NEW SONG - Akon feat. Michael Jackson "Hold my hand" [updates in post #1]

Well Alright. Good luck.

Do this and see what happens:

Call a local radio station that plays the hits and only the hits. Request a Michael Jackson song, and then see if it gets played. :)

Those stations play the current valid music from current artists that people want to listen to.

Now if there was a huge demand for MJ they'd play it sure thing.

but you'd have a much better chance to call a oldie music station and request something played from Thriller, or Bad and having it played. That is because them albums themselves are classics and people respect the music more.

And this isnt my opinion. It's the way it seems because most likely its the way it is.

Do you know that in most places in the USA or even in the UK, if you go out in public and say that you're a huge mj fan, you'll most likely be made a joke of? that's how bad it is.
It's easy for you to think this way while he's still working on his album. Now, what do you think you will be saying when everything turns out fine?

You're going to be celebrating right with the rest of us. Everybody is. The celebration is going to be that widespread.

Where u live at, Blank? :)

i think that i could mention two places:

Reality, and The USA :)
good luck.

BTW, i am a huge MJ fan, just the only one in a huge radius it seems. I've accepted that though.

It's not a thing about me thinking in any way. it's just how it seems.
I want him to be on top again. and i hope he is.

I have always promoted mj, andwas made fun of for it, but whatever right? :)

They're not going to be making fun of you too much longer. They're going to be too busy trying to join in on the fun with you.

:)

Oh... mm I was gonna say something all drawn-out and huge, but nevermind

Gosh, maybe they just need to release the dang song... hear the positivity emerging from holdin hands... so they can be grown a$$ men singin' "hooooooooold myyyy haaaaand" :hysterical: That be great...

Michael's popular, people just don't know that they like him. Like almost anything in life, they have to expreience him before they can appreciate him. When those same individuals who talk all kinds of trash about him are suddenly faced with him face to face or see him dance or hear him sing, all of their prejudice fades away and they find themselves, like all of us here, simply enthralled.

Yea.. true. :ermm:
...eff them, lmfao. :mat::lol:

and yes, they barely play MJ on the radio sometimes.. and when they do, omfg it's like an event for me, I'm like YAAY. :lmao::wild: It's rare they play him on the radio.. well at least where I live.

Mike has something that most recording artists do not have. It's really hard to explain it, but it plays a big part in what draws people to him. You can only understand what I'm talking about if you've had a chance to be near him and feel it for yourselves. He's had this ever since he was a kid. It's what is causing all of us to be here. It's what is causing people that claim they do not like him to be on boards talking about him daily. It's what is causing the media to follow him all over the world.

It's very potent and fortunately, MJ knows how to use it. Evan Chandler did not fully understand the strength of it or did not know that it existed when he decided to come up with his stupid plan. He ended up hurting a lot of people worldwide. Sneddon did not fully understand it either and ended up doing the exact same thing. He caused a lot of people a lot of pain. Only when they saw how the world reacted, were they able to tell they were in over their heads and had come up with a bad idea.

When Michael is entertaining, the multiple gifts that he have get to work at full capacity. When he is not, they don't, but they also do not leave either.

Right now, they are not being used. They're just going wherever he goes and waiting. When his multiple gifts are put to use along with the music that he makes and everything else that he likes to do to entertain, this world is going to be rumbling with excitement. There is no other entertainer that can do it like MJ.

He's going to be fine, because he is one of a kind. He's gifted.

When you meet those other recording artists you go, "Hey! That's so and so!" When you meet Michael Jackson you go "Hey. What's that feeling?" in addition to being excited about seeing him. It's like another word besides aura needs to be used because it's really indescribable.

