Official Charts Thread For ''Michael''

He sold 3 million copies worldwide is that right? People actually think that is bad or something? It sounds good to me. I always felt the whole picture should be looked at worldwide not one place.

I have to say as a Canadian I can't believe only 400 copies away from #1. I feel so bad. I did end up buying 3 copies but still so close.

How well has vision done? I heard the game has done well.

The video game is doing really well,It's sold a million copies in just 4 weeks,That is amazing for a 3rd party personality driven game,It took the beatles almost one year to sell a million copies of the Beatles rockband Wii and other personality driven games like aerosmith, van halen, metallica, green day games have yet too sell a million despite some of them being released up to 2 years ago.Ubisoft must be very happy.

I hope UBISOFT will release a press statement before the year runs out to celebrate the success of MJ experience. At least that would be a proof of MJ's posthumous success and would counter the naysayers.

Source?

How stupid can one be???

Unbelievable!!!

Can you imagine
The guy was just printing figures on top of his head
I felt like slapping him through the computer
No matter how much hatred the media directs at MJ,he would always top their favourites.

That article is wrong and they need to get the facts straight on something. Michael didn't die on an accidental overdose of prescription medication. His death was ruled a homicide and it had to do with propofol.

The fact that he was not #1 in the US just gives the press something to bash Michael with. That's all the do and ignore the rest.

That article is from Reuters and they've always lied on MJ and published trash. They know good and well he didn't die of an accidental overdose. He was a homicide victim.

MICHAEL JACKSON'S
MICHAEL IS THE #1 SELLING GLOBAL ALBUM
The Legendary Icon Continues His Worldwide Success
Shipping Platinum or Gold in 31 territories

New York - The King of Pop showed once again that his music knows no borders as the Sony Music/Epic Records release MICHAEL - thefirst album in nine years of new Michael Jackson tracks -- debuted globally at #1 in its first week of sales and shipped over 3 million units worldwide making it one of the biggest albums of 2010.

Hailed by TIME as "a carefully assembled recreation of his finest moments as a solo artist and a reminder of why we cared about him to begin with," MICHAEL clearly has been embraced not only by his most passionate fans in virtually every corner of the world, but a new generation discovering his recent artistry, collaborations and poignant gems featured on MICHAEL. Wrote Neil McCormick, chief rock music critic for the London Daily Telegraph: "It has the extraordinary confidence of a pop classic and presages an album that may well be Jackson's best work since his Eighties glory days."

Today's worldwide results underscore Michael Jackson's prophetic vision in seeing the world as one territory and his fans part of a single community, which helped endear him to countless fans and make him the global icon and superstar he remains today. Some of the sales figures from across the world show the following:
MICHAELshipped Platinum in 14 territories including the United States, UK, Germany, France (2x), Italy (3x), Spain, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Belgium, Czech Republic (4x), Canada, Korea and the Middle East.
The album debuted at #1 in Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Sweden.
And on top of the # 1 album chart entry in Germany, sales of MICHAELbroke the country's 2010's first-week record with over 85,000 units sold.
Opening week sales of more than 113,000 in the U.K. scored the biggest opening week for a new Michael Jackson studio album since 'Dangerous' nearly 20 years ago.
In Japan, the album is the fourth Michael Jackson album to ever debut in the top 3, joining Bad, Thriller and last year's "This Is It" companion album.
The album is in the top five in Belgium (#2), US (#3), Japan (#3), the UK (#4), France (#4), Denmark (#4). In the US, the album shipped platinum and debuted at #3 of the Billboard Album chart with just under 230,000 copies sold.
The album went Gold in 17 territories on arrival in Japan, China, Australia, Ireland, Austria, Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, New Zealand, India, Philippines and Taiwan.

The album marks another release under the new agreement between the Estate of Michael Jackson and Sony Music announced in March that continues the label's 35-year relationship with Michael and his music. Duringthat time, Michael sold hundreds of millions of records, had 13 #1 singlesand released the pop culture phenomenon "Thriller," which remains music's all-time bestselling album with more than 100 million copies sold worldwide.

The 4th week '' America'' figures have not been added but insiders have told me he sold 100,000 plus copies. When it's added it ,he would have sold a million plus copies worldwide
America's chart would be released 8am est tommorow
Hopefully Ubisoft would release a press release this week

Am more than estatic that the game is succesful, especially in US and it's selling more copies in US than europe.Even tiger woods games was not as succesful .

Many thanks. Are his sales considered good? Is the game available in Japan? If that is the case, surely, he has already exceeded 1Million worldwide.

They need to put out another single that is fast and fun from the album to get people's attention. I have not been happy how Hold My Hand was treated.

Yes,his sales are considered good, comments left by active gamers on the wall also show that the performance is good, The threshold for 3rd parties game to be considered sucessful is selling 1 million copies.Ubisoft was projecting a million copies sold in it's lifetime, they were not expecting the game to sell a million within a month

Here is the projection by one of ubisofts executive

Ubi: Michael Jackson will sell 1m+

Speaking in an exclusive interview with MCV, UK MD Rob Cooper says the firm was approached by Michael Jackson himself – long before his death – to create a game based on his iconic dance movies.

“We feel that this title will definitely be a million-seller,” he said. “We hope that it will be one of the bigger titles for this Christmas season. It’s a unique game in its genre, allowing fans to step into the shoes of Michael Jackson.

Eventhough ubisoft executives felt the game was going to be a million seller, industry experts were saying it was not going to sell a million, the fact it sold a million in 4 weeks makes me extremely happy.I love when people have eggs on their faceS when they bullshit MJ.

No it's not been released in Japan ,really ,I dont know why, probably because ubisoft games dont do well in Japan.Personally,I feel it would be sucessful in japan because of Michael's huge fanbase.

I am glad the game has done so well and better than people thought. What about vision dvd?

I dont have any idea about vision DVD sales,
I hope the sales are good as well.

Perhaps, you are too young to remember when "THRILLER" was
released. "Thriller" did not debut #1 or #2 on any known music chart.
Instead, with each single release sales steadily grew, until it
became the biggest selling album of all time

"Michael" will be well received worldwide; because at this time
there is simply no better music.
All hail the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.:agree:

Really? Thriller wasnt #1 when it came out? I wish I was there when it came out... And I think you're right, with other singles being released! He'll definitely sell MORE! and MORE and MORE! I think ppl. in 25-30 years are gonna say, "*Michael* Wasnt #1 when it came out? How can that be? It has amazing songs in there..." That might be a wishful thinking but I'm sure that will happen...:D

Thankyou :D

I have been seeing the video of Hold My Hand a lot this week. On the music channel I have. It got "choice cut" today which is a good thing. I just saw a few minutes ago while on here. I love when those things happen.
