Seriously, how is Akon a wannabe?

And Akon really does not need his record sales boosting. Akon doesnt need Michael Jackson. I think Akon wants to make great music, thats all. He must have visions of collaborating with certain artists and work out if it will be good or not. I see Michael needing him a little bit more than Akon needs Mike. Tbh Akon is the King of collaborating atm.

Also record companies dont pair artists up, the artists obviously will choose who they want to work with.

I am not someone that usually sticks up for Akon.. But he's been around enough to NOT be considared 'flavor of the minute'.. He's been around for almost 5 years now.

Mean someone could enter highschool or college and exit with Akon being huge.. That is a full CHAPTER in someones life right there.. It's a generation that he's been around now..

Not that I'm a fan, I could probably count the songs I don't mind on one hand. (if that) lol! But he's only getting bigger..

He's working on his 4th album and his 3rd has not been released yet.. so!! don't think he's going anywhere.. Not just that, he's producing is expanding further and further..

He said that he has so much more stuff coming up, the beginning of this year he said that if we thought 2007 had a lot of Akon, we have just seen the tip of the iceburg..

His career will last a while.. Now if u ask me if I want it to, that may be a different answere..

Wow, it's been a rollercoaster day with the videos getting pulled, eh? :blink: I think we all kinda expected this would happen. Heck, I'm surprised it was up for as long as it was. I just knew by the time I got home last night it would be gone already. :lol: Anyhoo, the song is forever burned on the mp3 that is my brain, so HA! Come and take that down. :aggressive: I kid. I kid!

On a more serious note, I hope that MTV report is a bunch of hooey. They don't know if it's going to be a single or not?! :doh: I WONDER if Akon's contentious relationship with Universal (as last reported) has anything to do with this indecision by Universal. Seriously, that song needs to be out without further review. The problem is this, IF Akon's issues with Universal aren't resolved yet, it could cause all sorts of drama (think MJ v. Mottola). And who is the mysterious "THEY" Akon is refering to? DJ's? Wasn't it a website that got the song first? :scratch:I didn't realize it was illegal to play a "leaked" song on the radio since it's done all the time. :lol: I mean, you've GOT to be kidding me. ILLEGAL???? Coulda fooled me. It happens so often, I naturally thought this was how things are done these days....these "controlled leaks" for PR. Back in the day they were called "exclusives". It was all above board. Wth?! Practically ALL of T25 was leaked before it was released and most of the songs were never removed from youtube. I don't get it.

My question, to anyone who knows, is this? How come vibe.net still streams the song if it's an illegal leak? I'm confused. Do they have permission to continue streaming or????? :unsure:

This whole thing is confusing. I just hope it was a PR thing that was done to get a pre-release response and now that they've got it they've removed it....and everyone's pretending to be angry and acting like they don't know who let the cat out of the bag. :lol: Otherwise, cue below:

I believe there is a big possibility for Hold On: Akon featuring Michael Jackson to be nominated for Grammy Award - Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.

Love the song. Really love the song. So fresh, comforting and universal.

Well, according to the MTV report mello1 posted, a Rep has stated that they either don't know or don't have any plans to release it. I may have to go back and re-read that. Lots of posts in here today. In the meantime, don't panic! :agree: lol

Track might wind up on 'Kon's upcoming third album.

Akon wanted to be starting something with Michael Jackson — and apparently, that something involves holding hands.

A song that the two worked on for Akon's upcoming album has leaked to the Internet, and it's called "Hold My Hand." An earlier version of the track, without Jackson's contributing vocals, leaked in February, just as the pair's "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' 2008" was officially released as the first single for the re-release of Thriller.

A mid-tempo ballad featuring strings at its beginning, "Hold My Hand" layers the singers' vocals over a drum machine and a twinkling piano melody as the pair trade off lyrics like "We're better off being together than being miserable alone" and "Nothing can come between us if you just hold my hand." Jackson's softer, more lilting vocal lines start the duet, but Akon soon becomes dominant, thanks to his distinctive phrasing.

Akon's label rep said that the singer's as-yet-untitled third album, due later this year, has not been completed, so there's no word on whether "Hold My Hand" will make the cut, and as such, there hasn't been any plan to release the song as a single.

Akon previously told MTV News that working with MJ was a dream come true, calling the King of Pop "incredible" and a "genius."

"Just to be in the same room [with him], I felt everything I wanted to accomplish in life has been achieved," Akon said. "That aura ... that's how incredible that aura is. We about to shake the world up, man. You know how you be with somebody and you can't even explain [the feeling]? I used to sit and think, 'How does somebody sell so many records and dominate a whole business genre to a point [where] nobody can't be a part of that without associating with you?' The way he thinks ... some artists think regional, some think national, I was thinking international. He thinks planets. It's on another level."

His rep either is really slow or doesnt even know Akon if that comment for him/her is recent. Akon, himself said his 3rd album is finished, its called aquitted and Hold my Hand is the first single off the album.

^ yup!! They are lying... They are covering things up now to shut people up.. Akon has been done with his album, and all ready working on the album after it.. lol!

His next album to be released this year is called 'Acquitted'.. But he's all ready working on the album AFTER that called 'Double Jeopardy'..


He said it himself, and it is on youtube.. so whatever.. they just don't want people to look into in any further.

Thanks, Cheadle_Ender_90 for the video. :flowers: I remember seeing it, but I thought maybe something could have changed since he said that. There was some RUMORED brouhaha with his label earlier this month that made me think something could be running afoul. Hopefully, this is all PR madness running it's course before the big bang. :D

Wow, the watch men are all over You Tube now......well....I just hope this 'leak' does'nt derail the release of this song, 'cause damn it its HOTTTTTT!

An opportunity has presented itself, and I sincerely hope the powers that be take advantage of it and make this song the hit is meant to be!

Wow, I think that Sony is mad because they want to make all the money they can off of their legendary artist. What I would really like to see is who wrote this song. If Sony is mad, then I would not be surprised if Michael is actually one of the writers.

"Hold my Hand" is absolutely gorgeous! OMG, I could listen to it over and over (though I'd have preferred to hear more of Michael's divine voice, but I'm not complaining!) Hehehehe. Sighhhhhhhh. So beautiful! OMG! If this is a taste of what we can expect on Michael's new album (of his absolutely wonderful talent and indescribable voice) then I just CAN'T WAIT to hear his new album! Oh my!
Well done to Akon too! I know--I'm bad raving only about Michael's contribution, because this is supposed to be Akon's song, with Michael featured, isn't it? But I can't help being pulled to Michael's beautiful voice because it hits a chord in me--always--lighting me up inside. I've never paid any attention to Akon's music, but he really does have a very pleasant voice too.

Look what happened with "You Rock My World". That was leaked (probably intentionally by PR), but still ended up being released. Akon's gonna want to make the most of the track's potential, so I believe he'd leave it on the album, but he's gotta act quickly now.
