Of course they did. But they had to tell the story. But it really doesn't matter because all those songs are great and unreleased. They could have said they knew, that would change nothing in my opinion.

Hopefully they announce something by Midnight, I don't see the point of keeping everyone up and waiting.

Breaking News premiered at 12:00 AM Eastern, so I'm expecting the same for this announcement. It should be another hour and seven minutes.

Well it took them forever and a day to update the site when they announced the album back on April 1st. They made the announcement on GMA, but mj.com had NOTHING for at least the first day, if not two. I kept checking back every couple hours for more info and there was ***cue the crickets*** nothing. I just hope this time, when they say they'll post something, that they actually do, and that they do it in the time frame that they say they'll do it in.

Given that quite often, when a celebrity says a debut single will be announced/released "tonight," they mean by midnight.

Really? Interesting. I saw the announcement immediately when it first dropped. There wasn't a big outline of it on the MJ website; it was just a small block in the bottom corner.
 
They said they were posting some NEWS about the first single sometime tonight . So if all you get is News, don't be disappointed, :) Myself I'm waiting for News. If I get more then I will be pleasantly surprised. Also just want to say Im so proud of all the fans for being loyal to the surprise element for Michael and not leaking out what the first single is. Thats very rare in this day and age.

I hope the news is more than the Iheart Radio premiere. I will wait and see what it is.

I feel differently. The sales of Michael’s posthumous releases were hindered due to leaks and the products themselves being inferior which encouraged illegal downloading among other reasons. Reviews of Xscape have been extremely positive overall proving this release is very good. This is the best chance for Michael to chart well and Estate/Sony knows that; thus, the promotion we have now. Nothing ventured, nothing gained so no need to be lazy in one area when you may have a winner or know that you do. The gamble would have been worth it and may be the last chance.

I do not see that happening. I am not saying the songs will not be complete or not fully mixed. They most likely will not be the versions recognized widely as the leaked versions. The only one that will be exact match will be LNFSG.

My bad, yes, that's what I saw as well. Just a very small bit of information- the same that every other website in the world had. As much of a big deal as everyone was making about it at the time, I was just expecting more, that's all. Looking back though, I can see that it must have been all part of the "keep everything hush hush" plan... but at the time, in the moment, my thinking was different.

I am now guessing the details to come will be basically info about the song premiering on the IHeart Radio Music Awards.
