Dearest Michael - We Love You and We Miss You!

? Dearest Michael ? Thank you so very much for all the beauty you've given the world. Thank you for sharing your talent, for the happiness, the excitement, the magic, the anticipation, the wonder, the mastery, for all that's shiny and sparkly and so splendidly bright. Thank you for the music, the words, the tunes that will never get old. Thank you for singing to us with that beautiful voice. Thank you for the emotion, the elation and all that was such a true revelation. Thank you for the dance, the dance, wow - the dance! Thank you for the energy, the beat, for the movement you channeled from God to your feet. Thank you for the smiles, the laughter, the joy of life that shone in your eyes and went straight to our hearts. Thank you for your daring, your innovation, for keeping the world on its toes with cutting edge inspiration. Thank you for the dreams, the surprises, the fantasy and the hope. Thank you for the adventure and for challenging the status quo.

Thank you for your strength, your courage, for never giving up, even when it seemed the whole world was against you. Thank you for not giving in when you knew you were right, for standing and fighting for truth, without spite. Thank you for your determination and endurance, although we'd have given anything if only it hadn't been needed.

Thank you for living from the soul, for your kindness and caring, for trying to make a difference, for letting your light shine and brighten so many lives. Thank you for not being afraid to cry, to show us we could really try to be who we are inside, for making it cool to be God's glow, hold hands and heal the world. Thank you for never letting us forget the children of the world, our future, so desperately in need of love and protection. Thank you for reminding us that we are the children, that innocence will guide us in the right direction.

Thank you for always being so gorgeous inside and out that we couldn't help but chase you. Thank you for the hugs, for loving us more, for your patience with we who intensely adore. Thank you for the comfort and gentleness you radiated from within. Thank you for the gift of awakening, to each other and to the heartbeat of the planet. Thank you for all the wonderful things I've forgotten in this moment that I'll think of later and wish I'd added to this list. Thank you for all the years, even the ones in which we shed tears, for in the end it was all for LOVE. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the LOVE. Love is what matters and we understand this so. But for the world to know it... did you really have to go??? Oh God ... Michael, we miss you. ? ? ?

All roses were purchased directly from the Passion Rose Growers.
Michael will never be forgotten, that is for sure! And on June 24/25 10.477 roses were delivered to Forest Lawn Glendale. Friends on Facebook posted the pictures:

"The rose speaks of love silently, in a language known only to the heart."

If I could have a rose for every time I thought of you, The world would be empty of them."

"A life filled with love, must have some thorns, but a life empty of love will have no roses."

Hicks: Michael Jackson made R. Kelly cry -- for joy

p.php

p.php

On the third anniversary of Michael Jackson's death. R. Kelly shared a story with People.com about the first day they met -- and how they ended up at a Chicago mall.

Kelly details in his upcoming book "Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me" about how he wrote "You Are Not Alone" for Jackson, and met him when Jackson began recording the song.

"He looked at least eight feet tall," Kelly wrote. "He looked like an avatar. He was wearing a black mask over his face. Only his eyes were showing.

Finally, Mike walked over to me. He looked in my eyes, opened his arms, and gave me the hug of my life, whispering to me in his lighter-than-air, soft, high voice. 'The world's gonna be singing this song.'

"I blurted out something silly like, 'Congratulations on everything you've done, Mike. Congratulations on being Michael Jackson.'

"Just about then, Bubbles the chimp pranced into the room. In my mind, I called Bubbles 'Trouble.' The chimp made me nervous.

'He's friendly, isn't he, Mike?'

'Oh, yes, he's not going to hurt you.'

'Anyway,' I said, 'I'm just glad you like the song.'

'I don't like it, Rob. I love it. I don't want to change one thing. I want to sing it just the way you wrote it. You captured me beautifully. That's the reason I came here. We can get started just as soon as I do my vocal warm-ups.'

"'If you excuse me for a minute,' I said, 'I'll be right back.'

"I walked to the bathroom and just fell out on the floor. I broke down and cried. It wasn't that Michael Jackson was singing my song; it was that Michael had felt how I'd caught his spirit. Michael Jackson had come to Chicago to work with me!

