Official Charts Thread For ''Michael''

It didn't seem right 'Take That' being #1 on the album chart and Michael #3 as I popped into Tesco at 1AM for some nachos (yes, bad I know) so I swapped them around in store haha

Thats more like it

I think it's not reasonable to count that yet, because he hasn't entered at all in many countries.
you are right,i still wait to see the album in my country...so for now the only way is the online purchase...ans sony didn't release no number for the preorder...

Taylor Swift First week sales = 1 million copies ( only in the US )
Susan Boyle First week sales = 375 000 copies ( only in the US )
Michael Jackson First week sales = 225 000 copies ( only in the US )

Conclusion Michael Jackson ( MICHAEL ) = BIG FAIL !!

You really should calm down.. Mike is gone. He is not here to promote like Boyle and Swift.

The failure of the album has nothing to do with him not promoting or not being there anymore
He wasnt there last year either and sold more than 30 million of albums after he died
He is not here either to promote Vision but the sales are beyong expectations 950 000 copies

There are at least 50% of his own fans who havent bought the album this is one of THE MAIN problem

But keep convincing yourself that the album is a success when anybody who know about the music industry would tell you the contrary
If that make you feel better then be free

Honestly why worry about sales these days. MJ is gone. Its not the same as before

Now i just want the material he was working on to get released, but im not expecting DEMOS to set records

How about comparing figures with all the artists that sold less on first week! But no of course not then you wouldnt be able to write big fail. By only using figures that suit your argument you are doing the same thing the media has always done to persecute MJ. Shame

Thats because he had just passed away. Hate all you want but there is only one album left and after that, MJ will never appear as a new release ever again.

The next album is actually gonna be worse. Blue Ganster BEAT needs working on and Slave to the Rythym sounds like a 1992 techno beat. Do You Know Where Your Children Are.....I Love Mike, but i can picture non fans and media making comments such as.....MJ there at your house....What other tracks are left to complete a hot album.

The album "Michael" is the best of what was left. You chose not to support it and its a done deal

Maybe if you and other boycotters bought this amazing album it wouldn't be "BIG FAIL".. Don't blame it on Sony or the Cascios, it is your fault!

I don't get this mindset. Why would you want to make Michael look bad? If I didn't know any better I would think you gather your statistics for a Sun article. There's lots of positive news about the album as well. Try to enjoy the new music please, life it too short.

I would think that a true fan of a music artist they love, would only care about having the last bit of music their favorite artist recorded in hand. The day's of worrying about sales and calling radio stations should be over. MJ is no longer here.

It's just not the same. When MJ was alive, released a album it was cool to vote for the top nine at nine at your local radio station. It's different now.

Forget the sales and airplay, and just enjoy the music he has left to give you

I can hear happiness in your voice even through the internet.

^^Geez guys, I'm disappointed that Michael will arrive behind Susan Boyle and Taylor Swift, but lets not start blaming people for it for god's sake...

^ Babybemine: You might be right, but it's weird as Michael was always about doing it bigger and better while effortlessly slamming records. I sometimes feel we have to continue this for him, as he deserves that honour. On the other hand, Michael is probably just resting from 'all the hoopla' (as Dame Liz puts it) in heaven now, so this is only our obsession now. And indeed it hasn't got the same meaning without him. And at the end of the day it was the man and the music that counted, even if Michael would have never had a mentioning in the Guiness Book of World Records or never a #1 song or album, I would still love him all the same. It's not the statistics that make him great, even though that might be the case for the general public.

Tell me something, do YOU think it's justified comparing a new release sales with his greatest hits' sales in the months when the whole world was in deep shock over loosing the biggest star in the world?

You've got a point about Vision though. Although he didn't have his last say on that one either, so ...

IMHO it's a combination of the Cascio mess and Sony's idiotic approach to the promoting of Michael that made sure Michael wouldn't debut on nr. 1 in the UK and the USA.

I thought it would have made better in the first week, but to call it a flop? Only to Michael's previous standards, but we can not compare to those anymore without having Michael here. And we most certainly can't compare to 2009 aftermath, because if you do, I suppose even Thriller might be called a flop!

Can someone block that serena...? Why is a MJ hater allowed to spread her propaganda on this board?

get the Raid out....time for a cleanup

That's great! :) Do you know how much it would take (more or less) to have a #1 album in Germany? I'm curious about how much he's sold so far :)

It's not only that MICHAEL will be Number 1 on Friday, here in Germany.
MICHAEL is also the best first week seller of the year, overtaking an huge local act.
And it has already gold status, with over 100.000 copies sold.
Thats huge, compared to 125.000 copies sold in the uk!

Furthermore 'Hold My Hand' makes a big jump from 18 to 7 in the german Top 100 single chart.

I don't see much promotion here either, so whats the problem in the uk & france?

I'm sorry, I don't know. But it must be VERY much because there's a german band called Unheilig (= unholy) and their album was number one since June and now, within two weeks, their album got surpressed by Michael.

Also good News from AUSTRIA:

Michael is #1
Hold my hand from #40 to #9! (first top 10 since yrmw '01, 18th Top 10 in Austria)

the first number one album since BAD!
i always thought the last 20 years. god, that cant be he never reached the number one, when i see there so much shit out there and they will easily go to numer one.
i mean dangerous, history, blood, invincible. all of them was number 2.

and the vision is now at #2, after 3 weeks at #1
