MJ Forever Tribute/ MJJC Statement / Estate statement / Fan letter pg51/ GLE put on administration

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

It would have been better to talk about Vitiligo as the serious disorder it is then to just say to people! "look let's just forget about that and except him now cause he is dead." Then just passing it on as Mj did it to himself but, let's forgive the poor guy!

Wait....Wait a second.......the average black person?????.....what the hell does that mean?????

Have you averaged the opinions of all black people????? Can you honestly tell me you asked the opinions: North Americans, West Indians, South Americans, Africans, Europeans and Aborigines?????......

There are ignorant people who say Michael "sold out" or he "wanted to be white".....but I've heard that from different types of people.......they are just the few ignorant and uneducated........

Anyway.........

Well you can't blame us from hating the idea of this tribute.........almost everything we've heard about it has been rotten.......

The only saving grace is the extreme few good stars like Christina Aguilera and Smokey Robinson.........but that hardly makes a whole tribute concert............and this is supposed a tribute for the biggest star the World will ever see!!!!!

If you want to see how a tribute concert should be done, then look up The Freddy Mercury Tribute Concert For Aids Awareness!!!!

Yes

If you reread my post, I was talking about the audience for the BET awards. Which is mostly black of the African persuasion. And, no, I have not personally interviewed all black people myself, but I am black and talk to black people. I read black magazines, and watch black channels. And, yes, they are refective of the attitudes of black people. So yes, I am familiar with how the black community as a whole saw MJ after a certain point. Especially if they were old enough to remember his earlier days.

And Krshna, I have never said no one should be upset at the tribute concert. Of course it has been handled badly. Of course people are going to be upset. I have only spoken out about HOW people talked about the stars in this tribute and how people are coming to conclusions about Jamie out of context. Whatever else people want to say about the concert sans that is on them. I said I wanted to correct misinformation. How people feel outside of this about the trbute is an individual matter and cannot be dictated by anyone else.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I watched the BET awards. Did you?

Yes.

I listened to Jamie's interviews. Did you?

Yes.

Do you know who he really is? Have you examined him and his career, or are you picking and choosing? If you are picking and choosing then there is not need to converse with people who will not educate themselves but yet are so quick to come to a conclusion about who a person is.

Whatever the "average black person" might think about Michael's appearance, I found it inappropriate for Foxx to make reference to that when so MANY other good things could be said about Michael.

Personally, as a FEMALE, I dislike comics whose material is obscene and denigrates women. (I would also have aversion to my own child hearing the Mother-F-er comment every fourth word.) I have seen enough of Foxx's routines that do exactly that, to have formed an educated opinion that there could be much better choices to M.C. the Tribute. That's my opinion, although I respect other opinions, even if I don't agree with them.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Autumn I agree with you. Usually if I begin to look at something and it gets "off," I switch the thing off. That is why I see little TV, but it is a choice I made of what I feel is acceptable for me to ingest.

Personally, I would like to see a tribute for Michael just to celebrate him. I know that Freddy's was done for aids, and that is a good thing. I would want one for Michael only for himself because he always gave to others. It is time we give him that centers on himself. After that we could give some money to charity. I simply want to see the man celebrated! Let him have his day! He deserves it after all the trash he has to put up with including comics who use him for fodder.

The fact that you actually watched the BET awards and listened to Jamie's interviews, and yet still singled out a comment out of context to purposely and falsely persuade people here is alarming to me, especially if you understood the context. The only thing I can hope is that you did not understand the back story that went with and so didn't feel it necessary to try to add any context to the comment.

Also, if you are familiar with Jamie's work, his standup where he has had to be clean in his speech or of his TV show, then you know that he is very capable of cleaning up his speech and his routine when the situation calls for it. And, he does not use the F word every fourth word. The rules of what is appropriate for him to say would have to be dictated to him by those organizing the concert.

But as I said, if someone is familiar with all aspects of Jamie's career and his attitude towards MJ, and they sill object to him being a part of this tribute. What can I say? It is their opinion. But opinions should be based on knowledge. I just want everyone here to know the story. I think we have a responsibility to tell each other accurate information to help one another make up their minds. That is what I am saying. I don't know everything about Jamie and what he has said. But I can speak on the things I have seen and on other examples people are using.

