NEW SONG - Akon feat. Michael Jackson "Hold my hand" [updates in post #1]

Alright now after watching that interview posted above I think I understand whats going on. (Btw that interview seems new and should be bigger news then it is because it reveals alot)

1. It seems that Michael will release Hold My Hand on his new album and Akon's new album will also have Hold My Hand on it. Maybe the leak in the summer was to see who's fans reacted more favorably towards the new song and that would predict who actually will release it.

2. Akon said "im launching my record this year REGARDLESS"... I take this to mean that maybe Akon was waiting for MJ to release his record at the same time to get maximum exposure thus explaining the constant delays. But now Akon is realizing that Michael will not be releasing anything this year and has decided that he will go on without him and release his record anyway.

3. By what Akon said in that interview it now appears as if he isn't as sure as before as to if his songs will make the album. I remember at the beginning Akon said he was gunna be producing MJ's new album and was so confident he was going to be on the album. Now we hear talk of Michael having to protect his legacy and stuff and that "just because your working on it doesn't mean it will make the cut" ...AKon seems to be less sure about his stuff making the cut.

4. Finally he talks about Michael "getting ready" to launch his own situation. He also indicates that Michael has his own record deal which he can take anytime. He didnt say that outright but strongly indicated that.

I really liked that interview because Akon publically acknowledged Hold My Hand and gave a lot of info about his own future as well as Michael's. I do think however fans need to understand that this record WILL appear on both Akon's and Michael's new studio albums. This was confirmed by the actual songwriter in early July, and songwriters know that stuff since its their song. Now Akon has echoed that thought, I dont see what more people need to hear. This song will be on both albums and there has to be a plan for it.
 
So will this song be Akon's first single or not? Can someone type the intervew or post it on youtube because it won't play for me. This situation is so confusing.. but what's new....
 
It's still confusing because he doesn't mention it being the first song from HIS album. Forget Michael's, IMHO, if it was just Michael's, you'd think Akon would give Michael the verses and he only comes in during the chorus.
 
"Hold My Hand" will NOT be on MJ's album ;)

It will be on Akon's album "Acquitted" and it will be the 1st single by Akon - promo CDs were already pressed some months ago

Well, we know things change from day to day in MJ's world. If that was months ago, who knows what's going on now. :lol: And since the last video seems fairly recent, Imma guess that takes precedence over whatever the plans were months ago. Seems like things have changed, even by Akon's calendar as far as when his own album was supposed to be out.

If he says it's going to be on MJ's album, then I can't imagine who your source could be to top someone actually ON the song. :cheeky:

Then again, months from now, even what we know today could be different....so....let's just wait and see. In the meantime...yay! :D

Thanks for the video, InvicibleTal. :flowers: And Travis, I think your summary is pretty much how it looks to me as well. But again, who knows how this will play out when things start rolling. We'll see.

Unless it turns in to a proper duet, I don't see this song being on Michael's album.
 
still no updates on the vid??

Somethin' must be going on that is delaying everything.. People don't just delay stuff just cuz.. There has to be a reason, why Akons album though was completed for a Summer release still does not have a first single released..

Aww, well, you're loyal. :)

If you want me to be honest with you, I'd rather have no new music; I'm fine with what I got. But now that he is making new music, I think I'm in a position to critique, just like other fans said they loved it. I don't find the song single-worthy compared to other Michael Jackson songs. This has nothing to do with Michael, it's the song. This is the first people are going to hear Michael in years and for Akon's voice to be blabbering in the background bothers me, to say it gracefully.

I understand though, you all haven't heard an MJ song in a while and want a video... understandable.

akon said in an interview wth lady gaga 2 weeks ago that his album is NOT finished but he said he WILL be releasing it in October and has NOT chosen an exact date yet

Meanwhile, the single can be labelled as MJ single and still be released soon, even if his album is a LONG way off. He doesnt NEED an album to release a single at all, and the single can still be included in the album when it comes out...

Ne-yo released his song "Closer" wayyy back in April and planned his album for a June release, which didnt happen coz his album is STILL not out... so there ya go;)

With that ^^ as evidence MJ can release a single and still not release the corresponding album for 6months, as Ne-yo has done... (Ne-yo is now obviously onto his second single)
 
If we're waiting for MJ to release something we may be waiting forever. That's why I'm counting on Akon. :lol:

but can you be sure that if the songwriter 'knows that stuff', that the record company would not intervene at the last minute? does that songwriter control the ENTIRE situation? i rarely hear of songwriters controlling the entire situation.
 
Well, I'm glad to hear that Akon is gonna release his this year no matter what. That means that we will finally get to hear the song rotating on the radio.

I never said the songwriter controls the situation because that would be a lie. I did say however that if Akon and Michael decided they wanted to put HMH on both of their albums they have the legal responsibility to let the songwriter know for royalty agreements, etc. Obviously the pair agreed to put the song on both albums thus they told the songwriter. That was in early July. Now over 7 weeks later Akon just confirmed what we heard from the songwriter....that HMH will appear on both Mike's and his own album. What we learned now is that HMH will be the lead off single for MJ's new album which COULD mean that it will not be a single from Akon's album. I'm just basing this all off that recent interview with Akon. That was my impression of what he said, he was very upfront.
 
I will be extremely surprised if "Hold My Hand" is on MJ's new album. I can't see this album coming out anywhere in the next 12 months either. At the very earliest I think it may come out at the end of 2009. That's just my opinion.

Yeah i agree with you on the release date. I honestly think MJ's new album will drop in October/November 2009 with the first single being released late August or early September. Then maybe we could get a tour in 2010?? Anyways, relating to HMH, I think Akon should just release it on his album as the debut single. It makes no sense to have it on both albums ESPECIALLY if Akon album comes out November 2008 and Michael's comes out a year later...that would be pointless because everybody will have already heard HMH on Akon's album. I honestly have no clue whats going on with this song. I am just trying to make some sense based on what Akon said in that interview.

Bottom line- The best solution in my opinion is to release the song as the debut global single for Akon's Acquitted album, release it in October this year and forget about putting it on Michael's album.
 
i think the most frustrating thing a person can do, is guess a release date for something, and lock that into their mind. cus if you're disappointed that something didn't happen when you predicted it, you might have a tendency to blame someone else, when it was only You who predicted that date.
 
Why don't we all just sit tight because truth be told, none of us have ANY clue when it will come out. Only Michael really knows or has an idea of when. Guessing won't make it so and that's all some of us are doing, guessing.
 
Most everybody says the album (MJ's) will come in 2009 while Akon may still put his out in October (but he has no first single out so it's doubtful right now). I don't know how anybody keeps thinking Akon and Michael will have this song on the same album. It's IMPOSSIBLE at this point, I thought you'd knew that.

People here are just nervous. They WANT the song now so anything they hear they're willing to accept ("well the songwriter said so and so did Akon..."). Well the one person who ain't confirmed this is Michael Jackson so... LOL!
