Carines siggy is adorable!!!!!!!!

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

So this tells me that nobody is bothered to write a song to help the poor suffering survivors of the Haiti Earthquake.

Michael would not be happy!

Michael would have wrote a new song

Re: *VIDEO* Info regarding Prince & Paris WATW contribution.

Not sure if this is a good idea. I know people are saying they are old enough to make their own decisions, but they're not really. Prince is 12 and Paris is 11 (is that right?). When they're 18 they should be allowed to do whatever the hell they want. But they are still kids and they need someone looking out for their best interests. Is it really in their best interests to be making so many public appearances? We all know Michael was very VERY paranoid about them being seen in public. I don't believe he would've been happy with the Grammy's and I don't believe he would want them singing on this WATW project either.

I'm sure he's immensely proud of them and how dignified and gracious and mature they obviously are. But Michael was their dad at the end of the day. Who is stopping to think about what he would've wanted for them??

True, just because he is not here anymore, doesnt mean his wishes should be ignored. They are his children after all.

Re: *VIDEO* Info regarding Prince & Paris WATW contribution.

As the day has come and gone, I think this is false guys so we shouldn't get all worked up and worried. :)

Re: *VIDEO* Info regarding Prince & Paris WATW contribution.

Personally I don't like this at all, If Michael still was alive you'd think he'd wanted them to go in the studio and record? IMO No, they were still having their masks on in public for gods sake.

Now things are different, and they don't have their father around anymore, maybe they WANT to do this, maybe they want to be a part of the tribute themselves instead of watching them on theese award shows.
But I am concered about that maybe theres no one around them to teach them the filosofies (sp) of life they were taught to by their father, I mean they way Michael raised them. They're going into a totally different direction then what they would have by now, if Michael was still here.

Michael did however say that if they wanted to go into showbiz and was prepared and knew what it meant then they would have his permission.
I'm just not sure if they are aware of what the business is like, and I guess I'm worried for them, becuase I don't want to see them being treated the way michael was.

Re: *VIDEO* Info regarding Prince & Paris WATW contribution.

I think mike would rather have them doing this sort of thing maybe when they reach 18 & over. I feel they are getting into this far too soon, i just hope that the kids are doin this cuz they want 2- NOT CUZ PPL ARE TELLING THEM TOO!

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

Im looking at the roster, the roster is pretty huge. But wheres Beyonce and Adam Lambert? :worried:

This is all so wrong. why Eminem and Lil Wayne?

WHAT!!!!! df,jhsdfkjhsdfkljh

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

I hate to say it but I dont even think charity is the reason behind this it's just to make all these celebritys look good you think Kanye gives a darn about Haiti?

When Michael wrote the song he genuienly cared about what was going on and if he were with us now he would just as loving and careing but without him it just seems like a publicity stunt.

I have to agree with you. ughh

I agree and that is why people say ''charity'' doesn't mean anything if it doesn't come from the heart.

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

They just showed a couple of clips from the new recording session at the beginning of the Today Show. They are going to discuss it later in the program.

Stars gather to cover 'We Are the World' for Haiti

if(requestedWidth > 0){ document.getElementById('articleViewerGroup').style.width = requestedWidth + "px"; document.getElementById('articleViewerGroup').style.margin = "0px 0px 10px 10px"; } LOS ANGELES—The charity anthem "We Are the World" has been given a hip-hop, pop twist by 80 artists who have re-recorded the 1980s hit in the same Hollywood studio where the original was cut 25 years ago.
Pink, Natalie Cole, Kanye West, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Brian Wilson and others stood shoulder to shoulder Monday night on risers at Henson Recording studios, singing in hopes of aiding Haiti.

"This one, the enthusiasm, I've never seen anything like it," said Lionel Richie, who wrote the original "We Are the World" with Michael Jackson, and oversaw the redux version with music mogul Quincy Jones, 76.
Jones, who produced the 1985 anthem, announced last week that he planned to redo the song to benefit recovery efforts after the devastating 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Haiti Jan. 12.

The song, officially titled "We Are the World—25 for Haiti," will premiere this month during coverage of the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics on NBC, according to a release from promoter AEG Live.

On Monday, stars converged on the recording studio's Studio A in the afternoon and stayed several hours. Richie and Jones worked with a select number of soloists, including Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, later into the night.

At one point during a break, the musicians broke out into an a cappella version of the pop classic "Lean on Me," a classic moment jump-started by singer Melanie Fiona leaning on another artist because her feet were tired.
Gesturing with her hands, and shifting her headphones from ear to ear, Barbra Streisand recorded her solo over and over again, completely absorbed in the recording process and stopping only to correct her pitch.
Later, a who's who of rappers, including Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J and Wyclef Jean, recorded an interlude written by Black Eyed Peas frontman and producer will.i.am.

Rapper Lil Wayne said he was blessed to record the tune but was surprised when told he would do Bob Dylan's part from the original.

