Marebear, No, you are not naive--you simply want her to do the right thing. Good post.

Re: Oprah Show on Michael jackson's new album 'Michael'

Has this episode aired yet and where can i see it ?

Re: Oprah Show on Michael jackson's new album 'Michael'

Oprah chooses to show empathy, simpathy, whatever you wanna call it when SHE FEELS like doing so. It has nothing to do with interviewing techniques.

Re: Oprah Show on Michael jackson's new album 'Michael'

Yes. The key words are When She Wants To.

Thanks. I keep hoping she will come around even though I feel she won't.

I don't know is it true  but a certain person (read RF ) wrote that Cascio family will appear on "Oprah" on December 6th.

oh dear gawd....:bugeyed

I am told that the whole Cascio family appears on “Oprah” on December 6th to showcase Eddie Cascio’s tracks from Michael Jackson‘s new album.

Eddie is joined by his parents, Dominic and Connie, as well as brother Frank and sister Nicole.

The family talks with Oprah about their long relationship as Michael’s surrogate family, and the evolution of the music Michael made at their house in New Jersey in 2007.

Originally, the family didn’t want to go to the show, but Sony Music thought it best just to put the whole story out in the open. “Michael” the album is released on December 14th. The single, “Hold My Hand,” is already on the radio and on ITunes, featuring Akon.

Eddie Cascio has three tracks on the new “Michael” album–”Breaking News,” “Monster,” and “Keep Your Head Up.” There are nine more in the vault.

Also on the show is Michael’s long time producer Teddy Riley, who worked on the tracks and vouches for their veracity.

Re: Oprah Show on Michael jackson's new album 'Michael'

^ I guess we now know why the Jacksons (read 3T but mostly Taj) have been off twitter for the past week.

Let it all out...

The truth shall set you free...

Re: Oprah Show on Michael jackson's new album 'Michael'

Yep they will be on Oprah alright! Should be an interesting show. HMH video debuting, Teddy Riley and the Cascios. GREAT press for the album though. I can't imagine they will dedicate the whole show to MJ, probably half and half. Regardless, 30 minutes of promotion on Oprah can go a long way.

Re: Oprah Show on Michael jackson's new album 'Michael'

This is gonna be REALLY interesting.....

Oprah is going to use a controversy of this album and all this talk show will be around this subject. She is not going to promote this album. There is no hope for Sony from Oprah. lol Oprah is not on Sony payroll.
I alredy see fans bashing Oprah after this show even more than before :)

I disagree.

I predict all will be positive - wonderful Sony, wonderful estate, wonderful Branca, except for the 'greedy', jealous Jacksons. She will gain a 'better' understanding of him. He was a genius & had horrible parents.

Oprah has many incentives to help Sony promote the album as she has a long & profitable relationship with $$$$$$ony, at least back to 2000.

Patent troll sues Oprah, Sony over online book viewing

'We own the touchy, feely internet'

Free whitepaper – The Register Guide to Enterprise Virtualization

An IP-squatting firm is suing Oprah Winfrey's production company and Sony Electronics over patent infringement for using and promoting software that displays books on the internet.

Illinois Computer Research claims Oprah's Bookclub violates its US Patent 7,11,252 - a method of "Enhancing touch and feel on the internet."

The lawsuit summarizes the patent as "an apparatus and method for obtaining and reviewing excerpts from a digital book for preview prior to purchase, but prevents the reader from obtaining and reviewing the entire book prior to purchase."

That covers, well, just about anyone selling or discussing books online.

ICR claims Oprah's Book Club website uses, sells, and encourages others to use an online book-reading product. While the lawsuit doesn't specify where the site allegedly infringes on the IP, the book club does offer short excerpts online and pitches Amazon's Kindle as "Oprah's favorite new gadget."

(Note: the book excerpts featured on the website doesn't appear to be a fancy, advanced mechanism for reading a preview. They're just basic HTML).

