I can't vote either but my era was on May 16, 1983 the day Michael Jackson did the moonwalk on Motown 25 Anniversay. :D I just celebrated my 25th anniversary about 2 weeks ago.

first thing i noticed from him was SC video, but became a fan when i was a bit older
 
I kind of became a fan around 1992 thanks to the Dangerous era, so I guess Ill vote for the nearest year which is 1996.
 
Gradually between the Thriller and Bad era. I was only 9 years old when Thriller was released and we didn´t have MTV back then but I liked the songs even though I didn´t actually by the album until years later and sometimes they showed the videos in national television. Around 1985-86 I remember reacting to the tabloid media starting to be so mean to MJ and I didn´t believe the stories about him (proves a child can see through that). There was also stories that the Bad album was never going to be released and Thriller was the last album he was ever going to make because it took a long time. When the Bad album was released in 1987 was then I definitely became a fan.

i became a fan when i was 11 years old ! saw michael at history tour 97 live in germany
 
I became in 11 February 2007 (yeah, I remember :lol: That was great to buy Thriller 25 at this anniversary xD), so I guess I can't vote, but I did and of course it was 2006 :)
 
hmmmmm... Im very tempted to say before 1958 just cause I personally think its funny....

I don't remember not being a fan,
I used to watch Michael Jackson every day since I was new-born, my sister used to put MJ videos on for me, she was a big fan then,
I like him ever since. Since I was a new-born.

Boy, did she regret that! Hahahahahah
 
I became fan in 98 when I was on vacation in turkey. I bought my first Mj album, Blood on the dancefloor on cassette there.
 
I became a fan in 1993-94, i was only 5 or 6 years old, and i just watched BAD on TV back in ma country!!!...I Just wanted to imitate him soooo much!!! but since there were not a lot of Cassets or teps @ that time,It was 7 yrs. later, after comming to america that i got ALL His albums. and DVD's...in 2001!!! He's an inspiration 2 me!!!

Like JayWalker said, I don't remember ever NOT being an MJ fan ... I was raised on his music. And I was born in 1987, so I guess I've been a fan since between the 2 Pepsi commercials? :p
 
I became a fan in 1986. I was at Disneyland watching Captain EO for the first time. I was about 1 yrs old. I fell in love right then and there.
I had to ask my mother when I truly became a fan.
 
I became a fan during the HIStory era. Mind you, I was about 4/5 years old at that point.
 
although i was a janet fan before i heard of michael, i became a fan in 2002.
i was 8 years old at that point, & my parents got me MJ's HIStory album. Haha, bet they didn't think i would turn out to be obsessed :D