"I don't know how to sing," he admitted, with a smile.

Asked how the earthquake had affected him, he said he had Haitian friends in Miami who lost relatives in the disaster.

The original "We Are the World" thundered up the charts when it was released in March 1985.

An unprecedented number of top pop musicians gathered at A&M the night of Jan. 28, 1985, following the American Music Awards, to record the tune. The song featured 45 American superstars, including Jackson, Richie, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen and Cyndi Lauper.

The record raised more than $30 million that year for USA for Africa, a nonprofit the singers founded to fund hunger relief in Africa.

None of the original performers returned for Monday because none were asked, said Randy Phillips, chief executive of tour promoter of AEG Live and also Richie's manager.

"This is about a new generation mixed with an old generation," Phillips said.
Proceeds from the song initially are to go to the newly formed charity We Are the World Foundation LLC, then be distributed to Haiti.

Some top music names were either unavailable to record, or opted not to re-record the original, Phillips said. Taylor Swift's touring schedule kept her from joining Monday, and Beyonce Knowles had returned already to New York with husband Jay-Z, Phillips said. Janet Jackson, who was out of town, will contribute vocals remotely, he said.

Filmed by Oscar-winning screenwriter and director Paul Haggis, the event was shot using 3D cameras, a futuristic twist from the 1985 version. A few people dressed in head-to-toe green stood next to the celebrities as place holders so viewers would eventually be able to insert themselves into the star crowd, Jones said.

Josh Groban, flush from doing his own high-flying solo, noted that everyone had left their ego at the door.

"I can only hope this can have the impact the original has had," he said.

^^ So Janet is also a part of the project? This is the first time I'm hearing this.

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

Is anybody here old enough to remember this guy? He's a stand up comedian who used to go on Carson and he did this "we are the world" parody that back then (though probably not as much now) was pretty funny (because at the time that song was being played constantly on the radio and the video on MTV, etc).

Yep, just thinking back 25 years ago to when that song came out. Just part of the Michael Mania of the time. I was just 21 or so. Wish I could relive it all...

Re: *VIDEO* Info regarding Prince & Paris WATW contribution.

They were not there so don't worry about it!

Re: *VIDEO* Info regarding Prince & Paris WATW contribution.

the kids will be connected to everything going just like mj.every award show going will create something for mj to try and get them there to boost ratings.

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

I cannot stand him. MJ was using the chemical peels for a reason, jackass. He did not even answer Kouric's question about MJ & Joe Jackson...he wanted to get his message across.

I am sure he did not know the world would react as they did...because in other interviews soon after he started praising MJ.

I am glad MJ stopped working with him after Bad.

I cannot believe he said MJ was against rap...MJ wrote "Do the barman" with that hip hop vibe soon after he finished with Bad....nonsense. Q loves taking credit for MANY things MJ did. MJ & him did not get along during the recording of bad because he wanted to share credit w/ MJ for songs he had nothing or little to do with. I am glad MJ stood his ground and not the bully get away with it.

I wish I hadn't clicked on the link. I had seen it before but I did not need this that early in the morning. Another freakin' hypocrite.

On a good note: Eminem is not listed on the song.

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

I remember seeing this  dsfjhgsdf gahh he pisses me off! He really angers me. He doesn't even believe Michael when Michael told him that he had Vitiligo. What a "friend" he was. And Michael always thanked him every time he went on stage. w.e Quincy, just w.e. I heard he said some other not so nice things about Michael in some interview, but I don't know where that interview is at now. and Katie Couric can stfu with her manly neck self.

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

The Today Show just said Janet will be doing Michaels parts. IMO if you couldn't come out to do it with everyone else then she shouldn't be on it :-(

Also wireimage has a bunch of pics. Jermaine was there.

Re: Live -- 'We Are the World' Remake

Matt Lauer just said on the Today Show that the new WATW video will debut during the opening ceremonies of the winter Olympics. Some performers turned down the invite because they changed some of the lyrics to be Haiti specific and they didn't feel that the lyrics should be touched...

He also said that Janet Jackson's voice will be digitally inserted into Michael's parts? That doesn't sound good...more confusion...

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

agrr, I couldn't believe the things that kept pouring out of Quincy's mouth after Michael's passing. What a GOOD FRIEND he turned out to be. I try to avoid this subject because it's very upsetting to me. one thing is when a tabloid writes another story, we all are used to it and don't pay attention. but when a respected person who claims to be a friend starts telling all this nonsense about someone who is not here to defend himself, I have no words for that. Quincy lost my respect in summer.

Huh? I would have preferred MJ's voice. I think Q does not want any of the original performers on the 2010 version. They should not change the lyrics..and I do not want to hear a rap section on watw.

I am willing to wait to hear the finished product, but right now from lil wayne to Eminem...I am getting nervous.

My family and I have donated money for Haiti already and we plan to donate even more. You don't have to buy this single to support charity there are other ways to donate and help out.