The lawsuit also fingers Sony as a defendant, claiming the electronics giant violates the '252 patent through its Sony Bookreader.

ICR is a holding company that obtained the patent from the "inventor" Scott Harris — a former top-billing IP lawyer for who The Prior Art blog has diligently chronicled a long and sordid past of suing companies over questionable IP. Harris was ousted from the law firm Fish & Richardson for targeting Google, a client of the firm, over the '252 patent.

ICR is currently owned by Florida lawyer James Beauregard Parker. The firm seeks an undisclosed amount of damages.

A copy of the lawsuit is available here. ®

Oprah's Favorite Things Hits Big This Holiday Season
by Shelly Lowery

Oprah Winfrey is one of the most popular talk show hosts in American television history. As her show enters its 21rst season, she has millions of viewers who tune in each day. One of her most popular segments is her "Favorite Things" holiday show. During this show, Oprah shares with the studio and television audience some of her favorite things including jewelry, gadgets and vacation getaways.
People love this show because on the "Favorite Things" episode, audience members get the extravagant gifts that Oprah displays. Around 300 audience members are showered with gifts each holiday episode. The amount varies, but Oprah audience members can each expect to receive between $4,000 and $15,000 worth of gifts. But, Oprah is a big winner as well. The 2004 episode of "Oprah's Favorite Things" had the highest ratings ever for a "Favorite Things" episode and was the second highest rated episode for the season.

Oprah has been doing her "Favorite Things" episode since 1999. Guests received a set of Illumination Ritual Candles, each one to inspire different feelings like love, peace and passion and each candle contained a tiny gemstone inside. The 12-candle set was valued at $169.95. Dog owners were no doubt thrilled with the Fifi and Romeo Pet Clothing ($150 and up) - one of Oprah's favorite things of 1999. One of the most extravagant gifts that year was a Susan Abbott Personalized Painting, ranging from $5,000 and up. Oprah loved the Susan Abbott painting given to her by author Sarah Ban Breathnach.

In 2000, Oprah added many hi-tech gadgets like the Motorola Talkabout pager (priced at $179), so audience members could receive email while on the go. Another favorite thing from 2000 was the book equivalent of the iPod, the Gemstar REB1100 eBook from RCA ($299). The Gemstar let users download up to 8,000 book pages, so they never had to carry around a book again.

The BlissLabs Glamour Gloves ($44) and Gel ($22) was one of Oprah's favorite things in 2002. The Panasonic 4-in-1 Digital Camera from Frontgate ($449) was also a big hit that year. The camera, the size of a credit card, takes pictures and video, but can also be used as a MP3 player and audio recorder.

In 2003, Oprah decided to do two episodes of her favorite things segment - one in the Spring and one in the Fall. Spring audience members got an Apple iPod ($399), Silhouette Minimal X Sunglasses ($175-$250), and a Hewlett Packard Digital Camera, Printer and Dock (total value $730) among other items. Fall audience members racked up with UGG Classic Short Boots ($110), a Philip Stein Teslar Watch ($595), and a Sony DCR-DVD200 Handycam ($1000).

2004 was a very special Favorite Things segment for Oprah. She convinced 300 teachers to attend her show, under the premise of talking about education and a teacher's daily routine. Instead, she surprised them with the Favorite Things episode. The teachers received gifts such as a Sony VAIO S260 notebook computer, a Dell 30" wide-screen LCD television, a Maytag Neptune Top-Load Washer and Drying Center, and a trip for two to the exclusive Miraval Resort and Spa. Total gift amount for each teacher was about $15,000 - much more than the previous year total of $4,800. Oprah, a supporter of education and teachers, knew the teachers were worth every penny.

In 2005, Oprah decided to make her favorite things audience up of Katrina relief workers. Among the gifts were Sony VAIO® FJ Notebook, Kashwére® Shawl Collar Robe, BlackBerry 7105T™ from T-Mobile, and a couple of Oprah's favorites from 2004, UGG Australia's Uptown Boot and an Apple iPod. While considerably less than the year before, the 2005 recipients still received over $7,000 worth of items.

