mmm. i think its true that we should wait for confirmation about a theatrical release from the estate. Remember how Kenny Ortega told us there'd by hours of unused TII footage on the blu-ray/dvd....and there wasnt. Anyway I still there's a good chance it will go to the cinemas if Katy Perry can manage to..

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary [Discussion]

OMG so it's confirmed that the documentary will have a theatrical release! My prayers have been answered. Here's hoping that it will not only blow away fans, I know it will, but also critics and the industry and is lauded and awarded :) Go Spike Lee and Go Bad 25!!!

wow, thats great news!

IMO it's not confirmed until the Estate confirm it, so I'm not getting my hopes up, although after seeing Spike's tweet I'm cautiously optimistic.

Actually, there was. Lot of unused footage actually. Lots of footage with new angles, lots of new clips from songs not on the movie setlist, footage of MJ and Travis in front of the mirror dancing, footage about the clothes, about the dancers, etc. There were LOADS of new things on the Blu-Ray.

Not sure what exactly you bought, but all of that stuff is on my TII Blu-Ray...

Most clips are about 1-3 seconds long, but people don't credit how cool some of the stuff on the Blu-ray actually is, your right. Like MJ in the mirror, and the TDCAU at 'Centre Staging' in the early TII rehearsals.

Great news!!

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary [Discussion]

I hope they also include footage like this from backstage during Bad Tour:

I feel little non-moments like this back stage, just seeing him walk around, talking to his band/dancers, walking to stage is unusually interesting.

(by the way, if you watch the whole video, it's obviously a combination of footage from various stuff, hence the lounis productions part from the 2nd leg, and etc. just sayin')

Ah that clip is amazing, I remember I downloaded it lol. It is quite fascinating watching stuff like this. I agree, I hope they include loads of stuff similar to some of that footage.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary [Discussion]

Its funny. Theres like 2 Japanese documentaries. One from first leg, the other from 2nd.

The 2nd one looks more "produced". Like, they have a part where they film him walking to the stage and it looks all epic and there's shadows and silhouettes n stuff.

I prefer just seeing him normally walk with his huge security entourage :D

Every time I see this footage, I think that by the time he reaches the stage he would have had a good workout. That was a long walk.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary [Discussion]

I like how he looks vaguely nervous. He's quiet, clapping hands, touching the walls, etc.
My fav line: "Y'all gonna hurt me again?"

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary [Discussion]

I never thought he looked nervous. I just thought he was shy and self-conscious with the camera following. He is shy when not performing. It seems the belt strap and buckle between the legs makes him look awkward when he walks.

Redford, Spike Lee, Malick Films To Premiere In Venice

Robert Redford, “Scarface” director Brian de Palma and “Tree of Life” director Terrence Malick will screen their new movies at the Venice Film Festival, while Spike Lee debuts a documentary about the late Michael Jackson.
The 11-day festival starts Aug. 29 and has 16 movies competing for the Golden Lion trophy. They include Malick’s “To the Wonder,” a romantic drama starring Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams, and De Palma’s thriller “Passion,” also with McAdams, organizers announced on the festival’s Website.

Screening out of the official competition are Redford’s “The Company You Keep,” with Redford, Shia LaBeouf, and Julie Christie; and Spike Lee’s two-hour Jackson documentary “Bad 25.”
Actors Zac Efron and Dennis Quaid star in the in- competition title “At Any Price,” directed by Iranian-American Ramin Bahrani.
The festival’s opening movie is Mira Nair’s “The Reluctant Fundamentalist,” with Riz Ahmed, Kate Hudson and Kiefer Sutherland. It ends with a title starring Gerard Depardieu: “L’Homme Qui Rit” (“The Man Who Laughs”), directed by Jean- Pierre Ameris.

^ Thanks bubs, exciting. Wonder who'll be walking the red carpet to promote this film, we can all guess who won't be.

My fave 'walk to the stage' is the triumph tour footage from that '84 michael mania doc. All the bros are walking normally as if to the supermarket and mj is so totally different, completely in the zone, so intense, doing his high kicks to limber up, like a racehorse or prize fighter going to the ring.

I don't think he looks nervous either, I think it's just the adrenaline flowing through his body before a show, it's like he can't wait :D
