Official: The Jackson UNITY TOUR

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

Yesterday on Dancing With the Stars, they paid tribute to Motown and when they got around to mentioning Jackosn 5, they just showed a shot of just MJ.

Say what you want about the brothers, but the deserve more respect than they're getting when to comes to their great J5 history.

In my opinion, the brothers downfall was when they wasted all of those years waiting for Michael to join them on stage again. I think all of that wasted time costed them to lose their "IDENTITY" in a way. They should have just proceeded, on any level, without Michael and maybe, just maybe, they would be in a better position today.

You know what they say about respect.

Maybe the brothers do deserve more respect but considering they have shown so little respect toward Michael I have little to no sympathy for them whatsoever in this regard. Karma is a witch sometimes.

Same as on the audition tape for berry gordy back in '69, it was just mj, the bros could barely be seen in the background. Harsh, but that's just showbiz. They were damn lucky to have mj to propel them into the bigtime, but they don't seem to see it like that.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

Hmmm, they are using Michael's MSG concert to promote their tour?

MJ's MSG concert, a two-hour special in honor of Michael Jackson's thirtieth year as a solo entertainer (his first solo single, "Got to Be There", was recorded in 1971).

Odd.

False. They are using the Jacksons set of Michael's anniversary concert. Obviously that was the last and most recent concert the Jacksons did. So it does make sense to use that footage. Or do you suggest they should use Motown footage from 30 or 40 years ago? And well, Michael was a part of that group. Michael was the center of that group. And they share their history together. So it would be foolish to not use that angle.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

I think they should use a piece of the old footage and then show more of something new thereby linking their past history to new songs they are performing now. The older fans would see the old footage, become nostalgic, and buy tickets to see the new and older songs they will be performing. Also, newer fans would connect to the current songs they are working on.

It makes sense for them to show a little of Michael, because they have to remind their audience that the Jacksons was a group of brothers even though one of them is no longer here, and their fans liked the music of the group as a unit. Although I do not like the brothers exploiting Michael, I think in this respect using some footage of the group with Michael makes sense. They were a group with Michael and there is no getting away from that.

I wish they did something more interesting though, to reintroduce this long last band. They should have done a commercial with a big Bang to it. Something like the Lightman that would have been part of TII. Now put that in a commercial and I would be buying several tickets to see what it is all about.

Didn't they do some sort of concert in Japan recently?
I wasn't suggesting anything on my previous post but now I am, what is wrong making brand new promo?
I have tons of ideas what they could have done to re-invent themselves as The Jacksons in 2012, not that hard.
I stand by what I said earlier:
Now would have been an ample opportunity for them to show that they can make it on their own and do their own thing.

As for Michael being center of the group, and being foolish for not using that angle.
I would love to hear what people say if Gun's and Roses goes on tour and uses Axl to promote their new tour, or Paul McCartney uses John Lennon to promote new The Beatles tour, N'Sync without Justin T etc..........

The SUN has an article out today but I dont know if Jackie actually said these things to the paper or if the SUN made it up...

"His siblings are reuniting to go on the road for the first time in more than 20 years and want to be joined by Jacko’s image.

The Beat It singer’s brother Jackie, 60, was inspired after seeing a hologram of rapper Tupac Shakur — shot dead in Las Vegas aged 25 in 1996 — at a festival in California with hip-hop headliners Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre this month.

He said: “It could have been Michael — absolutely. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?

"As a matter of fact, we had that idea two years ago for Michael’s Cirque du Soleil show.”

The same CGI technology may be used to bring Michael — who died of a massive drug overdose in 2009 aged 50 — back to the stage.

The Tupac image was crafted by a Hollywood special effects house and cost over £100,000.

And a source close to the Jacksons said: “As always with Michael’s estate and creating new art with his image, there will be a lot of politics to navigate. But we’ve all seen how well it can be done now.

“It could be the most lucrative world tour of all time.”

That sun article sounds as though they took Jackie words out of context to make it seem bizzare. Notice the Michael died of a massive drug overdose comment that was purposely stuck in. They never learn not to talk to these sleezy print jobs, but I guess any advertising is good to them.

I didn't click the link to Sun (dirty filthy tabloid) as I didn't want to give them any hits.
What you posted, seems to be the copy of the interview Jackie gave to E online, except Sun put their own stamp on it by adding "died of a massive drug overdose in 2009 aged 50 ". Otherwise it seems to be the same as E online interview.

^ Says a (slightly over-optimistic) source close to the jacksons.

Edit - clicked on the link to see who wrote article and it's the same guy who jermaine gave his exclusive post murray trial interview to last year, and the same guy who 'broke' that 20yr old story of jermaine and whitney, so i'm thinking that over-enthusiastic quote is from our overly modest jerms.

