US Sales 2023MJ sold 977,000 albums through the end of August.
Sales are expected to reach 1,5 m by the end of the year.
By comparisonTHE BEATLES 1,2 THE EAGLES 722K MARIAH CAREY 550KMADONNA 350K
All these acts are getting some form of promotion in 2023 except MJ.

EDIT - it's about getting Thriller to 1 billion by the end of Oct 2023

Not the most typical chart but, Thriller's in the top 25 selling albums on Discogs for August 2023:
(It was in there also in June.)

I love this. Actual, physical sales. Gotta be happy about that. In the mix with Lana and Taylor and all the rest. Love it. :)

Yes I am still disappointed they didn’t release the remaining 2 songs. I reckon TLIML could have reached top 10 in 1985 if it had a video. Baby be mine probably would have peaked top 20.
I’m also still sad that tell me i’m not dreaming wasn’t released. It would probably have been nr 1 in 1985
 
According to Guinness World Records, Michael Jackson's Thriller has sold 3.8m copies in Brazil. According to the Brazilian charts, Michael Jackson sold more than 2.8M records in Brazil just from 2003 to 2017. Although Michael Jackson sold several million more copies & generated millions of dollars for Sony, they ONLY certified 4 titles by MJ, meaning only 280k units in Brazil were certified. Sony Music was contacted directly, Pro Musica replied that @sonymusicbrasil HAS NEVER MADE ANY REQUEST to certify Michael Jackson's catalogs. I was in touch with Sony Music Brasil Digital Innovation Strategy Manager Luciana Almeida in March of this year. She promised me that she would discuss it with her team, but even after 6 months not even a single Michael Jackson Album/song/DVD was certified in Brazil.

God knows how many they've uncertified everywhere else
