Official Charts Thread For ''Michael''

It amazes me that the album "Michael" is still doing as well as it is despite no promotion, fan boycott, etc. It just goes to show that Michael sells just as well or better than most artists, even with their tours, interviews and wall-to-wall SELF-promotion.

Exactly.

And the estate & Sony are in a weird place with the trial starting in about a month...It's hard & icky promoting a CD when there is a trial for the artist's killing.

Same with MJ the Experience...it's coming out April 15th...right in the middle of trial.

Tough balancing act: Justice for MJ & promoting his legacy

Very true, DESPITE, all the sabotaging that went on with this album, it's amazing that it's still able to maintain sales. It's indeed a very awkward situation all and all.

In it's 9th week of release MICHAEL sold 31,000 copies globally in countries that officially publish music sales. That was good enough for #23 on the global charts.

This is great news! I just don't know why they are waiting so long to release the next single.

Its great to see that all over the world, MJ is still at the top. I hope the second singles off Michael are out soon, I don't think its even charting within the top 100 anymore here and after the first week or so all promotion over here was stopped or so it seems.

1 million copies of VISION sold in US alone?? - That is great!

I'm glad to hear the Vision is doing well. It shows the demand for Michael's back catalogue is still very strong. I hope Sony takes notes and realizes that it's worthwhile to spend the efforts in improving the video quality of Michael's short films and concerts. Hopefully, we'll see Blu-ray releases soon.

So how many weeks has "Michael" spent in the UK top 75 album chart?

I'll be intrigued to see if HT can get the album back in the charts.

No effect, game over, this "album" is dead and burried, now sony must release the bad tour in dvd, it's better than a fake album

Agreed.
The song peaked at #35 in the UK airplay chart based on the album version Radio2 were playing BEFORE Sony unveiled the music video and the single 'remix'.
That peak airplay had virtually zero effect on sales of the album and song. Now that Sony are releasing the single officially I see no reason to think Radio2 will add the new mix to their playlist and I doubt other stations will start playing it in heavy rotation.

This single is too little too late.
Sony should have released the single, video etc back at the beginning of February.

It's good but could be even better. Sony didn't recertify all Mj's albums, so the position is not accurate IMO as some other albums need recertifying.
I think if the others were certified MJ would be maybe No.8.
HOWEVER I guess some the other artists in the top10 are also under certified so if all the figures were bang up-to-date who knows where MJ would be. For now though No.10 is ok. With MJ's releases over the next few years and with some good promotion we should see him climb to No.7 easily.

AFAIK, MJJC is a member of a group with a connection to MJ Estate (as for official statements, projects...), so... some guys could ask them a question/demand (or they could ask Sony) about re-certifying all MJ albums..., right?

reminder - this is a charts thread. It's not a thread about vocal authenticity, or estate executors
