The offical wrestling thread..News, spoilers and results.

Flair botched a few spots in his match with Taker where as Taker/HBK was flawless, well, except when I thought Taker broke his neck with that over the top rope leap.

yep it was flawless, but you are dealing with Shawn Michaels, he is better than Ric Flair, and Flair knows it.

My all time favourite wrestler Bret Hart is doing a book signing in my home town.I'm finally gonna get to meet him.I'm over the moon!

Flair's best opponents were IMO:

Sting
Shawn Michaels
Ricky Steamboat
Randy Savage

- The Undertaker let loose at the post-WrestleMania party last weekend in Houston. Taker actually played the emcee role at the party and surprised everyone by keeping things loose and having fun. Some people actually tried taking photos of Taker doing his thing but were quickly told by WWE handlers not to do so.

-- Shawn Michaels, who has not been seen since his epic match at WrestleMania, is currently taking some time off. That was actually the plan before Wrestlemania.

-- Undertaker was at last week's SmackDown/ECW duel taping in Austin, Texas, but wasn't used. However, he is scheduled full-time from this point forward.

The well-documented war of words between Hulk and Linda Hogan has taken an ugly turn. The New York Post has some quotes from a recent interview Hogan did with Rolling Stone magazine where he talks about understanding how O.J. Simpson could [allegedly] murder his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson.

Linda Hogan walked out on Hogan last year, filed for divorce, forced him out of his $18 million mansion, allegedly started spending the couple's money at the rate of $40,000 a month and is dating "some shaggy-haired pool boy 30 years her junior."

Hogan tells Rolling Stone, "I could have turned everything into a crime scene, like OJ, cutting everybody's throat. You live half a mile from the 20,000-square-foot home you can't go to anymore, you're driving through downtown Clearwater and see a 19-year-old boy driving your Escalade, and you know that a 19-year-old boy is sleeping in your bed, with your wife . . . I totally understand OJ. I get it."

As reported earlier today — and later confirmed on tonight's episode of Raw — Chris Jericho is a member of the SmackDown roster following the live draft.

According to a company source, Jericho will be feuding with The Undertaker this summer.

- For the second straight week, Finlay had his arms raised at the end of the Elimination Chase to Backlash contest, pinning Tommy Dreamer. He and Christian advance to face each other on the premiere episode of WWE Superstars this Thursday night on WGN America.

Matt Hardy vs. Undertaker has also been announced for the show.

-- You can catch a replay of tonight's episode fo E:60 featuring a profile on Vince McMahon and a look at the inner workings of World Wrestling Entertainment this Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN2.

-- Today is four-time WWE Women's Champion Amy "Lita" Dumas' birthday. She turns 34 years old.

-- As expected, the backstage reaction to the 25-Diva Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXV was largely negative, especially among those involved in the match. Just about everyone was upset with the quality of the bout afterwards, realizing they weren't given much time to make the match stand out and that it was largely a platform for Santino Marella's comedy act.

-- After it was announced that Melina was moving to SmackDown, Raw went to a commercial and fellow Divas Mickie James and Kelly Kelly started hugging her goodbye. The WWE Women's Champion got emotional and started crying during this. Howard Finkel also noted last night in his live Raw blog that The Bella Twins comforted her backstage.

-- Michelle McCool posted a blog on the WWE Universe last Sunday discussing the Draft, her WrestleMania experience, and more.

On the possibility of being on the same show as Melina on, McCool wrote: "I'd really like to be on the same show as her at this point! One reason, the women's championship. I WILL go down in history as not only the first ever divas championship, but the first diva to ever hold both the Women's title and Divas Championship. Mark my words...it will happen! Not only that, it's been almost 4 years since Melina and her 2 cronies at the time delivered the "snapshot" on me that put me out of action for several months. I can forgive, but I don't forget!"

I had a feeling they would switch the US and IC belts....didn't think they'd move the Womens and Divas belts or the WWE title. They're setting up the unification of the WWE and World title belts again

The Undertaker Retiring in 2010?

