why is TLC showing this? The Secret Lives of Michael Jackson's Children

they don't know anything. they used to have 'the secret life' of Michael Jackson type shows. and nobody ever learned anything. it's just a title to titilate. nobody from the learning channel can get inside the house..

No, of course not. They will play the same shots from the memorial over and over and the few snippets from the funeral and whatever else the paps might have gotten.

Of course they didn't get in the house. But since when is it okay to talk about the "secret lives of minor children", I mean we probably all agree on that. This is not a fictitious show although mostly everything will sound like fiction. It's just not right to speculate about minor children on national TV. In shows like "Toddler's and Tiaras" it's their messed up parents giving the okay for their kids to be exploited on TV, that's just going to be tabloid nonsense revolving around CHILDREN front and center.

This is what is likely to happen, just clips of the kids. I don't know why they want to create a doc on this, I mean the kids are not celebs thier dad and aunts and uncles are.

If there is only one paparazzi snippet in there (not talking about the Memorial and Funeral), that was filmed without the Parent/Guardian giving consent for broadcasting, then especially minor children have rights. Heck, adults have to sign a lot of paperwork in order to appear legally on these shows. Jon Gosslin (despite having been all over the idea to let TLC film his children endlessly and completely ignoring his possible agenda for a moment) even managed to halt production for even a few days. I know, different story, but honestly it's just not okay.

So they might just stick with the Memorial, Funeral and Award Show and play that over and over and over and over.

It'll be lovely, 3 minors that will be presented as the kids of a disturbed dude.

I believe they can use any footage/pictures that's taken at a public place where there's no expectation of privacy. We are seeing millions of pictures/videos of celebrity kids at every type of media.

Jon was able to halt the production because he's a parent but he wasn't able to stop paparazzi taking photos of his kids when they were picking them up from the school bus at a public street/parking lot.
 
No, of course he couldn't stop them from taking the pictures, but TLC wasn't able to use paps craziness in their own shows. So they will focus on the usual recorded stuff.

In either case you still can express your disdain at the venture simply because it's not cool. You can always play dumb and the more people let TLC know this is not okay, the better. I understand the issue but sometimes you just have to pull all angles. There better be not a single second of Pap shots in that show.
Unfortunately I can't even locate an appropriate email adress. You can only fill out that stupid form over at Discovery.

I'm not usually all over writing protest letters, I've signed one petition over Bashir and sent 2 emails for other stuff. But the kids, that just hurts in my heart. I have a son myself, it's just absolutely deplorable to use children to slander and defame their dead father because that's pretty much all that this program will be about. The thought of that really is awful.
 
Well ... :no: I'm afraid to understand that some think that there's nothing we can do ? I'm not updated with US Laws, I don't know if there's something to protect the privacy, especially children privacy - I'm amazed that they can do this show without the need to be authorized, these children are minors !!! If only Mrs Jackson could stop this show, someone could tweet to Taj or Taryll, Tito, Jackie ... to let her know ? I'm really hurt to be unable to do something. :(

I understand how you feel. It's frustrating to know that we can't physically stop them from airing this show, but what we CAN do is voice our displeasure, to let them know that we disapprove of a program in such poor taste. And maybe, just maybe, they'll listen to us. Never underestimate the power of MJ's fans.
 
This is so sad. :( I've tweeted Taj, hopefully he'll see it and become aware of it. I'm also going to contact the broadcasters, imagine how Michael would feel about this.

On the TLC website I didn't find any email address to use for sending them an email :doh: it's not clear
 
The Media Advocacy team will be drafting up a letter of protest about this even if we have to use their shitty contact page instead of a normal e-mail address. This is just wrong on so many levels, it is mindblowing!
Excuse my language, the letter will be PC and polite!
 
Should they be airing this? No, the kdis didn't ask to be thrown into the limelight. However it is not illegal and fans sending e-mails, etc isn't going to do anything.

What purpose does the documentary serve? Who is going to be up at 9 pm on a sunday night...not children, adults are. What adult wants to watch this? to look at the "secret" lives of three minors, they go to school, they go to karate, they play video games, WTF is the purpose? Judgement, exploitation...now tell me who is the real PERVERT!
 
wonder if the estate know about this. is this gonna be similar to the secret childhood/life thing they did on mj?
 
Its so sad that the kids are being subjected to the media scrutinising them and their lives for ratings. They don't deserve this and Michael would have hit the roof if something like this happened when he was alive. Sadly he's not here to protect them anymore. I just pray that this gets taken off somehow, they don't deserve this :(

that's what I wondered if it's not illegal, don't forget these children are minors, it must exist a law to protect minors privacy - It's not because some tabloids showed some stolen pics or clips that everybody can do what they want !!! I'm really disturbed by all that could be done after, they won't ever be quiet.:no:

As per this programme, just saw on Access Hollywood, Mark Lester will be one of the people speaking about the kids (they showed him talking about the kids reaction to their fathers death)
