NEW SONG - Akon feat. Michael Jackson "Hold my hand" [updates in post #1]

Sooo anyone see/hear Akon on MTVnews the other day saying something about the song and how it's going to be on MJ's new album as well? He also talked about the other people he knew were working with Michael? I was waiting for some footage or someone else to mention it but....*crickets*

With all the people talking about MJS album, i tend to beleive Akon it seems that he has been spending the most time with mike.

When i hear Neyo, it seems that mikes record is miles away, but when you hear Akon
speak he makes it sound that mikes getting ready real soon.

Its so bloody annoying
 
Found out today, it is NOT illegal to play a leak. Radio Australia wide can play ANYTHING it wants without ANY permission. Nova FM are purely playing the track that a fan has sent them, or that a staff member downloaded on their own computer.

yeap its only illegal so to speak if the label goes to court and gets an injuction against the radio station/company that owns it.but that rarely happens as its promo for the track/artist and most times leaks come directly from the label its self

Well, Wendy, I guess you were the only one who saw the MTVnews footage.

This is what bothers me....the last time I checked, Akon has no announcement for his new album on his official website. And if the two men will have the song on their albums, then I would think that we would see Michael's album coming near the same vicinity as Akons. Certainly if Akon's album is coming in October, we should see Michael's this year as well, right?
 
The only way I could see this song being on Michael's album is if it's made in to a proper duet, which at the moment it's not. But obviously the version we have isn't finaized, so that could change.
 
I HIGHLY doubt Michael would put a song on his album that will be on another persons album.. Considering that it would effect sales negitivally. and it's the album that many are calling his 'COMEBACK ALBUM'..

Just does not make any sence..

Plus why would he put a song on his album that he's not even the MAIN vocalist.. He's a featuring artist..

Maybe in a year or something, if he releases a special edition version with more tracks, and that being one of the extra tracks.. Other than that.. don't count on it

Maybe Mike will re-record the song with just his vocals then put that version on his new album?

Also, the songwriter said it'd be on Akon's and MJ's. So assuming the songwrite isn't 100% clueless, I don't see why not.
 
I totally agree with KOPV. It wouldn't make any sense.

Like I've said before, can you imagine buying MJ's CD, flipping it over and looking at the track list to find Akon feat. Michael Jackson - "Hold My Hand"? lol, i surely can't.

The song writer didn't even know that Akon was testing his song with Michael. He thought it was being given to Whitney Houston. So I wouldn't put too much on what he says.

And that song that Akon gave Whitney is not good at all.

Michael had songs like The Girl Is Mine, I Just Cant Stop Loving You, Just Good Friends, Scream... theyre all 50/50 songs. Could have easily fitted on both artists albums. Say Say Say is even included on most King Of Pop editions... so including Hold My Hand on Michael's album is something I see nothing wrong with. Especially considering he would get equal credit for chart position (which will be HIGH because this song is major hit material! Whether certain individuals here agree or disagree is irrelivent)..

If this song went to #1 it would mean Michael Jackson had sung on chart topping songs spanning a period of 39 years apart. That would be incredible! And it would get people off his back with the old one liner "When was the last time Michael Jackson had a hit record?"

Also, i dont expect to know an album release date for Michael Jackson until near on a month before it comes out. On Invincible, they kept announcing dates, which had delays, and it was a mess. I think this will be set in stone with a marketing campaign ready to launch before we hear a peep.

Thats my opinion on things.

It would not be a smart marketing tactic to put it on 2 albums.. lol!!

The ONLY way Mike would ever use it as one of his songs, if a year or so from the release of his own album on a special edition version with bonus tracks.. And/or As a B side song to a single he releases..

But not an official track on his album..


Also think of the way Mike thinks.. He's one that always tried to have as many tracks on an album that he would be allowed.. Each album has one or 2 more tracks than the last.. Michael putting Hold My Hand on his album would also take up space from other songs that could be a number 1 hit on it's own..

Think of it this way.. Akon releases his album in October.. Hold My Hand goes to number ONE.. Then Mikes album comes out with his album in November and has that song on his album.. lol!! What is that going to do for him?? He cannot release it as a single because it wont go anywhere.. Akon sucked much of the success out of it.. So he has a track on his album that is fully pointless and has no potential of doing anything for his album..


The same reason why he did not add 'Say,Say, Say' to any of his officail albums, is the same reason why he would not put Hold my Hand..


If Mike plans to make a 18 tack album WITH Hold My Hand.. He'd better be off just cutting it to 17 tracks without it.. Hold My Hand will do better NOT on Michaels album then on it.. WHY?? Because AKON is using it and will suck it dry before Mike gets a chance to.. PLUS it gives MJ an excuse to have another song to add to a B side to a single, and/or special edition in the future.. He'll benifit more that way.

No. I don't think so. Didn't Akon say that they were still working on it? It's not a duet right now. It's a featurett. The songs damien mentioned, those are duets. I know, a foreign concept in todays industry, lol. But if they turned this song in to a duet, with them trading verses, then it could be on both albums. But I don't see Michael using this on his album for some reason.

You are soooooo right, Damien. I've been thinking the same thing. That fact that he has everybody scared to talk tells me that he doesn' want anything out there until he is ready to release this thing. That is why I say if we don't hear an announcement by the end of October, we aint gonna see no album this year. I'm thinking we will start to hear something by by the end of August....somewheres around his birthday and that he is shooting for an October release.
 
Michael was not even the person the writter had in mind for the song.. It was supposed to be Whitney.. Now all of a sudden peopel are saying Michael is going to put it on his album.. lol!! Obviously if the writter did not even know Michael was recording on it, he would not have discussed with Michael about putting it on MICHAELS album.. lol!!

Thats a bit silly to assume... Considering Akon said Mike had cut his vocal back in February and it leaked on the last day in June, that gives Michael, Akon and the writer FOUR months to discuss things. And now, we are another 6 weeks from the day it leaked. The writer gave the song to Akon because he was working with Whitney. Akon was just smart enough to know the song didnt suit Whitney as well as it suited Michael Jackson.