Even Akon felt it.

believe me, blank, i certainly understand what you are saying, and those that agree with you..and know what you are talking about when it comes to radio stations....

i was one of the first to complain about how MJ was not played on the radio in the nineties, in the usa...but...let us listen to what we are saying..

in order for us to know that MJ isn't being played when he is being requested..we have to know that he was being requested, in order to know that radio was ignoring the requests...lol..you see? so...it's not that he is not popular..it's that some programmers just don't want to play his new music..at least..that's the way it was in the nineties....i know it's hard to believe..but those programmers hated him and his fans...and the fact that they could make money from playing him made no difference...

i called a radio station and they pretended that MJ didn't fit the demographic. this was right after you are not alone hit number 1. so...you see the skullduggery that was going on there? it's the same thing as troubleman was referring to. MJ was the centerpiece of the tabloids....and radio was like the tabloids....they couldn't resist MJ's music..but they wanted to tell jokes about him. so...your perception is easy for people to make into reality...that MJ is not liked by the populace....but it's just not true..

yeah...the unique circumstance about MJ is, if you say you are a fan, you might get ridiculed...but, if the ridiculer goes home and shuts himself in a closet..he's got MJ on the pod.

so...as far as the saying 'perception is reality' goes...that perception is worth re examining, because it isn't necessarily true.

it's sorta like some girl hating on another girl because of how she looks in a dress, but when the hater goes home, she buys the same dress. that was the Michael Jackson 'dilemma'.

so...i took on the multiquotes to defer to what AllFor MJ said, to help me explain what was really going on here...and why this subject of his popularity is so up for debate, like everything else MJ is always up for debate. such is the enigmatic mystery of MJ.

Maybe chicago just knows a real artist and real music when they see it, cuz i hear MJ allll the time. Friends (people who don't know I'm a fan), family, people bumping it in cars, on the radio, in clubs....

When i say i'm a MJ fan i don't get met with hostility. either they don't care or they're like "YEAH me too! Lemme see your collectioN!!!"

That's the honest truth...and that's MY reality...soooo speak for ur self and NOT "America" as a whole, ya dig?

I wouldn't say thats neccesarily true because just recently in the UK signature (MJ tribute act) were on britains got talent and I lost count of the amount of times suleman said he was a massive MJ fan, and look how much support they got from the public....that's just one example.

If you play MJ stuff in public no-one really cares, and at parties and clubs most people are up on the dancefloor if an MJ song is played.

Yeah, folks will make some lame p.edo or nose jokes, but no-one really cares THAT much enough to start terrorizing you for liking MJ, lol. but if you do make out like MJ is the be all and end all of your life (and I know some fans ARE like that), ofcourse, you are gonna get laughed at, but that's more to do with the fan than it is to do with MJ, but I think some of you like to exaggerate how much MJ is disliked.

I know this is just some kids messing about, but it's kind of relevant to your comment
Honk if you love Hannah Montana or Honk if you love Michael Jackson, obviously MJ got more honks, lol:

Eh, well it's true, people see Michael as a has-been. It's nothing to worry about, though. You tend to notice most of the haters are real young, a lot of them being teens. I can bet nearly half of them haven't heard a Michael Jackson song or even seen him perform. It's the whole bandwagon thing, but once he releases a hit song, people are gonna be kissing his ass. It's interesting to see, that's all I'm saying., lol.

Michael is a respected artist. It's just that his personal life has stolen the show for nearly close to ten years. But hey, if Mariah Carey can come back from Glitter, Michael Jackson can come back from any damn thing in this world.

 I doubt they do that.

Unless some teen boys do a video lip-syncing (badly) to it on YouTube.

I dont know what you guys are talking about saying people make fun of you for being an MJ fan! Not where I live thats for sure. In fact I live in a white, conservative, rural community in Canada...there is very little multiculturalism in this area and infact it is known as a "farmers town". At my local high school (roughly 2000 kids attend), Michael Jackson is not looked at as some idiot. Kids respect his music and about 95% of all people hold the opinion "Regardless of his personal life, he is still very talented". I have mentioned it many times before that many of the kids my age love Michael Jackson and infact brought him up in class many times! People would openly admit they listen to MJ, talk about his music, and about 50% (yes...half) of my entire grade consisting of nerds, jocks, preps, hicks, and gangsers ALL had some MJ on their i-pods. Of course there were always the immature idiots who jump at any chance to insult Michael BUT they were ALWAYS shut down by someone else.

