Official: The Jackson UNITY TOUR

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

I am glad at least they have a full audience for the New York show. That should give them a clue--keep the concerts in well-known cities where they people remember who you are.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

Sound like they are rehearsing to "Can't Let Her Get Away"

I found an answer to my question from here:

Without Michael, Jacksons prepare to tour
BURBANK, Calif. (AP) — Guided by a thumping bass line from their backing band, the Jackson brothers strut forward to a row of four microphones, thrusting their pelvises along the way, before launching into "Can't Let Her Get Away," a song their superstar sibling released on his "Dangerous" album. If they had afros and matching powder blue suits, it might feel like 1977 again.
It doesn't. They're casually sporting sunglasses, workout gear and a few more pounds than when they, along with the future King of Pop, were simply known as the Jackson 5. (Also, "Can't Let Her Get Away" was released in 1991 after the group fizzled out.)
Nearly three years since Michael died while preparing for his comeback tour, four of his brothers — Marlon, Jermaine, Tito and Jackie — are set for their own return to the stage as The Jacksons. It hasn't been easy.
"The brothers don't know this, but I've broken down several times and cried during rehearsals," said Jermaine during a recent rehearsal break on a soundstage in Burbank, Calif. "I'm so used to Michael being on the right and then Marlon, Jackie, on and on. It's just something we never get used to."

The brothers are launching their "Unity" tour on Wednesday, five days ahead of the third anniversary of Michael's death from an overdose of the anesthetic propofol on June 25, 2009.
"For me, this cycle that comes around every year — this day, that day — that doesn't affect me because it affects me every day," said Marlon. "When that day comes around, it's the same. You learn to live with it. I still wake up sometimes and go, 'Jeez. I can't believe my brother's not here.'"
Following Michael's death, the four brothers appeared in the A&E reality series "The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty," which chronicled their loss and attempt to stage a comeback before their brother died.
Jermaine said the brothers have wanted to reunite on their own for years, but after Michael's passing, they needed time to heal — and the tour is another step in that process. They're rearranged their classics to suit their voices, and Jermaine said the group plans to pay tribute to Michael during their shows with a slideshow and medley that will conclude with the tune "Gone Too Soon."
"There's certain songs that make you feel the sorrow," said Tito. "Then again, there are other songs that bring so much joy and happiness, such as 'ABC' and 'I Want You Back' and the up-tempo stuff like 'This Place Hotel.' I just imagine how he used to walk and spin and do all these things. You can feel his presence here."
The Jacksons' tour kicks off at Rama Casino in Ontario, Canada, and is scheduled to end July 29 at the Snoqualmie Casino Amphitheater in Snoqualmie, Wash. Other stops include Detroit's Fox Theatre, Los Angeles' Greek Theatre and the Harlem's sold-out Apollo Theatre, where the Jackson 5 won an amateur night in 1969 before rocketing to fame.
Michael later forged unprecedented success as a solo artist. His superstardom was unrivaled, and his brothers couldn't capture similar acclaim or sales with their solo projects or last studio album, 1989's mostly Michael-less "2300 Jackson Street," but their legacy as a group has remained unchanged. The Jackson 5 were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
While various combinations of the brothers have reunited to perform over the years, including at last year's "Michael Forever" tribute concert in Wales, "Unity" will mark the first time the brothers have toured together since their final "Victory" outing in 1984. (Marlon said Randy, who officially joined The Jacksons in 1975, elected not to join the tour but noted that the youngest Jackson brother was welcome at any time.)
"We have a certain magic," said Jackie. "Once we get out here and run it down a couple times, it comes back to you. I'm not (moving) like I used to, but we still got it."
Will the fans think so — and will they turn out to see The Jacksons, whose ages now range from 55 to 61, perform their hits without Michael.
Last year, Cirque du Soleil launched "Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour" in Las Vegas. The show featuring dancers and acrobatic acts performing routines set to M.J. tunes has been among the top touring acts this year, and "Immortal" will return to Vegas for a residency at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.
However, Gary Bongiovanni, editor-in-chief of concert industry trade publication Pollstar, doesn't believe The Jacksons will achieve similar success with their smaller endeavor.
"The Jacksons were really all about Michael," said Bongiovanni. "The Cirque du Soleil show was successful because it was Cirque du Soleil and Michael's music. I don't know if that portends much for the remaining brothers and their ability to generate enthusiasm for ticket sales."
The brothers are undaunted, hoping to release an album of new music then go back out on tour.
"It's like riding a bike," said Marlon. "You never forget, but you do need to tweak a few things."

They kind of confirmed at least two Michael's songs that they are going to sing.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

Nice to see Jermaine doing his own songs.

Also, out of all of all of Michael's songs, why Can't Let Her Get Away of all choices. Also, I loved that little hopping thing they were doing at the beginning of that video a few posts ago.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

Man, they are funky. wish i could go...

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

Review from Lipstick Alley:
They made their first stop in Toronto (Rama, ON) at Casino Rama tonight.

Awesome. Loved it.

I was in the pit. I would have been right at the stage, but I made room for this lil special needs girl. Her mama made her wave her arm the entire show. Talkin bout, "Wave for Michael. So he can see you...". Um, Michael's dead, eh? Lol

Then these two ugly fat b*tches were trying to shove past me. Riding my ass like seabiscuit. I wanted to smash their faces, but then I would have been escorted out...

