I honestly dont mean that as a dig at your comment, its just my view... And Im not in ANY way trying to insinuate that you are someone who judges others here on join dates, I enjoy reading your posts and respect alot of the things you say... I guess my main point is, I tried out the other forums, and I came here because I felt loved and part of a COMMUNITY, not just a internet forum full of argumentative know it alls who thought their opinion was gospel. I know I repeat it again and again, but MJJC is like a family, the majority of the time we respect eachother... and we need to get back to that.

See, many forums who claimed they were independent, open minded wouldnt censor etc say the same tihng, but I could name at least three other boards that are dealing with the same issue, and no I'm not talking about michaeljackson.com. Wasnt even aware of their messageboard.

Before June 25th, MJJC had such a sense of community. And it's not been lost because of new members. If anything it's because some new members are being discriminated against and everyone's emotions are running so high at the moment.

Agree, as a long time member on this forum (forget 2007 I've been here since 2003) I dont like how new members are judged. Lets not put all of them in one pot its like comparing apples to bananas or Jackie to Jermaine as a matter of fact.

I am going to scan and post up some pages from Off the Wall magazine soon when I have time and im sure everyone will see how pointless join dates on this forum mean when they see the dedication real fans put in back i nthe early eighties/ninties. You couldnt just go to your living room in ure dressing gown and log on nad have a instant response. You had to write a letter, wait three months to see if it was published and wait for the answers to your questions!!!!!!!! I guess the point i am trying to say is INTERNET FORUMS do not prove anything.

Your mum sounds cool! :punk: Before there was online forums, there were fanclub mags and our own "mj belongings" . But this forum and many other mj forums has brought mj fans together in so many ways - its amazing!.

But it sucks that it has brought pain & hurt to some fans, i just wish it wouldnt.

Lol thanks she is cool, just internet illiterate!! (bad spelling i know lol) i have never been able to convert her to the MJ religion though - I was close though as i was taking her too opening night :O(

Mj belongings? I havent heard of that one. i have loads of Of the Wall magazines, they do make me chuckle reading them now but full of great information and the fan letteres make me laugh so much :O) i read them over and over again. I just think its sad that many fans see mjjc as the be all and end all of being a michael. Dont get me wrong its a fab resource but NOT everything :eek:)

Just realised this is totally of topic for this thread maybe a MJ magazine collection and article thread is in order?
 
And also, the atmosphere we old members talk about so much doesn't come back by itself. We all have to work together to get it back. With L.O.V.E.
 
Nothin will probably be the same again becuase we have lost the one we are all here for.
None the less I still love this place. Its harsh on everyone, more the fans that have been fans for quite a while before June 25th.
Not enough thank yous go to Gary and his team and its so easy to take for granted being on here and nobody will realise how good this community is until they have received a ban from a mod or Gary. This place is the only comfort zone some fans may have after the loss of Michael. Im nowhere near perfect as I clash with fans over opinions but I try to show some decency. I hope I do anyways.
 
What we've come to know of being an MJ fan and what has been familiar to us has changed forever. Whilst the community as a whole had its own infighting and disagreements, the glue that held us together was Michaels presence. The hope that something would happen, the latest snippet of news on where he was and what he was doing. Acceptance isnt as easy for some as it is for others. I often feel as though I've fully accepted that Michael has passed on, yet it only takes a mention of his name, his voice through song or his image to bring back that pain in my stomach that reminds me he wont be back. God how I dread all the end of 2009 review programmes that will no doubt surface at the end of the month that will bring flooding back the pain and difficulty of the most horrible summer I've ever lived through.

But in all of that, its important to recognise that the community as one will take a long long time to heal. The mixture and conflict of emotions we all feel wont go away over night. Most of all I just hope that Michael doesnt feel I, or we, have let him down. Lets just continue to do what we can for him and his legacy, and also for each other.
 
This thread is not about who is a bigger fan or when you joined the forum.
Haven't we learned anything by now? It's all about L.O.V.E. & R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

It's a challenging time, but let's learn and stay strong, let's make this a nice place again for all of us, it's US who can make that possible.

Well... actually, the main problem with michaeljackson.com is that has NO moderators. It is only a forum open for fans to post and share with each others, but there are no moderators. You can, of course, report threaths and coments as offensive, but there is actually nothing like the moderators here and at other MJ communities.

I come from michaeljackson.com, that was the first community I joined and I made a number of good friends there. Great friends, by the way.

So, I am sorry but I feel the comment of " judgement and small minded attitudes at michaeljackson.com because it is run by Sony"... is not quite right. In fact, we are always asking Sony to have moderators and you see... nothing done. Sony has nothing to do with the comments and interactions at the forum.

Anyway, I don't think there is any use in bringing the issues of other forums here. Each one has to deal with its own problems, but almost everywhere is the same issue: "you are newbie, so you better behave" or... "you are old, you better respect me". Waaayyy boring...

It seems that, at some point, we forget forums are done by their members. It's this simple: if we behave and respect other members, then the forum is great. If not, the forum is a mess. And does that has anything to do with the date below your avatar? I don't think so. Manners are manners anywhere, anytime.

Yes :) Though not all new members are new fans, we must also remember that.

I won't bleat on because most people have said what I wanted to say already.

But I was on michaeljackson.com before June and I have been a fan for 27 years.
Date someone joined here ain't nothin but a number. It's what's in your heart, and that you loved (and still love) Michael through it all that counts ;)

I've read through this whole thread for the last hour and half...looking over every comment and would like to say I love you all.

Im a member after June 25th but have been a fan for a good few years! Ive never felt i needed to come to fourms like this before. I loved Michael and that was amazing and all i needed! Then when he passed away (still so hard to say) , i felt like no one in my life could understand me. Then i came here met people who loved Mike and feel like i do, thats so amazing for me! Thank you to everyone who has ever said a kind word to me!:)

But i dont think people on here can pin the change in atmosphere on new fans. So many of them are lovely, theres bound to be a few bad apples in a group like this, its unfortunate, but what can be done that isnt already being done! It sad that it makes some old members stay away, it really is!