Probably due in part to Oprah's television audience as well as her personal appeal, each year the manufacturer's of the items found on Oprah's favorite things donate all the gifts. But they reap great benefits from doing so. They get television exposure and an immediate increase in sales after each episode. Companies like Sephora and Macy's have both publically stated that as soon as Oprah mentions one of their products, people are coming in the stores in droves to get it.

So in the end, it is a win-win situation. The manufacturers see increased sales, the audience gets great gifts, and Oprah just keeps on getting more and more popular with her viewing audience.

Re: Oprah Show on Michael jackson's new album 'Michael'

I don't know is it true  but a certain person (read RF ) wrote that Cascio family will appear on "Oprah" on December 6th.

If this is true im gonna need a bat for the tv that day

Re: Oprah Show on Michael jackson's new album 'Michael'

I have many issues with Oprah...but the Jacksons had it coming.

Michael is no longer here to fix their mess....They will learn Greed & Jealousy will never take them anywhere.

It is high time for the truth to come out.

Re: Oprah Show on Michael jackson's new album 'Michael'

some promotion for the album has to be done and Oprah's show is watched by a lot of people, even if us the fans don't like her...for her and Sony Michael is just a business...in this moment is ok:they stick with the business and us with the love:)

This is nothing new. This has been known for years. I was just watching her latest "Favorite Things" show today which I had DVR'd on Monday. It will be her last one ever. In fact, she did two back-to-back Favorite Things shows for two different audiences. The first one aired on Friday and the audience was made of up people who gave of themselves selflessly and who deserved nice things. Boy, did those lucky people get some nice things (except those ugly silver and gold Ugg boots, lol).

Re: Oprah Show on Michael jackson's new album 'Michael'

I just hope that the Cascios will set the record straight. Something that the Jacksons promised to do on Oprah's show but failed.

Her favorite things is not new. But they are launching shows together - Dr. Oz, Nate Berkus - for example. She is launching a new network. My bet is there are more partnerships in the works too.;D

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 1, 2010

CHICAGO, IL, CULVER CITY, CA and NEW YORK, NY — The Nate Berkus Show , hosted by the popular design expert and New York Times bestselling author who appears regularly on The Oprah Winfrey Show , will debut in firstrun syndication in the Fall on the 10 NBC Local Media television stations with a series co-produced by Harpo Productions and Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and distributed by SPT. The announcement was made jointly today by Sheri Salata and Erik Logan, presidents, Harpo Productions; John Weiser, president, US Distribution, Sony Pictures Television; and John Wallace, president, NBC Local Media.

The Nate Berkus Show (working title) is a daily syndicated multi-topic and multisegment series that will present a broad range of subjects and guests based on lifestyle, entertainment and personal transformation.

"We are pleased to partner with NBC stations to launch The Nate Berkus Show ," said Erik Logan, president, Harpo Productions. "Combined with Harpo's legacy of success in daytime, and our strong partnership with Sony, NBC's commitment and support offers the perfect platform to launch syndication's next breakout series."

"Partnering with the NBC stations on quality, branded programming like The Nate Berkus Show maximizes our potential to build a successful franchise," said John Weiser, president, US Distribution, Sony Pictures Television. "Similar to stations who invested in The Dr. Oz Show last year and are now seeing audience growth, access to blue chip advertisers and revenue growth, we're confident NBC will enjoy a tremendous return on their investment."

"We're excited to add a great talent like Nate Berkus to our programming lineup," said John Wallace, president, NBC Local Media. "We believe the show, with its broad appeal and themes of lifestyle and inspiration, will be a strong fit for the NBC Local brand and resonate with our audience. We look forward to working with our partners at Harpo, with their proven track record of success in daytime programming, and Sony, to help make the show a success in each of our 10 markets."