Show was amazing. Marlon is a dancing machine. Jermaine had a set in the middle that derailed it. "Dynomite" and "Let's Get Serious". They could have done more songs from the group instead of Michael's songs.

Wanna Be Starting Somethin, Rock With You, Don't Stop Til You Get Enough... I don't think MJ would have let them do his songs if he was alive.

I touched Tito and Jermaine's hand... This dude pushes the special kid out the way to touch his hand too. Shameless!

The slideshow? Terrible. Like, I've seen 1000 videos on youtube that looked better. The pictures didn't cue on time either.

The band was amazing. They got the best. The lead guitarist that was gonna play with MJ in London was there.

I got pictures on my phone that I will upload later...
Anyways, I'm sure they will do better after a few dates...
Anyone planning to see it?

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

Did anyone see the concert? I am going the 30th when it hits New Jersey,I don't know anything about it other than the set list.
Does anyone know if there are videos of the concert amateur or anything on YouTube? Also does anyone know if camera's are allowed? I have a big camera I plan to bring to the concert. When I saw my first concert, the MJ immortal tour,we werent allowed to bring cameras at all,so I had to sneak mine in. Hopefully for my second concert I won't have to sneak it in :p

Jacksons kick off tour with a few bumps

RAMA, ONT. - Not touring for nearly three decades is bound to lead to some cobwebs.

But aside from a few technical difficulties and the occasional pitch problem, The Jacksons 2012 Unity Tour - their first since 1984’s Victory Tour - launched at Casino Rama on Wednesday night with better than expected results and without the lightning in the bottle that was Michael Jackson.

After a false start opening with a soundless video montage of The Jackson 5 as it used to be with little bro Michael (who was a major presence through the night via stills and video and an actual tribute segment) - the four remaining Jackson brothers kicked off their 95-minute show with Can You Feel It.

Backed by nine musicians - Jackie, 61, Tito, 58, Jermaine, 57, and Marlon, 55 - were otherwise front and centre, busting some familiar dance moves through early songs Blame It On The Boogie and Rock With You before sitting on stools and chatting to each other in a more slowed down second quarter.

“How you feeling?” said Marlon, who shared lead vocals with Jackie and Jermaine (the strongest voice of the bunch) and Tito, the latter who also played guitar.

Judging from the crowd who quickly gathered at the front of the stage, the audience of 4,500 (just shy of a sell-out), was feeling good.

Marlon explained how he got the far-flung brothers back together, saying Tito was into building cars at the time.

“Marlon, I was building my third son when you called me - get it right,” interrupted Tito with a smile.

The tribute to Michael came in the otherwise uptempo third quarter full of old Motown classics I Want You Back, ABC and Never Can Say Goodbye, as Jermaine took over lead vocals on Gone Too Soon while stills of Michael were shown on a video screen above the drummer and the segment ended with a raised silver sequined glove raised in the air.

“I miss you so much Michael,” one of the brothers later during I’ll Be There which sparked the first crowd singalong.

Then Jermaine was briefly given the solo spotlight for a trio of songs, Dynamite, Let’s Get Serious - which saw him pick up a bass - and Do What You Do before the brothers returned with the final uptempo segment and couple of Michael Jackson classics, Wanna Be Starting Something and Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough, which really got the audience up and dancing.

The final song of the night was a Jacksons chestnut, Shake Your Body, and by that time pretty much everyone in the building was obeying that command.

Marlon turned out to the group’s live wire with Tito commenting: “My brother the dancing machine. Just wind him up.”

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

I don't know why but it bothers me that they are doing Michael's songs. I know many people cover his songs but for some reason his brothers doing it hurts my heart.
Ivy, but Jermaine says he dressed military style in the 80's. I also remember reading where he said wearing the arm band was a Jackson thing not just Michael. I say  to both comments!

Jermaine is full of shit. I find it so hard to tolerate his delusional mind and huge ego. Why he always make himself a clown! Yes jermaine we know joe Jackson is the mj estate and you create Michael and you saved Michael's life and your 'heroic' escape plan on Michael verdict day and your fake charities to 'honor' Michael and Michael invited you to join him on this is it plus planning to tour with you after this is it ... Blah...

Jermaine's such a wannabe.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

It bothers you because it is clear has day that Jermaine is trying to be Michael. From dressing like him to singing his songs he really thinks he is Michael. Guess what your not, Jackie, Marlon and Tito are acting like Jackie, Marlon and Tito. Jermaine on the other hand really believes this is his time to be Michael. Boy is he in for a rude awaking

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

I'm pretty sure mj got his idea of wearing the military jackets off jermaine. Or was it latoya, i forget now.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

"The Jacksons rehearse and talk about the tour without Michael"

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

I wish they had been doing these kinds of shows all along. Just feels like they are cashing in to me.
Sorry but that is how I feel.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

If they come to The Netherlands, I'll be there. I know a person who would come along with me for sure...my mom..:D. Too many legendary artists from my lifetime are slipping away. If I get the change to see them live, I will take it.

About the militairy jacket. Did Michael invent it? A lot of artists dressed that way in the eighties.
