you all to know that a friend of mine has seen a Pepsi truck in Manhattan...and the back of the truck was FULL of MJ Pepsi cans....WOOHOO....its beginning.....:jump:

Now you have me wanting to go outside to chase trucks, like the dogs that run after cars.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

I also saw in a big shop a CD that was officially sold "Nobody Moves Like Jacko", it was Bad Tour live. Again,

I think its offensive that it has the "jacko" term in it cuz michael never liked being called that

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Could somebody get hold of the estate/sony and ask them to release another snippet of the concert, showing the actual quality without it being upscaled, etc. It would save alot of worrys.

Any chance you could ask whether Amazon's info about the show being 60 mins is correct or not. Sorry about insisting but it's just something that's bothering me. I doubt they'd cut half the show especially after the way the press release but still it's bothering me!

I know but I wish we could get it a bit quicker it's really bothering me. I understand I'll prob have to wait but if you do get a quick chance to speak to the estate can you see if they can confirm or deny that info. Again I know it's a long shot and I'll prob end up having to wait but if you do get a chance...

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

Um has anyone realized that ANYONE can edit the info on amazon.com so I'm fixing some of the info for now....

Ok I just sent them the corrections for them to make including run time and date and used the official website as a source.

Re: Michael Jackson BAD25 - The Announcement We Have All Been Waiting For

OMG, did you guys know that the Yokomah show was indeed captured on film and not video?

If you look at the concert you can see film cameras in the front row of the stage and not the typical video cameras. Amazing!