"'Rob,' he said in that high, singsong voice, "would you mind coming in here and singing backgrounds with me?'

"Mind? Are you kidding? Michael Jackson was asking me to sing with him!
"I had to practically stop myself from running to the vocal booth. I paced myself so I could walk slowly, but in my heart I felt like a little girl.

"When we started to sing, the blend was perfect. We were butter and toast. He did that some rocking motion I'd seen him do on 'We Are the World.' Sitting there next to me -- my voice over his, his voice over mine -- I tasted heaven. Heaven on earth. Brother, this is as good as it gets.

"'You know, Rob," he said later that afternoon, "sometimes it can take me a month to get a song where I want it.'

"'Me, too, Mike,' I agreed. 'Sometimes it takes me more than a month.'

"'I'm glad you understand. You'll be patient with me, won't you?'

—I'll be whatever you want me to be, Mike. It's still like a dream for me."

Then, the King of Pop made an unexpected request

"'Can I ask you something else?'

"'Sure.'

"'Is there a mall around here, Rob?'

"'Just a couple of blocks away.'

"'Would you go there with me? I love malls.'

"'I love 'em too, Mike. Let's roll.'

This is where, out of respect for the King of Pop, we don't make a "What happens when Michael Jackson goes to the mall with R. Kelly" joke. Back to the story:

"With Bubbles and the security team in place, we went to Water Tower Place, one of the nicest malls in Chicago. Michael headed straight for the Disney store where he was fascinated by a larger-than-life statue of Donald Duck hung above the entrance.

"'That's beautiful,' said Michael. 'Do you think they'd sell it to me? I'd love to have Donald Duck for Neverland.'

"'Couldn't hurt to ask,' I said.

"Of course Michael Jackson walking into the Disney store caused a near-riot. When the manager appeared, Michael couldn't have been sweeter: 'Is there any way I could buy that Donald Duck?' he asked.

"'I'm afraid not, Mr. Jackson. It's permanently built into the front of the store.'

"'Oh, that's a shame,' Michael said politely. 'But thank you anyway, sir.'

"I'd never met anyone with better manners.

The pair worked on perfecting the song over the next three weeks and spent time chatting together in the studio.

"The experience of working with Mike was drama-free. Every night after he left the studio and got in his van, people were hanging out the windows of office buildings and hotels, stretching their necks to get a glimpse of him. He'd always stop and wave.

"When the job was done and it was time for him to leave Chicago, he gave me another hug and said, 'You're my brother.'

"I was too choked up to say anything."

Seth Riggs' Touching Memories About Michael (June 25, 2012)

It's probably posted also elsewhere on this forum but I just came across this touching video of Seth Riggs talking about Michael, his work ethos, his dedication, how he helped many people, told parents not to bring any money to Neverland, and more.

(If you cannot watch videos in Mozilla anymore like me, you can still watch them in Internet Explorer)

Michael's art at the Los Angeles Children's Hospital

Thanks to my friend Siren for allowing me to share her photos here!

Friends of mine did their annual pilgrimage to special Michael places around June 25th. They also visited the Los Angeles Children's Hospital, which has some of Michael's original artwork hanging on their walls. Some say that these are reproductions, others say they are the originals, I don't know for sure who is right. Fact is that these are interesting and intriguing to look at. The friend took detail photos too:

LA Pilgrimage - June 2012 - Part I

Some of my friends undertook another pilgrimage to Los Angeles in June 2012. The friend who took them, generously allowed me to share her photos here. Thank you Siren! This is Siren's story and that of her friend(s)

426776_382811575113621_1750405797_n.jpg

and I arrived in LA on the evening of June 19th, 2012. After checking into our hotel, we immediately went down to Hollywood Blvd to Michael's star. The Broken Heart Stone is directly in front of the Chinese Theatre, just before you get to Michaels star. We always stop and place our hands in Michael's palm print ? and touch His beautiful name.

293805_382811598446952_466719003_n.jpg

Michael's Star. When we arrived, they has just opened the sidewalks, so there were no candles or anything. Often Michael's star is unaccessible because of it's close proximity to the Chinese Theatre, so it frequently is barricaded off for events like movie/television premieres etc. This night we timed it just right. We brought a few flowers, some of my art cards and 7 red candles for Michael.

