Is there any real updated list of all the countries charting the album?
Russia or China, what number the album debuted at?

The last paragraph is like a paradox. Sales of a collection of rerererereleased songs (This is it album) beats down a brand new MJ album!!! Unbelievable! They should have released another collection instead of "Michael" then - LOL!
But then again it ain't no paradox. After how Sony screwd this release (especially with the 3 fakes but also with promotion), those figures are actually miraculously big.
This is the WORST MJ sales ever, AND STILL it seems decent to good, compared to other artists. In other words, if Sony released a blank disc with the name "Michael Jackson" on the cover, it would still get in the Top 5 worldwide. That's how powerful MJ is

^ Omg only 400 copies away from being #1 in Canada. Such a shame! I guess we will have to settle at #2. 25,000 is decent. It should make platinum here (80,000).
Great news about Germany and Austria though!

what does it mean "shipped platinum"? there's a mention of Russia in that press release, I take it we did good here after all?? yay!
just checked the biggest Russian internet store www.Ozon.ru (it's like our local Amazon) and Michael is the bestseller there as well! The album is the bestseller among all music (both Russian and foreign!)

I am so happy, he's doing so good in my country
Yes in RUSSIA the album is officially #1!
The chart will be available tomorrow.
I got this news from a russian guy at ukmix
I think it depends on the country. In some countries (including Germany) the album is #1, has reached gold status and is the fastest selling MJ album since the last 20 years. In the UK it's doing okay but not as good as other countries.

'Michael' Jackson Album Sells 3 Million Globally in First Week
A year and a half after his tragic death, Michael Jackson proves he's immortal. The King of Pop lived up to his name this week when his posthumous album 'Michael' became the No.1 album globally. In the U.S. the album sold 228,000 albums, and came in third on the Billboard 200, behind Taylor Swift's 'Speak Now' and Susan Boyle's 'The Gift.'
Sony says the album has gone gold and platinum in the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Belgium, Czech Republic, Canada, Korea and the Middle East in its first week. Platinum certification varies in countries.
While an artist in the U.S. must sell one million copies of the album to hit platinum, an album in Poland goes platinum after selling 30,000 copies; 50,000 in Russia; 60,000 in Italy and so on.
Featuring guest spots from 50 Cent, Akon and Lenny Kravitz, the 10-track album has done well even though it was shunned by many of Michael's former collaborators. Quincy Jones, who produced many of Jackson's albums like 'Bad,' 'Thriller,' and 'Off the Wall,' said he believed Jackson would not have approved the album's released if he were still live. Will.i.am and Ne-Yo also renounced the decision of Sony and Jackson's estate to release the album.
The 2010 holiday shopping season has been raining Michael Jackson with new releases from the passed on pop star being hurled at consumers across various platforms. Ubisoft released the dance video game 'Michael Jackson: The Experience,' while Sony amassed an encyclopedia of Jackson's music videos for the 3-disc DVD 'Michael Jackson's Vision.'

Michael Jackson's posthumous album has been named the top selling global album of 2010.
The LP, called Michael, debuted at number one on the global chart after three million units were shipped to 31 territories.
The CD, which topped the charts in four countries on the week of its release, has been certified Platinum in 14 countries, including the US, UK, Germany, France and Italy for shipments of over 300,000 copies.
The album opened in the UK at number four with sales of 113,000 - Jackson's biggest opening sales week since the release of Dangerous nearly 20 years ago.
Jackson's Thriller album remains the best selling album of all time, with over 100 million copies sold worldwide.

Question:
How many albums sold to be a platinum status in the USA?
1,000,000
1 million albums must be sold for platinum status
Answer:
A Gold album is a music album that has sold a minimum number of copies (in the United States, currently 500,000 sales). Originally applied to LP records, this RIAA certification is now most commonly awarded for compact disc sales.
A larger number of sales qualifies for the award of a "Platinum Album" (in the U.S., currently 1,000,000 sold), or "Diamond album" (in the U.S., currently 10,000,000 sold). Similar awards are less commonly quoted for individual recordings (singles), videos, and increasingly for DVDs.
For example: In the UK the number of sales needed for Gold and Platinum status are 300,000 and 600,000