- Towards the end of the WWE RAW live show last night in Dublin, Ireland, the lights went out and The Undertaker's bell went off. WWE ring announcer Tony Chimel then announced that WWE's tour of Europe next April in 2010 would be a part of The Undertaker's retirement.

It seems unusual that WWE would announce something as big as the retirement of one of their biggest stars at a live event but two different fan reports from the show say the same thing. If we hear anything else, we will definitely pass it on.

I have seen several independent reports now from people who attended both house shows in Ireland and they have confirmed that Tony Chimel made no mention of an Undertaker retirement tour, he only announced that there would be a “Rest In Peace” tour. Those who have said otherwise must have misheard. Common sense suggests that they would not announce the retirement of a major WWE superstar at a house show, and so far in advance.
Breathe and relax.

Respect the Deadman found out he signed a 3 year contract in January of this year. So that means 20-0 and a title reign.

Has anyone noticed the tension between the announcers? Lawyer and Cole sometimes act like they don't wanna be near each other, and JR sometimes talks down to Grisham....

I can't watch original wrestling anymore, I agree with the Wrestlemania reviewer who said WWE has gotten downright boring. Even the bad ones bore you. How long can you go on with hearing Mrs. Guerrero going "excuse me!?! excuse me!?!" I mean, I'm sure even Vickie's late husband is shaking his head going "woman, just quit, they don't like you, mami." LOL! Plus the Vickie/Edge love story is one of the most cliche skits that has ever come on there. Sure ratings are still healthy but it's not as it used to be. I just hate to see that Shawn & the Undertaker are heading into the twilight of their years and I fear the guys remaining on there won't revive the genre. Even John Cena doesn't hold my interest like Stone Cold once did. And Randy Orton's schtick has gotten tired QUICK!

Tombstone Reads: Calm Amidst the Storm

I have taken it upon myself to write something of a ‘mini article’ just addressing the particular rumor that surfaced all over the internet today. As a pre-cursor to my actually beginning a full column soon enough, I thought perhaps I’d flex my chops a little and get out something that has bugged me all day. Now, as Undertaker fans we are certainly no stranger to the good ole ‘Retirement Rumors’. I believe he has been in the process of retiring for about ten years now which is an epic achievement by itself. The worlds first ever induction into the Hall of Fame purely on ‘Longest Retirement Ever’ grounds. Come on, you know how sarcastic I am by now guys! Dont take me so seriously.
At any rate. We’re used to this, it’s no shock. Every couple of months someone pops up somewhere on the great wide interwebs and claims they know for sure that ‘Taker is retiring on ‘X date’ for ‘X reason’. This is old hat, we should read these rumors and by this time just be leaping into a complete state of apathy. However, that being said; We do know the time must come one day. As sad and as heartbreaking as that shall be for everyone that loves him (and I’m sure there will be parties thrown worldwide for those people that can finally say ‘HEY! I was RIGHT!’). We know it’s coming. When? That’s anybodies guess. Hopefully not soon but by the same token as a human being as well as a fan if physically this job is no longer the correct one for him, I welcome the day he bows out. As long as the man himself is alive and well that’s just fine by me. It’ll be sad to see him go, but rather bow out on top than fade away. Right?
However. This is a very big however. All of that notwithstanding I think I speak for everyone when I say ‘PLEASE.. let the madness END!’… if people insist on leaping all over his every limp with retirement rumors I swear soon I’ll be going on my own Rest In Peace tour. Door to door. I’m not joking. Mayank you’re first ;) . Let’s just take a quick look at the facts we know today, shall we?
So the WWE announced a ‘Rest In Peace’ tour for next April. Oh the ambiguity of it all. He’s only been saying “Rest In Peace” since the very early 90’s. Longest retirement ever and no mistake. However yes, it does sound a little suspect. Is it his time? Maybe. Maybe not. Why maybe not? Because to coincide with the “Rest in Peace” tour, there has also been announced, for RAW, the “DX Invasion” tour. So, by this logic that would tell us that either Taker, Shawn and Hunter are all retiring next April. OR, it’s just a clever snappy name for what is basically just another European tour. Hmm? For all we know, Taker will be the Champion by then! I’m tapping the side of my head here and winking. I haz a smart.
So please, folks. Put down the pitchforks. Step away from the edge of the bridge. Breathe calmly. Yes, his time will come one day and if it’s next April, so be it. But in a year a lot can happen. In a year plans change. I mean come on, it’s just a name. While on the subject of retirements, look how well Ric Flairs has worked for him so far. Ha! Need I say more. On that note I tip my hat and bow out. Have a nice day.