The Michael Jackson trial was BIG and I mean BIG at our school. So big..that I actually had a turnout of over a 15 people at my Michael Jackson Verdict Party. This was during a school day! People actually skipped school and came! My point is...nobody would ever think about insulting my love for Michael Jackson. Infact, nobody has ever to my face made fun of me for liking Michael Jackson. They respect me alot, and many have approached me and said they look up to me as a person who actually can make their own decisions and not care about what others think. People always talk to me about MJ. Mostly they ask me about him, asking what my opinions are on certain aspects of Michael's life and so forth. They ask what he has been up to, where he is, and when the new music is coming. People are genuinely interested and I guarentee if Michael Jackson was to release a new album... most of my friends would openly listen to it without judging. Maybe its a Canadian trait to love and accept, but moreso to forgive. I could be wrong, but hey you never know.

In regards to the radio aspect, I again don't understand why people say MJ is never on the radio! Sure he isn't on as much as modern acts (the radio mainly focuses on new music as its used as an advertising medium for record companies) One of the biggest and most popular radio stations in Canada is Z103.5 in Toronto. They play all new pop, hip-hop, dance, and so on. When WBSS 08 came out in January...they played it 5-6 times per day! The song was voted by viewers as the champion on Head 2 Head 5 nights in a row which resulted in Mj being entered into the Z103 Hall Of Fame! To this date, Z103 continues to play Michael Jackson. For instance a couple days ago they were playing "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga which was then follwed by Wanna Be Startin Somethin by Michael Jackson! This was around the dinner hour in prime time! This isn't unusual at all. Michael Jackson is always playing on random radio stations, in malls, stores (ESPECIALLY LE CHATEAU), gyms, colleges, dances, clubs, and the list goes on!

Michael Jackson is very popular. I've said it before and I'll say it again...It all depends on your PERSPECTIVE on the world around you. Many people chose to live their life in a little square box; A box that the government and media essentially draw. Anything outside that box is considered weird or un-orthadox... I find people's opinion on MJ usually depends on how big of box they allow themselves to live in. The smaller the box...the more they shut out and refuse to acknowledge. The bigger the box...the more they open their mind and allow themselves to experience new things! Its that simple!

i agree with you. you see? i just got caught up in some of the naysaying talk on here(that should tell you something) when in my own personal experience...it's been 50/50..some people were negative, but more were positive about MJ. and and storefronts all over LOS ANGELES neighborhoods blast his music ALL THE TIME

All I know is they obviously know about the song being leaked, and they need to address it in some form. They need to either say that the song isn't ready yet, there are legal issues for one or the other, or it won't be the first single, or SOMETHING. There was so much hype when it was leaked, and then nothing. Even if it's not going to be out for a while, I think they need to tell people.

Yeah I don't know what's holding them up. It can't be a personal thing Michael's going through or anything personal Akon's going through. I'm sure it was pulled for a reason but all we're left is speculation and I'm saddened by this because most of you guys got "Hold My Hand" siggies. If this ends up not being released (w/o much explanation), what y'all gonna do?

Well they probably feel by not mentioning it.. LESS people will know that it's leaked..

Sometimes saying something will trigger millions that did not know it was leaked to go search for it.. ALSO many people that heard something about it, but not enough to really grab there interest.. Them saying something would create more attention and more interest in looking into it..

it would not be the first time. the MJ situation is unique in the music industry. there is so much debate because there are so many enigmatic things happening. sometimes it's easy to believe that radio is threatened or, rival record companies, because at this point, if an MJ song appears on the radio, it might upstage the rest of the industry. that's why it's so easy to get suspicious...and not blame MJ for any of my suspicious thoughts...of which there are others that agree with me. and that dreaded four letter word..conspiracy....

yes..i'm speculating..but MJ once used it..and his dad once used the word...and..strange things happen. sometimes i think dj's won't play a new MJ song, cus they don't want to...but other songs are played ad nauseum as if payola is involved...

who knows?

but ever since what more can i give..

it's just hard to keep a peaceful mind about the industry when it comes to MJ...

none of Mj's stuff gets released enough and played enough on radio...but fans react to MJ as if..well...hysterically..and sometimes i feel radio turns a blind eye on purpose....

it's hard not to entertain dark thoughts about the industry with this ish going on...

That's quite interesting... I don't know, I still think it's silly to take a leaked song out and not tell anybody (yet) why.

KOPV, I don't buy that logic. A good portion did know about it before it was leaked. Matter of fact they're still asking when it's going to be released. It even got the mention on Billboard. I think when the Billboard story came, that's when it was taken out of YouTube and other PSP sites.