The next morning, we were off to Neverland, but stopped at Forest Lawn first, of course.

417443_382812468446865_1672431483_n.jpg

After our visit to Holly Terrace, we were off to make the long drive up to Neverland for 2 days. Along the way, we decided to stop at a Walmart. To pick up some candles, and Michael's new CD (which is not available in Canada). We bought the store out of all 11 copies. LOL.
We then spent the rest of the day in the Peace and Bliss that is Neverland.

After breakfast, we went into this little shop where Michael used to shop for music boxes. Ohhhhh.... I could barely breathe when we walked inside. It was absolutely PACKED with blingy little trinkets and treasures galore. It was filled with wonder and magic.... you just KNOW how much Michael loved this store. One of the ladies that worked there told us how much she liked Michael... that He was so polite and sweet... the kindest, gentlest person she'd ever met ? Of course!

Finally, after 2 days of Bliss, it was time for us to head back to LA. On the way, we stopped at the airport where we would be taking our helicopter flight over Neverland in a couple of days. It was so small and cute, with flower gardens everywhere. So nice!

After viewing Michael's art, we were floating in the biggest Bliss bubble ever. And to top it off, on our way to the parking lot to get our car, we stumbled on this! Woohoo!!!

BRETT RATNER ON MJ: YOU FELT LIKE GOD WAS WITHIN HIM

282371_305304772899877_1807593120_n.jpg

By Patrick Goldstein From the LA times:

My father loves to brag to his friends that while his son is a big-shot Hollywood reporter, it was his father who actually met Michael Jackson. Until he retired a few years ago, my dad had a store called the 24 Collection on the Lincoln Road Mall in Miami Beach that specialized in fashion, jewelry, art and one-of-a-kind oddities (I still have a clock set into a Cuban cigar box with a portrait of Fidel Castro on the clock face). One day Brett Ratner, who grew up in Miami and whose mother was a regular customer at the store, called my dad and asked if he could bring his pal Michael Jackson by to look around. As he often did as a courtesy for celebrities who might be annoyed or hounded, my father closed the store that afternoon and put the staff at Jackson's disposal.

"Michael walked around every inch of the store, feeling things, smelling things," my father remembers. "He'd ask questions about what this was or that was, where it was from, how we found it. I made sure the staff didn't intrude on him, although one person did ask for an autograph, which made them an ex-employee right away. But Michael was just off in his own world, curious about everything he saw."

I think my dad got his hopes up when he saw that Jackson was also accompanied by an aide who had a zippered envelope full of cash. But the King of Pop never bought anything. After spending an hour in the store, he just thanked everyone for letting him look around and left.

I called Ratner this morning to ask him how he became such fast friends with Jackson. It turns out that they met in 1998 when Ratner was finishing his first "Rush Hour" picture. One day, Chris Tucker was doing a scene and broke into a wild, Michael Jackson-style dance. The sequence was so funny that when Ratner had test screenings of the film, it got one of the biggest laughs in the picture. But because it was an obvious Jackson impression, Ratner knew he had to clear it with the pop star before he could put it in the movie.

That presented a problem, since Jackson was so reclusive that even Ratner, one of the great celebrity schmoozers of our time, couldn't get to him. He even called Jackson's Neverland ranch but never got anywhere. Then he got lucky. "My editor was talking to the projectionist who ran the final screening and it turned out that he was Michael's personal projectionist," Ratner told me today. "So I gave him the print and asked him to play the beginning of the second reel for Michael, which had Chris' dance in it."

Two days later Ratner picked up the phone and heard the soft, feathery voice of Michael Jackson. So what did Michael say? Keep reading.

"Michael said he'd watched the whole movie and loved it, especially the scene Chris did with his dance. He said, 'You have my permission to use whatever you want.' " That was great, but Ratner needed something in writing. When he asked Jackson to sign something on a piece of paper, Jackson simply invited him up to the ranch. "So I drove up there and walked in, with all his giraffes and other animals, all out there to greet me." Ratner recalls. "I ended up staying at the ranch and we just became great friends. We both had this huge, almost childlike fascination with movies and music and all kinds of entertainment."

