The Thriller short film is currently sitting at 930,432,984 views

6 days later its sitting at 931,670,000 meaning it gained 1.24 million views in that time. This is only 206K views per day. At this rate it won't be hitting a billion until September 2024.

No it is not possible that Thriller will have a billion views in the time of Halloween, mabye Beat It can get it at the time.

I never understood why thriller is so far behind Billie Jean. I’m fairly certain if you ask random people to name 2 MJ songs thriller is one of them, the other being billie jean and or beat it

Beat IT end of october possible yes

I think Beat It should have been the goal. I understand the reasoning for the 1-billion for Thriller challenge, but if it's not about him charting Thriller than there is no reason Thriller has to be the primary focus at this moment, except for that it will of course gain traction with Halloween. I think we could have done the Thriller Challenge with a goal of hitting top 10 on Billboard. Last year it wasn't possible due to some other releases that derailed the possibility of it. I don't see the energy for this challenge this year and I think it's because it's just such a mammoth goal. At least that's how I feel.

I hate to be negative about it though. I love anything that focuses on Michael and his legacy.

Billie Jean is his signature-song. Additionally Thriller ist about 12 minutes. 3 times longer then a normal length video.

Agreed.

I don't listen to a huge amount of radio any more but, as far as I can tell, Thriller is hands down still the main signature song for Michael in the UK. Billie Jean gets mentioned as the song which took his solo career to a whole other level but Thriller is still the one that people mention more than any other. Not just at Halloween, not just on radio but in the media generally or in normal daily life. It's basically a word association thing. Michael Jackson = Thriller. I'm not saying this is a bad thing. But that's how it is in the UK or so it seems to me. Not sure why it doesn't translate into higher streaming figures but I don't understand streaming anyway so ... 🤷‍♀️

"Just in case anyone tries this, rules for Billboard Hot 100 for legacy artists (re Thriller)#1 - Thriller must have a "meaningful" reason to chart, like a viral trend on Tik Tok, part of a current movie soundtrack, or the week of Halloween.#2 - 3 factors to chart: Pure sales, streaming, radio play.#3 - Only US counts. If you're looking for International fans to help, then target the Billboard Global 200. For this chart, most international sales and streams count, and radio play is not factored in."

This isn't even possible. It's so overly ambitious.

Thriller album rose 34 spots to nr 149 in this weeks chart in Flanders (Belgium). In Wallonia the other part of Belgium it dropped 8 spots to 178. Thriller hasn’t left the charts since T40 was released. I wish they would just join the damn charts but there is just too big a difference in music taste between both regions
