NEW SONG - Akon feat. Michael Jackson "Hold my hand" [updates in post #1]

I think Mike wanted it to go unheard until it dropped as the first single off Freedom. But it leaked and therefore Mike didnt want it as a single, or at least to be the first single off the album.

Cant wait for Freedom!

I think MJ got pissed that it was leaked and told them to scratch it. Sounds like something MJ would do to me :p

LMFAO, I think the only one who lost here is Akon. Get ready for "Sorry, Don't Blame It On Me (I Wanted It Released)"

lol.
I would think that Akon and his people would want it released. I mean, it's a great song and they managed to get like the biggest name in music for it... it would be dumb for them not to release it.
=/

Yes, and I still have some bit of hope for this song..
I'm not throwing it all away down the drain, yet. :)

Time will only tell, and we just have more of it coming. Take it easy y'all.

it can still be released and be a global smash, it's weird how some record companies plan their singles.

They might want to hold on to it so if comes out a touch before MJ's album therefore increasing the hype not only for MJ but for Akon.

A New Album of Akon features MJ!

Friday, October 10th 2008

A one of the top hitmakers in the music scene, Akon has come to Japan recently and held a listening session of a new album "Freedom".

The concept of this new album is the next stage of "Konvicted". He said, "When you become famous, sometimes you will get offended by the negative coverage, so I tried to express my positive feeling throughout my new album and allay misunderstanding".

Overall, you will get to hear his silky rap on crossover hiphop sounds with posotive atmosphere. Needless to say, a song featuring Michael Jackson, "Hold My Hands" will be the main attraction. His 1st album was sold over 3 million copies and the 2nd was sold over 4 million copies all over the world, chances of reaching 5 million copies with this album are very high.

"Acquited" out on 19th of November, 2008.

【 Scheduled Tracks 】
・ Against The Grain feat Ray Lavender
・ Holla Holla feat. T-Pain
・ We Don't Care
・ Righit Now
・ Be With You
・ Birth Mark
・ Everything You Do
・ Sunny Day
・ Freedom
・ Hold My Hands feat Michael Jackson
and more.

Thanks for the info. Very interesting though- they call it "Acquitted" and "Freedom" in the same article

This is the first real look at a tracklist- thanks again :cheeky:

Lets see the album comes out in six weeks or so, so if HMH is going to make it on the album it should certainly be within the next 2-3 weeks should it not?

The first 6 seconds from "Sunny Day" has the same piano melody as at the end of "Hold My Hand".

I really do wonder if the intention of releasing HMH as a single is still in the peipline. Hopefully so, and w/a video would be an absolute plus. It'd be a real shame if none of this came to fruition

Okay, after having all this time to listen to this song, here's what I think: It's just okay. Nothing great. Very sappy and doesn't make much sense to have two guys singing this. This should be more of a duet between a guy and girl. Typical Akon song, not much lasting power but it could be a hit for the short-term. If Michael wants to make a comeback, it has to be stronger than this. This song just seems too conservative.

Well, I don't think it's supposed to be Michael's comeback song, it's more for Akon. Michael's songs will be much stronger, I hope. :)
And I'm very excited to see the song shoot up the charts when it's released!
