M. JACKSON & J. TIMBERLAKE – Love Never Felt So Good: 28.914 (+1.862)

I'm reading people on ATRL saying the album was sold out when they went to buy their copy (in the US) and posting pictures of the empty shelves:

From Montana:

This one is from NY Target (Atlantic Terminal Mall):

After 1 hour, standard edition sold out and just one "Deluxe" copy left.

I think that's a good sign for the physical sales!

They need to fill those empty shelves as quickly as possible!

It’s going to be such a close battle for number 1 in the US! The prediction for Xscape has increased a little though, so that’s promising! The previous prediction was 140-150k for Xscape and 145-155 for the Black Keys, now it’s 145-155 for both albums.

:yes:Can the US fans match the UK fans!!??

It will cost me $100 dollars - but I would love it if MJ could make it to #1 in the US!!

Keep doing the great job on twitter and other social media sites. Encourage the others to buy it. WE CAN DO IT!

Guys, these are my expectations on the performance of Xscape. Please tell me if these are reasonable or not. I mean, he's the King of Pop.

Xscape: 3Xplatinum in the US by next year
#1 on BB200 for at least 5 weeks
Worldwide sales of about 15 million

The single: Love Never Felt So Good
#1 peak on Hot100

150K for first week sales is still low. Please check highest 5 debuts from last year.

iTunes India update: Xscape is #1!!!
Beating new albums by AR Rahman, Coldplay etc

No, your expectations are not reasonable AT ALL. Even the best selling albums by the most popular current artists do not go 3x Platinum these days. Last years best selling album 20/20 Experience by Justin Timberlake is 2x Platinum. With 1 million copies sold you could be among the Top 10 best selling albums of the year. But those are by the most popular current acts. If you want a posthumus album to compete with the best selling current artists then that will make you have irrealistic expectations.

Expectations should be kept at a realistic level, don't expect too much... just the fact that this release will be giving Michael his 10th Number One Album in the UK is a great result in of itself... the promo has been wonderful this time around... personally what i think sold it mostly, was showing the trailer during Britain's got Talent! let's see how this pans out... but i couldn't be more happy with the performance at how it stands right now.

The counting U.S. sales will to Monday? Billboard Music on Sunday can help a lot in sales.

Sunday 23:59. It will help for few hours only.

What we all have to do is to tweet the performance and #Xscape on Sunday during the award show. We need to make it trend so ppl can see it and hopefully get a copy.

I cant believe its a tie between MJ and the black keyes for the #1 spot. Come on MJfam!!

Great update! Pop radios are SLOOOOOWLY catching up. I hope it is not the video impact, and they will keep playing the song. LNFSG should be Summer 2014's anthem. No question. But radio needs to step up...A top 4 song on iTunes and they are just now waking up to its potential.

Michael's projections went up...while TBK remained the same. I think MJ will have this one. So much buzz & great word of mouth, I think people are going to Walmart/Target this weekend and see the album and pick up up even if they hadn't planned to.

As a side note, those sales numbers are depressing. I was hoping for 180K for MJ, but look at the #10....a measly 17K at best...Very sad.

I think that's a good sign for the physical sales!

Not really. I think they didn't stock enough copies. It is not normal for an album to be sold out 2 days after release. Or they expected to sell more regular than Orginal, but most people are buying Original instead.

ETA: we still need to continue pushing the album on social medias. It is not over until Sunday Night 11:59PM

EXACTLY. Those empty shelves are not good thing. I think Black Shit is going to win in digital sales. There we don't have a chance against them (unless US people start buying on itunes). Physical sales are our only chance to win this.

… No.

No album sells 15 million these days, or is certified 3X platinum in the US. The only exception is Adele’s 21, but that’s a total anomaly. Not even the best-selling albums by the most popular artists today sell anywhere near 15 million. The best-selling albums these days sell like 6 million worldwide.

And there’s no way Xscape is going to be #1 for 5 weeks. It might not even be #1 for one week, how could it possibly manage several weeks?

And #1 for LNFSG is not realistic either. A top 20 peak is a great achievement, and it might peak higher than that, but no, expecting it to hit number 1 is not realistic.

Sorry, but I really don’t like these completely unreasonable expectations. Xscape is not going to be the next 21 when it comes to album sales and the next Teenage Dream when it comes to number 1 singles. If we think that’s going to happen then we’ll just be badly disappointed even if the album is a huge success.

"Black S**t" is a bit offensive, regardless on what you were intending to say, please edit it, thanks. WHAT I MEAN IS, the Black Keys, I hate them and they said something so disrespectful, but "Black Shit" implies racism, even if you didn't aim it at black people, you just need to edit it.

And what he said about Michael is not offensive?? Let me remind you:

"[It's] some ****ing bullshit that sucks so bad that it took them three years after he died to make it listenable," he tells Rolling Stone's Patrick Doyle. "Like he had to be dead for three years for it to be released." He suspects it finally saw the light of day because "L.A. Reid needed a new boat."

Oh come on now...you are totally trolling.

LNFSG could reach number one...but Xscape #1 for 5 weeks is bit of a stretch UNLESS...LNFSG really does become a summer hit. *fingers crossed*

Quick question: If I order a CD on Amazon today but it only gets ship on Monday, will it count as sale for the current week or next?

@Serendipity, do you have new radio ADDs for LNFSG this week? And also, the Canada Radio plays for the song? Thank you
If you can't post here a link would be ok.

^amazon charges at the time of shipment so my guess would be that it would count for next week's sales. But thats just a guess....

I may have been guilty of this myself.

From now on, so as not to offend anyone, I shall call them the 'shit keys' instead.

How is the promotion on US itunes? Why only #3 there? Are there any banners and stuff? Maybe more promotion is needed there.

Albums

1 Michael Jackson - Xscape - 36.4k *
2 The Black Keys - Turn Blue - 26.9k*
3 Paloma Faith - A Perfect Contradiction
4 Paolo Nutini - Caustic Love
5 Foxes - Glorious *

*Top 2 album sales now added.

Heading for 45,000? :)

If it could reach 50,000, that would be 4th highest debut of the year! :D

Well MJ has been behind 's**t keys all week on iTunes - and yet HDD have today upgraded his sales forecast, whilst s**t keys has remained the same.

It's all about the physicals baby. We need our US fans to keep up their great work!
