As it usually happens with other DVD's, maybe they will release a single disc theatrical version of the film for December and a Two Disc Special Edition for sometime in 2010, maybe MJ's birthday?

There is a very good chance that the movie will run till december... I have talked with people who have seen the movie and they were amazed! One even became a sort of Mike's fan and he said that this is a concert movie! THere is not much talking about Mike being super good dancer, singer....

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced the UK DVD and Blu-ray Disc release of Michael Jackson’s This Is It on 25th January 2010. Michael Jackson’s This is It offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the performer as he developed, created and rehearsed for his sold-out concerts that would have taken place beginning summer 2009 in London’s O2 Arena. Chronicling the months from April through June, 2009, the film is drawn from more than one hundred hours of behind-the-scenes footage, featuring Jackson rehearsing a number of his songs for the show.

It means the movie sequence MJ filmed for Smooth Criminal and Thriller performances will be in their entirety on the Blu-Ray/DVD and the making of those little movies too

It says Region 2 release Jan 2010. Usually Region 1 DVD releases are before the Region 2 ones. I wouldn't be surprised if the Region 1 still hits stores before X-mas....

I was contacted by a Sony representative requesting me to remove an announcement on my blog about the DVD release date 25th January 2010 and he said: “Sony did not make this announcement…”
Perhaps we might get it earlier or later!

Unfinished rehearsals? I assume the Blu-Ray edition is getting all the songs not in the movie (Dirty Diana for example)? Too bad not on the DVD format. Now I need Blu-Ray.

'This Is It' DVD Not Being Released Until February
(23-10-2009) Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” opens worldwide in theaters on October 28th. But according to Roger Friedman, you won’t be seeing in on DVD until February 2010.
That’s because the movie studios have a deal with DVD companies. There has to be a 90-day window after the movie has played in theaters before it’s available in stores.
“This Is It” is set to play for two weeks, from October 28th through November 13th. Sony won’t admit it, but if it does well, the documentary could get a one or two week extension in theaters.
Either way, count 90 days from the end of its theater run before you can buy it as a DVD. That means no Michael Jackson Christmas. The earliest it would turn up is February 13, 2010.
That nugget of info should create even more demand for tickets to the theater run. Even this reporter assumed “This Is It” would be the stocking stuffer of all time. But sources inside say no, and that’s it. Fans will have to rely on the collector’s item soundtrack CD featuring the songs from the movie in their original recorded versions.

I saw in in theatres and everyone was suprisingly quiet and respectful..but then again, I went at 4am!LOL There were some people there..maybe like around 25 ppl. Going to see it again tonight when there's more people. SO hopefuly the genereal public will appreciate this film.