Over the years, Ratner and Jackson spent an enormous amount of time together. They would film each other, with Jackson asking Ratner about how he became a film director and Ratner asking Jackson about how he became an entertainer. "I have hours of footage of us, sitting around in our pajamas, with me asking him about what kind of music he loved as a kid, what kind of books he had on the wall as a kid. When you were with him, you really felt like God was within him. He was an amazing, superhuman kind of person, but he always treated you as an equal. He would be your friend and he never asked for anything in return."

One of their favorite activities was to have dance-offs in the game room at Jackson's house. Jackson would put on a record, usually a song by his sister, Janet, and unleash some awesome dance moves. Then Ratner or Chris Tucker, who would sometimes come along, would play Michael's records and dance along to them. I asked Ratner if that felt a little like a mere mortal playing one-on-one with LeBron James. "Hey, I wasn't self-conscious. I'm a pretty good dancer. It was just fun to do it together."

When they weren't dancing, Ratner and Jackson would watch movies together. He says they must've watched the original version of "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" 50 times over the years. "I know that people looked at Michael and thought he was strange, but to me, he was fascinating," Ratner says. "He was the most inspirational person in my life. His one dream was to cure all the sick children in the world. And when I'd say, 'Isn't that impossible?' Michael would just start to cry. He was very emotional about things that moved him. I guess you'd have to say he was a pure innocent in a world that wasn't so innocent anymore."

Michael Jackson's 'Bood on the Dance Floor', 15 years later

The strange story behind the global hit, which was released a decade and a half ago today

Blood%20On%20The%20Dance%20Floor%20615.jpg

On June 6, 1990, producer/musician Teddy Riley was supposed to be at his friend and fellow band member's birthday party. Instead, he spent the night at a Soundworks Studio on 23rd Avenue in Queens, working on grooves for none other than the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

"I told [the group] I had a lot of work to do," Riley recalls. "Michael was my priority. I was going out to California to meet him soon, and he wanted me to bring my best work."

It was a fortuitous decision.

Later that evening, Riley learned someone was shot on the dance floor at the party he had skipped. He was shaken. At just 23 years of age, violence and death were already becoming a recurring theme in his life. Within that same year, his half-brother and best friend both had also been murdered.

Riley was shocked to learn Jackson's title for the track: "Blood on the Dance Floor." "He knew what it was about even before I told him what happened that night."

The rhythm track Riley worked on that night was aggressive, ominous, menacing. But it had no words, no title, and no melody.

The following Saturday he was on his way to Neverland Ranch to meet Michael Jackson. Riley was nervous. Jackson had already tried out a handful of people to replace legendary producer, Quincy Jones, including L.A. Reid, Babyface and Bryan Loren. None stayed on.

Jackson had high hopes, however, for Teddy Riley, whose street-inflected New Jack Swing style brilliantly fused jazz, gospel, R&B, and hip hop. Indeed, perhaps its greatest achievement was in bridging the divide between R&B and hip hop, a bridge, incidentally, that Jackson had been hoping to find since working on Bad.

Jackson listened carefully to the tapes Riley brought with him and instantly loved what he heard. The tracks used different chords than he was accustomed to. The rhythms were fresh and edgy. The beats swung with velocity and hit like sledgehammers.

Among several tracks Jackson listened to that day was the groove Riley worked on the night of the party. Jackson had no idea about the context. "He knew nothing about it," Riley says. "I never told him anything about it."

A couple of weeks later, however, Riley says he was shocked to learn Jackson's title for the track: "Blood on the Dance Floor." Riley got goose bumps. "It was like he prophesied that record. He felt its mood."

Over the subsequent months, Jackson and Riley began working feverishly on a variety of tracks, sometimes separately, sometimes together at Larabee Studios in Los Angeles. "I remember he came back with this melody, 'Blood on the dance floor, blood on the dance floor.' I was like, 'Wow!' He came up with these lyrics and harmonies. Then we just started building it up, layer by layer."

teddy%20riley%20ap%20images.jpg

Riley used a vintage drum machine (the MPC 3000) for the beat. The snare was compressed to make it pop ("I want it dry and in your face," Jackson used to say). It was a sound they used throughout the Dangerous album. "Listen to 'Remember the Time,'" Riley says. "It's very similar."

