Michael is the Global Icon... incomparable with Miley, she is like a Britney Boom in the 1996-2001, and then... bye bye..., Miley has no potential to be accepted for older generations, and once, she will be 25 or 30..., who will listen to/buy her albums???

Anyway, outside the USA she is unknown..., or only as a teeny serial star... for kids 6-15

Michael has beaten SMiley Cyprus yet... and... its not the end.... + DVD sale will be huge too....

Judging from this is seemed like everyone went to see the Hanna Montana film within the first two days and then it dropped steeply after that while sales for Michael's film actually maintained themselves. This means that This Is It could still have a strong 2nd week in the US. If the film is having its run extended beyond Thanksgiving in the US then that means it could gross somewhere in the region of $60-$100 million over there.

The five-day total already makes “This Is It” the highest-grossing concert film of all time, far outpacing “Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour,” which grossed $70.6 million world-wide when Walt Disney Co. released in last year.

I still can't believe it that we are comparing TII with that HORRIBLE Miley's movie....
My prediction for total gross of TII based on first week is around $250 milion .

What I am concerned of is that the hype about TII will fall down too fast, and the second week will be very poorly visited ..., I still cant believe that the teeny little madam is so successful...

that gives us the question... where are those MJ fans who showed the mourning for MJ in July/June???

Some fans decided not to go and see the film because they think they would be too emotional in the cinema and prefer to wait to watch it on DVD within the privacy of their own home which I can completely understand. I was worried I would be too emotional but I'm glad that I did go and see the film in the end.

Hey it was a good 3D concert may have been $15 but yea. Michael would have gotten his own 3D concert movie if it weren't for Dr.Murder

Don't get me wrong even thou I am a fan of Miley (slowly declining for Michael) I still am rooting for Michael to win

DONT forget that we are comparing the Hannah montana MOVIE and not the Hannah montana CONCERT FILM. The concert film is what we should care about and se got only $70 worldwide.

It didn't have a chance since it was released in fall when all the kids were in school and when kids were celebrating Halloween. Adults are more willing to take their time to see things but kids and younger people clamor to see it right away.

Where do people get this $ 75 million internationally from? The sources I read only say about $ 5 million internationally for Hannah Montana.....

People are mixing two differen film up here!

'Best of Both worlds' was the concert movie (similar to MJ's in genre), which took less than $70mil in the US and only about $75mil worldwide (in 15 weeks!).

'Hannah Montanna' is a children's movie, based on the TV series, (a 'normal' cinema movie release), which took about $150mil worldwide.

MJ's movie is 'competing' with 'Best of Both Worlds' - although it will probably beat both of them in the end.

It's ridiculous to even compare Miley Cyrus to Michael Jackson...

I'm happy. I know it shouldn't matter. HM is NO WAY NO HOW in the same league as Mike, but I wanted that to be reflected. Ane even though these numbers do not reflect the hugh difference between them, I can settle for this.

I maintain that is unreasonable to compare TII to Ms Cyrus' movie. One is a finished product - lighting, costume, sound, other effects (crowd response, etc). The other - TII - is about the process TOWARDS a finished product.

If Michael had died after the first performances in London and a film was released of those performances that I would be keen on the 'competition'.

But in this scenario, I do not see the sense of the comparison.

And to put it perspective - I was talking to a friend of mine today about it (sharing my frustration) and she said 'who is Miley Cyrus?' LOL.

At this point I no longer care about the numbers. I really want TII to do as well as it can in the theaters and the album to sell well.

At this point I am taking the opportunity to go as often as I can to watch MJ on big screen and surround sound.

It is for us FANS to enjoy, appreciate, respect, admire, be inspired and love. I hope haters and non haters get to see the pure genius of Michael but everything is secondary.

Its really for you and me. I really don't care about the critics or the what the media will have to say.

Except I don't think one being fnished or not being finished makes the difference here as that goes to quality, and based on critic raves alone, TII is superior in quality even in its unfinished state. Plus, you have MJ's incomparable talent.

I think the comparison really cannot be made because of age demographics. Kids went to see Miley. And just like an animated film will draw a large audience and huge boxoffice compared to a drama, Miley's audience drew a massive young audience.

I took my niece to see Ice Age, and it was chaos with all the kids. I saw adults with 6 or more kids in tow. On the other screen was Johnny Depp's Public Enemies and the crowd was minimal. But you put Johnny back in one of the Pirates movie, and he has huge box office.

A better comparison for TII would be a Madonna. or Beatles, etc. concert documentary.

I just want MJ to outdo Miley because it means he's number one. Don't care that the comparison isn't fair. I just want him to have the status. Childish, I know. But I can't help myself where he's concerned.
