The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

I know some people might be disappointed by the amount of "finished" material. But, I see lots of potential in making something with this, even if it's not all "hits". But there is potential for that too.

A comprehensive box set of every song found on those notes from MJ, featuring every song, no matter the state, could easily be made. Just call it Rocker. A look at what could have been. Potential material for Michael Jackson's final album.

How many one word song names are there for the record, @AlwaysThere?

Monster would be a sick name. A little odd for a posthumous release though, and not the same because it's unfinished. But man, I'd be cool with that.

It does sound cool, but I doubt the Estate would want to use it as a title after the Cascio fiasco. Then again...

Bryan Loren
  • One of around 20-25 songs recorded with Bryan Loren during sessions for Dangerous between 1989-1991.
  • Recorded in November 1989.
  • Reworked for "HIStory" and "Invincible

Ehh, not the first time songs in MJ's camp sound similar.

Dreams and Changes would also be good post Invincible names, but there's gotta be one more, one perfect name out there.

Was the song "Legacy" real or was that moe fan conjecture? I could've sworn there was a lotta talk about the "Legacy" album.

@ChanceToDance covered every one I’m aware of!

I always liked Chicago 1945 as the title for a studio album. Not a one-word title, but I can’t think of any other title that really works. As for a box set, I wouldn’t turn away a HIStory Book II, with demos of greatest hits instead of outright reissues.

I was thinking earlier the title "I Am Forever" sounded cool. Sure, it comes from an already released track, but seems kinda fitting, assuming this set would feature some material from his final years.

I mean this respectfully, but this is a Wikipedia entry, and it should not he considered reliable, if you truly want to understand unreleased music. As far as I am aware, the above track is a complete myth.

Alternatively, I suggest works like Making Michael by Mike Smallcombe, Xscape Origins by Damien Shields, Man In The Music by Joe Vogel, the MJCast YouTube channel, and the slew of tweets made by Damien on Twitter.

Can u told me about Joe Vogel and MJ cast and Mike smallcombe what they said about unreleased songs ?

The 'Legacy' album is of course fake (fan made).

Just like the 'Resurrection' fake album, the so-called follow-up to the 'Invincible' album.

Some people claim that 'Sunflower' was meant for the 'Off The Wall' album, and later also for the 'Thriller' album.

It depends on the source reference of the Wikipedia entry.

They could've renamed it to Chicago, no 1945. But that ship has sailed...

"Michael McKeller wasn’t mentioned in any notes that I’ve seen, but there was a CD with what appeared to be “McKeller” written on it in MJ’s handwriting."
At this point I won't be surprised if MJ was working on Who Do You Know or some other random old song as well lol.
What's the relation between who do you know and Michael McKeller

There isn't one, as far as I know. ChanceToDance was just using those as an example of MJ revisiting unused tracks years later. And even then, it's not confirmed Michael McKellar was revisited. Just a possibility. Could've been an old tape that was digitized and put on disc.

I'd say it's likely it's just a demo that MJ wanted to hear again yeah.

In that case I would prefer 'Chicago Nights' over 'Chicago 1945'!

That seems to be the most promising era, yea. I had more of the post-Invincible era in my mind when I wrote the question, but I see how that might be open to interpretation. We'll see. 😂
You didn't specify which era so I assumed you meant all eras in general lol. Damien already answered that question I think, he said that I Have This Dream and I Was The Loser are the closest to being complete.