Ultimately, however, "Blood on the Dance Floor" didn't end up making it onto Dangerous. "It wasn't quite finished," Riley says. "There were still some vocal parts missing. Michael loved the song, but he would listen to it and say, 'I like what you did here, but we still need this here.' He was a perfectionist."

As the Dangerous sessions continued, other tracks began to take priority, including "Remember the Time" and "In the Closet." Jackson wouldn't resume work on "Blood" until nearly seven years later. It was now January of 1997. Jackson was in the midst of his HIStory World Tour, and had decided to visit Montreux, Switzerland during a break between the first and second leg (according to news reports, while there he also tried to purchase the home of his longtime idol, Charlie Chaplin).

Here, at Mountain Studio, Jackson went to work on the old demo. "We took Teddy's DAT (Digital Audio Tape) and worked it over with a four-man crew," recalls musician, Brad Buxer. The completed multi-track, engineered, and mixed by Mick Guzauski, was modeled very closely on the last version Jackson and Riley recorded.

"When I heard it finished, I wished I could've been the one to [complete it]," Riley says. "But Michael knows what he wants, and he was happy with it."

It was, in some ways, an unusual dance song. Like "Billie Jean," its subject matter was dark and disturbing (in this case, a narrative about being stabbed in the back in the place he least suspected--the dance floor). Jackson's clipped, raspy vocals evoke a sense of foreboding, as the electro-industrial canvas conjures a modern urban setting. Still, the song feels anything but bleak. The beat cracks out of the speakers like a whip and the hook is irresistible.

Jackson told Riley he believed the song was going to be a "smash." "He explained it like this: A hit is a song that stays on the charts for a week or two. A smash is a song that stays up there for six weeks," Riley says. "He felt 'Blood on the Dance Floor' was a 'smash.'"

"Blood on the Dance Floor" was released on March 21, 1997. Strangely, the song wasn't even promoted as a single in the U.S. Riley says Jackson didn't mind in this case. "He figured people in America would find it if they really wanted it. He wasn't worried about it." Globally, however, the song thrived, reaching the Top Ten in 15 countries and hitting No. 1 in three (including the U.K.). It also proved ripe for remixes and received frequent play in clubs and dance routines. Left off Jackson's two major studio albums that decade, "Blood" ironically became one of Jackson's most durable rhythm tracks of the '90s.

Fifteen years later, what makes the song unique? I ask Riley. "It was just a direct, aggressive sound for Michael. He always pushed for something stronger. But what was really amazing was how he pre-meditated the energy of the song. He knew what it was about even before I told him what happened that night. I've never witnessed anything or anyone as powerful as Michael."

Michael Jacksons First and Last India Performance (Bombay - 30 October to 01 November 1996)

Michael Jackson had scribbled on the pillow he had slept on..

"India all my life I have longed to see your face. I met you and your people and fell in love with you. Michael Jackson - When I was 10 I met Michael at Disneyland

398393_281230888611978_699527462_n.jpg

"I was 10. At Disney with my parents and uncle waiting in line for the Dumbo ride when all of a sudden a huge crowd surrounded us. A lady in a big white hat asked me if I wanted to cut the line. I, of course, said yes. Within seconds I was in the elephant waiting to "take off" when all of a sudden he appeared. To me, a huge fan at the time, it was a dream come true. One that was so overwhelming I still remember so clearly today my struggle to find words to speak. A lot of "uh hu's" and head nodding. Michael was "normal". Asked me my name, how old I was, where I lived, etc, etc.. Told me he loved Disney. I asked him questions about his video's and I think Madonna. That 3 minutes seemed like an eternity, but at the same time flew by.Though his career had it's up's and down's I think everyone in the business would agree he was an amazing talent who raised the bar on so many levels for so many entertainers, then, now, and in the future. Though I questioned his choices in his personal life, I still respect him professionally and thank him for his great contribution to the entertainment industry. I cherish my pictures and memories from my "3 minutes with Michael Jackson". It was, and still is, my best trip to Disney World ever. SLM"