Breaking Report: Jeff Hardy Leaving WWE?

Partial Source: PWInsider.com

SmackDown wrestler Jeff Hardy has handed in his notice to World Wrestling Entertainment. He has three months left on his contract and is refusing to sign an extension at the current time. They've offered him several separate deals and he's turned them all down as of this point.

It's being said that he is very burned out and looking to do some other things outside of wrestling, so there is a very good possibility that he won't be renewing his contract when it comes due this summer. This could explain his losses to his brother in recent weeks.

More details on this story as it develops.

**SPOILERS** Partial WWE Superstars Results

Here are the WWE Superstars and dark match main event results from RAW:

WWE Superstars:

They taped Kane and The Big Show defeating CM Punk and Rey Mysterio.

Out come Jim Ross and Todd Grisham. That means that the next match was definitely for WWE Superstars.

Edge defeated Kofi Kingston in a long match when he hit the Spear and got the pinfall.

In the dark match main event, John Cena defeated Edge via pinfall. Afterwards, Edge got on the mic and said everyone is out to get him since he just had to have a match with Kofi before facing Cena. He said that he will get the World Title back at Backlash.

More WWE Superstars matches will be taped tomorrow at the SD! and ECW tapings.

**SPOILERS** WWE RAW Results

* Beth Phoenix is out next with Rosa Mendes.

* Melina b. Beth Phoenix to retain the WWE Women's Championship.
- Melina gets the win with a flip followed by a powerbomb.

* John Cena b. Chris Jericho via Disqualification
- John Cena comes out to a lot of heat. Jericho gets a small pop. Jericho later gets several huge chants throughout the live audience. Good back and forth match. Cena connects with the Attitude Adjustment for the close fall, but Edge comes out and interferes. Edge gets a big pop while Cena leaves to heat.

* Rey Mysterio vs. Big Show is up next…

* Big Show b. Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio in a non-title match.
- Rey gains control early on. Big Show quickly takes control of the match and gets the win.

* Randy Orton b. WWE Champion Triple H in a non-title, No Disqualification match
- Triple H comes out to a huge pop. Randy Orton gets a mixed reaction from the crowd. Lots of back and forth action with tables, trash cans, and the ring stairs. Hunter remains in control until Legacy comes out. Shane McMahon follows. Batista then comes out and accidently hits Shane. Orton gets the win via pinfall on Hunter. This concludes this week's edition of Raw.

- Darren Aronofsky’s “The Wrestler” will be released tomorrow (4/21) on DVD and Blu-Ray.
- Hulu.com, a great site for watching full length episodes of countless past and present television shows, now features a channel for World Wrestling Entertainment shows. The 5 main categories are Raw, Smackdown, ECW, Classics & Extras. For fans looking to catch up on WWE programming, this is a great free alternative to WWE’s Classics On Demand and online Legacy pay services. Some of the videos link directly to WWE.com, but most are hosted directly by Hulu.com and feature short video ads.
- According to Variety.com, Fox Atomic, the division of 20th Century Fox which recently distributed the box office bomb “12 Rounds” starring John Cena, has been shut down. Fox Atomic was launched in 2007 and all of Atomic’s projects currently in progress will be distributed directly through 20th Century Fox.
- In an interview with Canada’s Times & Transcript publication, former WWE Diva Trish Stratus explained to writer Eric Lewis what she thinks is wrong with WWE’s women’s division. “It is disappointing. I think what it is, they have too many women. And I think they can’t even see who’s who because there’s so

-- WWE recently issued a directive prohibiting the commentators from mentioning the names of the referees during television broadcasts.