Jacksons to Record New Album Following Summer Tour
http://www.eurweb.com/2012/04/jacksons-to-record-new-album-following-summer-tour/

jacksons.jpg

*After the Jacksons wrap their Unity Tour this summer, the siblings are planning a return to the studio to record their first studio album since 1989′s “2300 Jackson Street,” eldest brother Jackie tells Billboard.com.

“That’s what we gotta do — right after the tour, we’re gonna go back into the studio and start recording some new music. I can’t wait,” says Jackson, adding that he has stayed active in the studio over the past two decades, preparing songs for his daughter.

Musically, the project would include “a little bit of today, and also a return to our sound. We’re gonna keep it simple… We can’t shy away from our sound,” said Jackson.

In the meantime, Jackson and his brothers Jermaine, Marlon and Tito will tour the U.S. beginning June 18 in Louisville. Jackson says that the brothers’ individual projects prevented a live trek from happening sooner, but it was something that was always on their minds.
“For many many years, we’ve been saying that we wanted to tour and go out, and sometimes things just don’t happen the way you want them to,” says Jackson. “All of our fans around the world wanted us to tour as well. So we decided to come together and just do it for the fans because they want to see it.”

Rehearsals for the tour kick off on May 1, and Jackson promises a full band and some snappy choreography. “It’s a challenge, because I can’t move like I used to move a long time ago,” says the 60-year-old Jackson, “but it’s time to do it.”

Of course, the absence of Michael Jackson, the superstar member of the Jacksons who died in 2009, will be fresh in Jackson fans’ minds as the Unity tour gets underway. Jackie Jackson says that the upcoming shows will honor their brother’s legacy, with performances of his solo songs being part of a segment of the show that will serve as a tribute to Michael.

“I just wish my brother was here with us so we could do it with him,” says Jackson, “but there is gonna be some planning to dedicate some songs to Michael in the show, and I’m sure his spirit will be in the house when we’re out there performing on the stage.”

Without jokes, yes yes I swear I thought it was sold out. They gonna makes these concerts in small venues? It must be almost sold out.If not, I understand why the " MJ hologram would be so great with us...."

DANG SON! Jackie Jackson is 60 years old!

I realize we all get older, but SEEING the "60" in print, threw me for a loop.

How old are the other brothers?

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

Marlon is 55, Jermaine is 57 (will be 58 in December), Tito is 58 (will be 59 in October) and Jackie turns 61 on May 4 (he and Katherine share their birthdays).

Thanks Lynn88.

It appears that a "few" of Katherine's boys are knocking on 60's door.

Just makes me shake my head at the fact that they wasted so many years waiting for Michael and now that they are 60 or closing in on 60, they decide to do something they "should" have done years ago.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

^^^ I agree, they should have pushed ahead sooner. It saddens me that it took Michael's death for this new found interest in all things Jackson, however, I wish them every success in their ventures.

I guess they are not going through with the hologram idea anymore...

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

Actually the Jackson Brothers never stated they were using a hologram in this tour in the first place, so why even go there. I see no such statement from them exept a confusing tabloid expose. Can anyone quote where Jacksons stated they will us a hologram? Its possible I missed that but I have read all the tablod reports and didnt even see such a statement there in their twisted mess .

With all the fairness, you are right. Jackie never stated that they would use hologram in this tour.
This is what he said:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rumors have swirled in recent weeks about the possible use of holographic imagery to depict Michael, a la Tupac Shakur's hologram at this year's Coachella Music Festival. But it is not to be for this year's tour.

In the same E! Online interview, Jackie Jackson was supportive of the idea, suggesting that such a project might be part of the group's scheduled 2013 tour in support of their upcoming album: "It could have Michael — absolutely. Wouldn't that be wonderful? As a matter of fact, we had that idea two years ago for Michael's Cirque du Soleil show."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But then again, he is not denying that they would not use MJ's hologram in their 2013 tour for supporting their upcoming album.
That is where I see problem. They should, not now nor never ever use MJ to support their albums, tour or what ever their are doing.
Michael has done enough for them to last lifetime, they need to let Michael rest.
Michael is not kind of puppet (dead or alive) that you put in the box when you don't need him, and take out when he is needed.

Well last weekend me & my mother, my borther went to get the tickets the show it's going to be on June 30th. I wonder who's going to do Michael's part I mean it won't be the same without him.

Can't say that i'm surprised by this. Like I had said earlier, if the Commodores can do their thing without Lionel, I didn't see why the Jacksons couldn't.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

I'm still wondering what the "official" reason for Randy not participating is (busy, not interested, etc). We already know why Michael isn't there but have any articles or interviews asked the brothers why Randy isn't joining them? He was part or the Jacksons so I'm surprised that they aren't being asked why their other surviving brother isn't signed on for this reunion as well.
