Re: "This Is It" not on DVD until Feb. 2010

I 100% percent agree; the two week run time will boost bootleg copies I would assume so not releasing the proper version soon is just asking for less sales...

Every movie is bootleged, for sure. BUT because the dvd will be packed with extras most people will probably pay for the original. Also someone said Kenny said that we would have TII in time for xmas.

Re: DVD This Is It until February 2010

TV Guide channel has been saying the DVD should be out in time for Xmas, so I'm not buying the "Feb '10" comment

Yeah but think of it this way, after two weeks the film goes off public release, people want to watch/rewatch and can't go to a first/second showing of it, cant get a DVD, so get a pirated version + the people who do that anyway = ++++ Illegal versions. It just makes sense to release this before Xmas to keep up with the hype and promotion campaign for the cinema release...

Re: Predict DVD release

Well I just watched A documentary on This Is It and one news reporter says it will be ready for the December holiday season.

Re: Predict DVD release

November/December. I read alot about how this is meant to be the quickest release from cinema to DVD...
Pretty sure it will be out by x-mas.

Re: Predict DVD release

Releasing it in november to bank on the usual boost in sales there is at christmas is the only thing that makes sense, but then again when as sony ever made sense?
So I doubt they'll get it right this time....

Re: Predict DVD release

if it won't be released in Christmas why would they show This Is It in the cinemas for only two weeks?

Re: Predict DVD release

I'll be very surpised if we get it in 2009.

Re: Predict DVD release

I predict the 21st December.

Re: Predict DVD release

wouldnt surprise me if it wasnt released for 10 years or more...

look at all the other concerts we want, never to see the light of day...

Re: Predict DVD release

I voted for January or February 2010, but i like it will be released for Xmas, it would be a great gift.

Re: Predict DVD release

I sooo hope for a 2009 release - BUT I start to get worried we wont see this till 2010. :(

Re: Predict DVD release

I still think it will be released just a few weeks after the films stops showing in cinemas. They would be stupid to miss out on a Christmas release.

'This Is It' DVD Not Being Released Until February. 24-10-'09

Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” opens worldwide in theaters on October 28th. But according to Roger Friedman, you won’t be seeing in on DVD until February 2010.

That’s because the movie studios have a deal with DVD companies. There has to be a 90-day window after the movie has played in theaters before it’s available in stores.

“This Is It” is set to play for two weeks, from October 28th through November 13th. Sony won’t admit it, but if it does well, the documentary could get a one or two week extension in theaters.

Either way, count 90 days from the end of its theater run before you can buy it as a DVD. That means no Michael Jackson Christmas. The earliest it would turn up is February 13, 2010.

That nugget of info should create even more demand for tickets to the theater run. Even this reporter assumed “This Is It” would be the stocking stuffer of all time. But sources inside say no, and that’s it. Fans will have to rely on the collector’s item soundtrack CD featuring the songs from the movie in their original recorded versions.

Re: Predict DVD release

RF is banned :rogerfriedman:

I thought he was allowed again because he suddenly 'changed' after Michael died and a lot of what he was saying turned out to be true.

Although in this case I dont believe it. Why would Kenny and people be saying itd be out a few weeks after the film? They cant have been mistaken, they would be wella ware of a 90 day policy.

Re: Predict DVD release

Hoping it is released in Nov/Dec. I think it would be stupid not to release it before Christmas. That would be the smart thing to do, more sales.

Re: Predict DVD release

i think by xmas.. with it beign a 2 week limited time i dont see how they would be resitricted to the 90 thing.. but then again you never know.
