MJ Forever Tribute/ MJJC Statement / Estate statement / Fan letter pg51/ GLE put on administration

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I wonder if We'll get it here...Oh well there is Youtube.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

So the major TV networks aren't interested in this show. Why? Because the majority of the acts aren't attractive to the global audience. Why? Because the organisation was at the last minute and the big acts were either busy or not interested. Another failure by GLE.
One good thing is that somebody somewhere will record this concert on TV and hopefully upload a good quality version to Youtube.

In case some here don't visit the 2300 Jackson street forum, Katherine gave an interview to the Daily Mail.
She mentions some thoughts she has on the tribute concert. I'm not sure if that part should be posted here or if you should just read it in that section.

I think that will.i.am is great, I love Black Eyed Peas too. Only thing that I don't like about Will is his decision not to release his work with MJ.

Also Jennifer Hudson is added to the lineup as well.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

There's one thing I don't understand (at least ONE? )? And that is, why hasn't the Estate jumped all OVER this? I can't see how it would be legal to use Michael's name/image in this way? And especially, the PR that this is the "one and only" tribute show, when clearly that isn't necessarily the case! There is already the Cirque show, which is a kind of tribute, and apparently incredibly well done. And, it's entirely possible that the Estate would want to organize a tribute in the future, that actually WOULD have big-name stars, and would be done right?

Is it that they are holding off because Katherine is elderly, or what? The Estate seems interested in fan opinions, and by now, they surely must know what a lot of fans think about this "tribute," and that fans would not protest if they were to GO AFTER IT, and prevent this kinda stuff from happening in the future? (or maybe they are waiting and watching as it implodes on its own? Dunno. . .)

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

^^ I think with all the broadcasting rights that are being sold that the estate must have been contacted and given their permission. I simply don't buy that the estate only have rights to mj in the usa. I noticed that vue cinemas (big uk chain) have the concert on their website, but only seem to be showing it in 3 random cinemas. I guess the estate is in an awquard situation as not only do they not want to go against MJ's own mother (I don't thinkthey would hold back against joe and latoya!), but she's also guardian to the 3 children who one day will be running the estate alongside the executors. This is what annoys me the most, the jacksons are poisoning an incredibly important and lucrative relationship that the children need to have with their father's estate trustees.

Actually that interview should be in the tribute thread as the promotion of the concert seems to be the only reason Mrs J granted an interview to that ghastly uk paper. Another indication that tickets sales are slack.

The mail mentioned something about the children introducing beyonce (even though it's a video) at the show, but the reporter was generally so clueless i'm not sure if that was accuate.

even if they take any legal action it wouldn't be quick. the best they can do is a cease and desist.

when you look to the howard mann lawsuit, it started with a cease and desist and then a lawsuit and still ongoing. so shutting down is not that easy or quick even there might be copyright/ trademark infringement happening.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Even if I were interested in seeing the BEP or Jennifer Hudson it is way too last minute to be making a trip like this. It just frosts me that they told us or rather lied to us in July that they had this "galaxy of stars" lined up when in fact they had nobody.

The intention of this concert is to make money. Michael is being used again.

Right. Although, I'm surprised a "cease-and-desist" hasn't happened already? That letter sent by Weitzman (sp?) was pretty forceful! If this follows the "Mann-pattern," they'll go after GLE, and not necessarily Katherine. By now, though, if they read the tweets and fan-boards at ALL, surely they know what a lot of fans think of Katherine et al's "activities?"

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

vue cinemas (major chain) in the Uk are showing the film via a live relay now aswell

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

^^ Do you mean the concert will be shown in cinemas?

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Exactly how much is really going to charity? I don't think it is as much as they would like us to believe.

Here is a link. Wiki says there are 69 Vue cinemas including one in Leicester square...wonder how many will show this.
(They are using the same picture of Michael as in the metro / Sunday Times ads)

I guess they'll have a trailer and advertising out beforehand...it just feels so completely wrong. I know the cirque run is starting soon, and also has advertising, but thats a commercial venture, and you don't expect commerce to stop for a trial...but you would expect the family to stop.

Oh sorry...this is a commercial venture too.

It's a bit hypocritical by Will.i.am. He was upset after Michael's death that they release new music from him. He declares it to a money-making thing. And now he takes part in a project which is only there with the reason to make money, and nothing for charity. Mabe he seems not to be informed about the background.

If GLE can announce another one or two acts of b.e.p's stature then they could save this concert. I'm tempted to buy a vue ticket too. I'm so surprised that will has agreed to this tho.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Its seeming probable the estate has made some sort of agreement with this. Oh well. I was never on any one of the sides. I'm on Michael's side.

Wow, just noticed the standard seats are £15 at Vue. That's quite pricey.

That is not true! Some money will go to charity.

Only the money that the ticket-buyer wants addtional to the ticket-costs give to charity. It comes only from the fans.

Has Jennifer Hudson been confirmed? I like her, so I hope she's not involved in this.

The Black Eyed Peas To Play Michael Jackson Tribute Concert

by Radar Staff

The Black Eyed Peas will play the star-studded tribute concert to Michael Jackson at Millennium Stadium in Wales, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Peas’ co-founder will.i.am -- who worked as a producer in the studio with Michael from 2007 until his death in 2009 – issued a statement Friday from Los Angeles, saying “This show is going to be an incredibly personal and moving evening for me.

Remember that Michael’s music, his great, great songs

, have been an inspiration to my whole life and certainly formed the soundtrack to my childhood.

“When I was a little kid of six or seven growing up in Los Angeles, there was Michael recording Thriller, and all his early hits, just a few miles away across town - obviously I didn’t know him at that time, but I loved him as a fan.

“Then one day about four years ago, with The Black Eyed Peas well established, I got a call from him I will never forget. I then had the great privilege of working with him and getting to know him and his beautiful family.

“That’s why The Black Eyed Peas wouldn’t miss being at the Millennium Stadium for this gig on October 8th: we all owe Michael such a lot.”

Several members of the Jackson family will attend the concert -- called Michael Forever -- although others will remain in Los Angeles for the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, who’s charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the singer’s death on June 25, 2009.

Michael’s brother Marlon Jackson issued a statement regarding the ‘Peas’ involvement, saying "We‘re all really delighted and touched that the Black Eyed Peas are able to come and take part “ he commented. “My brother rated Will.i.am and the original things he does in music
very highly. I guess you could say it was a case of mutual respect.”

Since Jackson’s death, The Black Eyed Peas have paid tribute to The King of Pop at every one of their shows.
Other artists scheduled to perform at the concert include Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Motown legends Gladys Knight and Smokey Robinson, as well Jamie Foxx to name just a few.

Beyonce will be beaming in a special contribution by video link.

The concert is intended to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Jackson's solo career.

:wtf:

A bomb to close Friday with a golden key  :puke: .... I wonder who else will join this mess.... :fear:

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I think at this point in time we should just say "who cares" and move our attention to the trial. Let it happen, who cares , we have a lot more important stuff to worry about IMO.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

well said. they can have fun in rainy cardiff we will be using the weekend to get sleep and recover from the weeks ordeals

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I agree...at this point who cares?

This "tribute" isn't in the headlines anymore...it's all about the trial.

I am grateful for the Cirque du Soleil next weekend...I am gonna need it. This trial will be hard as hell...
