We watch it because want to sift out the bullshit. This was aired on TLC, a semi popular channel that will have casual or non MJ fans watching this. I'm tired of people getting wrong information because they saw something on TV or read something online. I want to be able to tell people what they saw either correct or incorrect.
I don't need to see a program that features minors who did not consent to such a trashy idea with the idea of "secret lives"- the title alone is trash, tabloid.
I also don't need to subject myself to people to Dimond and Nancy Disgrace on an ongoing basis just to be able to tell people- listen, half the stuff you heard about MJ is BS. If somebody tells me that MJ must have been guilty because "he avoided a trial by a payout"-than I'm able to clear that up without having seen and listened to every trashy TV station that pretends not to know how the legal system works.
You don't need to see every piece of garbage under the sun to be able to weed out fact from fiction. I'd go nuts if I were to watch the majority of the TV channels available.
When you say "I'm not surprised to see who here watched this documentary", you make it seem like we should feel bad about seeing it. All of us here, want 100% Privacy for his kids, but sadly this world doesn't work that way..and since it doesn't, I will do my best to try to tell people the realities instead of believing made up stories.
I completely get the need to soak up every bit of Michael there is, I do understand it, believe me.
I do draw the line with his children. Maybe some people might change their tune once they hold their own children in their arms. Do people not realize how anxiety inducing it can be for 12 or 13 year old (whose father was literally tortured and crucified by the media) to know that they are featured on some trashy "documentary" without their consent, having no say over what is being said about them?
If someone (after decades of me, the parent, being hounded and humiliated at every turn by the same media) were to produce a program of MY three children at that age- and then call it "the secret lives"- I'd be beyond livid, Michael would be as well.
Note how they waited almost a year with this garbage idea? They did not dare to air that when he was still alive and not right after he passed, they knew to wait.
Can you imagine what Michael would be thinking and feeling having all these people get on camera and give their "evaluation and judgement" on your parental abilities? Especially coming from bottom feeders like Boteach.
Where was all the praise when he was alive and could have used just a friendly face in the public that didn't bash him nonstop?
Michael Jackson does not need the gratuity and a condescending slap on the back of having been a good father- especially not from people who've proven to be scum, sorry for the harsh words.
He would have needed the support back then, not now.
The media likes to play people. For decades it was lucrative to make Michael Jackson out to be a freak, lunatic and pedo*hile- now they are suddenly realizing, whoopsies, better change our tune, because now it's cool to praise MJ. Now there's money to be made by changing the tune in 180 degrees, fascinating.
I'm not about to forget how the same exact media was killing him, year after year with slander, defamation and character assassination.
Fascinating how the same media was salivating to call MJ child m****** and now they are singing his praise as a father. Disgusting.
I didn't tune in because I do draw the line with his children. I am not about to give my ratings to a channel that at this point produces mainly trash.
I intend to give Michael's children the privacy that people here claim to want to give them- not tuning in is the easiest of exercises.
Don't need to see a channel whose main program idea at this point is to dumb down people- there's no need to see Boteach's condescending "let's play nice now" change of tune to know it's plain wrong. Boteach and company are the last ones I want to hear now that they realized, oops, the winds are shifting, better catch on.
I'm not usually that hardcore on people that used to associate with Michael, because everybody makes mistakes. Everybody. But scum like Lester and Boteach are using children to make PR for themselves yet again. I'm not about to reward Boteach for his breach of trust by watching him on some channel.
