Ahaaa!!Kraka! Volsunga Saga!
oh, I can't stand opera. I mean, there are a few singers I love and the odd aria here and there. But, as an art form, it mostly leaves me cold.Interesting ... I really only love sopranos that have a very full timbre, and, admittedly, I do not like opera singing very much in general, ouch!
Absolutely!Sacred music, anytime, but opera not so much.

Maria Callas, Teresa Berganza, Joan Sutherland (but not too much). Er ... who else?
Is that it?
I love the overture from Tannhauser. The Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde. Er ...
Opera is not my thing. Ballet is but not opera!
Absolutely!
She really is. She was on the radio a lot when I was a kid. BBC Radio 3, classical music. Teresa Berganza I came across in my teens but Maria was there from very early on. I'm not an expert on her, by no means. I haven't listened to loads of her stuff. But some of her recordings are unbelievable.Maria Callas is just otherworldly!!!
ooh, I'll have to leave this for later. Or tomorrow. Haven't seen this in such a long time but, yes, a really affecting scene. Well, the whole film but this part in particular. Everything about it. Oh, you've got me going now ...This is maybe a clicheé, but that scene with Tom Hanks listening to Maria Callas singing LA MAMMA MORTA almost destroyed me ...... as it did everyone seeing that movie, I guess