The Nate Berkus Show is the second series partnership between Harpo Productions and Sony Pictures Television. Their first, The Dr. Oz Show , launched in September 2009 as the highest-rated first-run syndication premiere in the last seven years.

Nate Berkus began his career with Leslie Hindman Auctioneers and also interned with Dominique Aurientis in Paris, France. At the age of 24, he formed his own company, Nate Berkus Associates, where he took on projects for Wolfgang Puck's Spago, Barney's New York, W hotels, as well as a prestigious list of private homes and clients. In 2001, after making over a small space for The Oprah Winfrey Show , Berkus became a featured design expert for the show and continued to garner national press attention. Berkus is the author of the New York Times best-selling book, Home Rules: Transform the Place You Live into a Place You'll Love , (Hyperion). Additionally, he has his own home line available through Home Shopping Network (HSN).

Re: Oprah Show on Michael jackson's new album 'Michael'

Nobody has to explain anything to Oprah. What's done is done. Really, I personally, could care less of what she and other hostile people (when it comes to Jackson) think anymore. Even past friends. Or so-called friends. He said to Katherine that he only trusted her, which speaks volumes. And which means he only could trust his children. The harm has been done, and thankfully, he is not here to be consumed by it. So I won't waste my energy anymore on such trivialities. There's an ongoing war to smear (continue to smear) his name and memory and only by a giant, fateful miracle will all this be over. And one day all will be over.

1000% agree!!!!!!!!!

Re: Oprah Show on Michael jackson's new album 'Michael'

I just knew she would be going after the controversy surrounding this album! The Cascios will certainly go after the Jacksons as it relates to them denying Michael's vocals on the track. I can already hear them proclaiming themselves as Michael's second family as he did'nt really wanna be around his own, we may even see unseen personal footage.

Should be interesting.....

Re: Oprah Show on Michael jackson's new album 'Michael'

... There are wars going on, children dying of hunger, people committing suicides, people destroying their lives and others in various ways. And all these people, with their disseminating confusion everywhere, making a brain wreck out of some is the ultimate example of an ample derision. I don't care how lunatic I may sound, or how 'elderly' and old-fashioned I may sound, but this is serious. Even when Michael was alive, especially when he was alive, with all his trials, with all the falsehoods from the tabloids, the Twitter mania that had just started shortly before June 25, to me, personally, it was a living hell, because my mind was consumed with all that, my heart was suffering, and I felt left like a legume, more concentrated and freaked on what tomorrow headline will be, what kind of sick rumors will there be, so I had to always think it through and get worked up and misfortunate because of some losers with the purpose of hurting souls: Michael's, his family's, ours. So that we don't focus on reality, on living our life and doing something to better it, as well as for the other, but just wonder about what is real or not.

So, I'm sick and tired, personally, of giving these unfortunate pricks, who think they're all that, my time and my pain. I've said it once and I'll say it again, with all the risks possible: there is a war going on right now: people after Michael's children that are after negative publicity towards the family, a family who has done questionable and even wrong things, so this will be used against them. People are thinking already "We can't trust the Jacksons, they've lied to us too often, they can't be trusted, they exploit the children" etc.. So that so-called 'second families', like Exotic Princess pointed out, could step in, i.e. the Cascios, Schafel, Lester, Fiddes, Klein, and take over. Meaning opportunists and leeches, for they're all lying about many things. It hurts to no end thinking these were people he trusted or wanted to trust. The children are strong and know what they want, they saw through Oprah, so I highly doubt they are going to remove them from Katherine Jackson's guardianship. But that is what is being sought: 'coming forward' and discrediting the family, having them deemed unfit, and they'll parade their 'perfect' relations with Michael, how they were his best friend and the rest of the cliche' lies. All the scandals with the fake songs off "Michael", all this is a derision, brainwashing.

I wonder if she is going to move away from the album talk and ask the Cascio boys "that question" she asks everyone else.
