A friend who was at the hearing in Brazil told me that the new version of DYKWYCA was more exciting.

And for the ones who say the bashing against Paul Anka is ridiculous, it didn't come out of nowhere. I don't know why the Estate decided to release a song of his (partially) when Paul acted like a douche using/cashing in Michael and defaming him. This Is It made sense since that's was the name of the tour.

The Estate don't give a damn about Anka. Anka is a douche, one of the biggest douches in the world but he is not relevant at all. They are releasing the song because it is a good song and it should be released. That is not questionable at all. The song being the first single though.. that's another story.

It's strange. Despite seeing posters around the city advertising 9 May, New Zealand's release date has been pushed back to 13 May...

Ah well. It's like the third or fourth change to NZ's release date since the announcement so I have a little tiny hope that they'll suddenly change it back to 9th May again :p

I called Sony NZ yesterday and they haven't got the album yet nor have they heard it. Not surprising that it's been pushed back to 13th

It's not a bad song at all, it's cheerful and sweet but for a first single is pretty safe and like I said before, seen in other acts since it's trendy the sound of the 70s nowadays.

Well JB Hi-Fi's website used to say it was coming out on 9 May. I checked last night and it had been pushed it to 13 May (iTunes has shown 13 May for the last solid week or two?).

I called them up and they said that Sony had been juggling around with the dates or something, I dunno.

What is "TONIGHT" is US? Because it's already 2:30 here in EU so i'm wondering should I wait or not?

While I don't know which timezone they'd use exactly, it's 5.38pm in LA now so my guess is yeah, it's some time in the next fewish (3-6?) hours or something.

It's 8:30 PM at Eastern coast and 5:30 PM at Western coast. So it's tonight :p They could be meaning midnight ET. For Michael album they released snippets and streams at midnight. so that would make within the next 3 hrs and 20 minites.

Where is this update coming from? I know the Online Team (duh, lol) but... where, exactly? I went to Facebook, Twitter even Googled it and came up with nothing. Can't find anything on MJ's website. I have to be honest, I feel like a fool not knowing where this is originating from.

The thing though is this, the right decision, and what's worth releasing as a first single to you, may not be the same for others, so I think we all should just embrace whatever the choice is and enjoy this moment.

Preliminary analysis of music (later back with more details):
1. LOVE NEVER FELT SO GOOD
The song starts with a very instrumental crafted strings (as is done in "Gone Too Soon", for example) and then follow a jazz / soulful vibe along with piano. Sounds like a reinterpretation of the best of the album "Off The Wall".
2. CHICAGO
"Chicago" has a very strong beat and organic, blending bass, bass drums and synthesizers. In addition, several ad-libs are simply great!
3. LOVING YOU
"Loving you ... that's all I" / The song is a kind of musical instruments convention, including piano, all played simultaneously and reminiscent Broadway musicals. Another brand is up there in the chorus catchy!
4. A PLACE WITH NO NAME
APWNN The new version is introduced by a hit very similar to "The Way You Make Me Feel". Moreover, one can notice the most prominent in the Michael voice, especially in the chorus, as distinct from that leaked version years ago.
5. SLAVE TO THE RHYTHM
"Slave" begins with sounds of chains dragging as slaves being loaded.The new version includes ad-libs Timbaland and has several sections that are so prominent that MJ's voice, sounding almost a cappella.
6. DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN ARE
has an electronic rhythm that recalls the sound of video games. The pace of the chorus is growing and instrumental sound is completed by a clock in the background, which oscillates at various times and descompassa.
DYKWYCA have a surprise! Near the end, the song seems to end up [at that moment everyone in the room were excited and prepared to applaud], when suddenly the last verse is repeated.
7. GANGSTA BLUE
is the most mysterious song on the album! The first few seconds creates an incredible tension, with rain sounds, steps and a heavy atmosphere ... until Michael comes by surprise by singing a cappella.
8. XSCAPE
"Xscape" starts with MJ saying "Darkchild" (producer Rodney Jerkins nickname). The new instrument is quite heavy and reminds of early demo version / original (including parts of beatbox). Moreover, before the chorus is an excerpt from a cappella.
Another important point is that, at various times, the song seems to reference the version of "Working Day And Night" sung live on the Dangerous Tour (to the extent that MJ is spinning on stage).

Dang, it's like I can somewhat imagine how it will sound like the way it's described! I like the tidbits about small effects here and there... the cinematic-feel they're going with music, something Michael did a lot in his songs. Like the rain effects too in Stranger in Moscow, sorrowful/melodic strings in Gone Too Soon, Smile... Sound effects make or break a song, but when done right can bring the music to another level no matter how little a part they hold. Can influence imagination when listening, tell a story, especially if it's a song without a music video.

I'm itching to hear the songs so badly~

I've heard three of them and they are all amazing. STTR is my favorite of the ones I've heard, and LNFSG is also a great song. Very moody and makes me think of sitting in an old, 1940's-style, smoke-filled bar. I dunno. I just get that vibe. Xscape is the one I am most excited to hear the full version of though :) I'm excited about all the songs, but Xscape... I dunno. That's the one that has captured my attention right from the get-go :)