-- A few comments made on commentary following the Evan Bourne vs. John Morrison match on last week's episode of ECW were edited out of the show's replay over the weekend (which airs on Universal HD on Saturday nights). Matt Striker used the term "match of the year candidate" with Josh Matthews calling it a "five-star match." Both terms were stricken from the replay.

-- The local promoters for the Raw brand's tour of Mexico next month were upset with Rey Mysterio being drafted to SmackDown because they had promoted the tour around him. As a result of the protesting, Mysterio is back on the tour, as is Umaga. It remains unclear whether Umaga is heading back to Raw, as he is advertised to wrestle Mysterio on two shows even though he is a member of SmackDown. Everyone else taking part on the tour besides Mysterio is on Raw.

Major Update On Jeff Hardy's Future, MTV Reality Show?

Posted by Feras Ballout on 04/29/2009
Source: prowrestling.net

We've been covering the story about Jeff Hardy's WWE contract status and the possibility of Jeff taking time off when it expires this summer. Jeff has turned down several of WWE's attempts to sign him to a new contract and the former WWE champion is said to be considering extended time away from the ring.

The latest is that Jeff has been giving the impression to friends that he will in fact re-sign with WWE before his contract expires this summer. While he is burned out with the hectic travel schedule, his willingness to walk away from WWE has given him negotiating leverage and he will likely ask for a reduced schedule, similar to the Undertaker's deal.

In related Hardy news, the former WWE Champion has had talks with MTV regarding a reality television series. Matt and Jeff currently produce the online video show "The Hardy Show" and the MTV series would likely tie into that.

The Great Khali's WWE Contract, Update on Ted DiBiase's Turn

Posted by Marc Middleton on 04/29/2009
Source: Wrestling Observer

- Apparently The Great Khali's WWE contract does not allow him to return to India without company approval as he filmed a movie, Rama the Savior, the last time he was home, some additional post-production work was needed and they couldn't get him back to India to finish it. Several of the actors had to be flown from India to Los Angeles to complete the project where Khali was.

- The backstage segment on RAW recently where Ted DiBiase was seen talking to Cody Rhodes behind Randy Orton's back was done because there is a thought of eventually turning DiBiase and making him a top babyface star. The plan is that they want him to be a strong babyface by the time The Marine 2 is released on DVD this year. As noted earlier, Ted DiBiase Sr. recently said at a speaking engagement that WWE was planning on turning his son face for The Marine 2 release.

Backstage WWE Draft News, Issues in WWE Developmental, More

- If you were wondering, there was no consideration on WWE's end to bring in Bobby Lashley before he ended up in TNA, mainly because of the obvious reasons and also because they aren't interested in him part-time nor do they want anyone in their company doing MMA where they can't control the outcomes.

- We know now that at least three of the top names who switched brands in the Draft this year were told at the TV tapings the week before the Draft. It made for better morale and people feeling like they were treated with respect.

- One top WWE star who spoke to the Wrestling Observer this past week noted that the biggest issue WWE isn't addressing is their developmental territory. The star mentioned seeing just about all the developmental talents training when WWE held their last TV tapings in Florida and felt that nobody stood out at all. The same star noted that instead of Dean Malenko, Arn Anderson and Ricky Steamboat working out with the talents, it was Shelton Benjamin and felt that the up and coming WWE talents badly need to learn the stuff that guys like Arn and Ricky know.

Has anyone noticed the tension between the announcers? Lawyer and Cole sometimes act like they don't wanna be near each other, and JR sometimes talks down to Grisham....

yea i know its always happening nowadays , u hear the aguement between the 2 at wrestlemanaia when cole said matt killed jeffs dog ?

Video Of The Week: Texas Red
We travel back to the late 1980s when Mark Calaway was only around 20 years old! You may recognise the man by his side, it’s none other than Paul Bearer. Calaway goes under the name Texas Red as he takes on Frank “The Bruiser” Brody in one of his first professional matches. Brody worked pretty stiff on Calaway to say the least. Still what’s done is done. Twenty or so years later and Texas Red is one of the biggest stars in the history of professional wrestling. How far he has come.