I just think we have to be careful in what we portray to one another.

But BET only speaks for Black-Americans..........not black people in general.........in other words, a minority!!!

I am a British born Indian.......and know tons of Indians, British Indians and African born Indians.........but there's like a billion Indians out there.....there's no such thing as an "average opinion" amongst a gigantic number of people!!!!

To your second point, I guess you have a point. Those stars have just become the target for all the frustration and anger towards the whole so-called tribute!!!!

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Those who feel that MJ is some sort of race traitor are the ones who feel that his lighter skin and plastic surgery are one and the same! When in truth the Plastic Surgery was his choice (stemming from a hard childhood of treasing) and the Vitiligo wasn't (it was inherited) When they educate themselves with this fact and that Vitiligo is a serious disorder and Plastic Surgery is a choice and for all races not excluded to blacks, then people like Jamie Foxx, Spike Lee, Quincy Jones, Bill O'Reily and a sh*t loads of others, including those in the media and even some fans will stop the nonsense once and for all!

All the stars are not targets. There are some main ones, one of which was thrown out.

One of the good things about this concert is that it gives many ideas on what type of tribute they would like for Michael. We can now send our ideas to the estate, so that when the time comes, there will be fan input.

Blue excellent post above.

I already acknowledged this in my post. I said their audience is for Black people of the African persuasion (Black Americans). So I don't understand where the argument is coming from. We are both acknowleding that the same group of people are being spoken for. I do, however, forget sometimes that I am speaking to a group of people all over the world, and a word with a common connotation in my vocab might mean something totally different to someone else. So for that I apologize. Yes, BET's audience is mostly Black Americans whose ancestors are from Africa. That is to whom Jamie spoke and that is the context his words should be taken. Not everyone is going to "get" it or even understand the point Jamie was trying to make. That is understandable as they were not the intended audience. I think these kinds of things need to be made clear to people so people can accurately make up their minds.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Let's see this week what new treats are in store for us in terms of people added to the concert. I wonder if they will include Jessie Jackson to give a speech. He was around Michael during the trial, but I guess many Welsh people would not know who he is.

Exactly. How about Chris Tucker? He and Michael were good friends. Jesse Jackson would be appropriate to speak at the tribute. That would certainly be dignified. I don't particularly dislike Jamie Foxx, and I think he's a brilliant actor. I don't find his "humor" a bit funny, though, a lot of it far too obscene for my comfort level, and it really DOES denigrate women. So given all that, and his comedy at Michael's expense, I really do think better choices could be made. For a TRIBUTE?

It makes you wonder how this concert was planned. I would think that they would call up someone Michael respected and ask the person to tell them whose work did Michael hold in high esteem and who always celebrated him, you know like when we plan a shower or surprise party. We usually ask someone close to the person, to tell us who to invite. What I see here is that they asked people who did not spend much time with Michael, like LaToya and co. and as a result, they do not know who to choose. Plus there is a reason why they could not get a list of internationally known global stars--one of them that few know about GLE.

^^Yeah I like the one he did about Michael calling him Christmas and how he had to act like security. This is a good example of showing that not all comedy about Michael has to be destructive, hurtful, and stigmatizing.

Yes chris never says anything mean or cruel bout mj in his comedy shows and i love that. It shows what a real true friend he was to mj

I honestly think that all these criticism of MJ stem mostly from jealousy. MJ made a lot of people very uncomfortable through his career success. the main stream press in particular (which is white dominated) has always shown some sort of resentment, but only went full force with the 1993 allegations. that's when the real persecution started.

The truth of the matter is there is no-one in Hollywood that has NOT undergone some form of plastic surgery, even OPRAH AND STEVEN SPIELBERG have done some surgery. Plastic surgery in Hollywood is almost like a way of life. and these days plastic surgery is heading mainstream as it becomes affordable. Today I see guys/girls mostly from the middle class undergoing various forms of body enhancement procedures ( e.g breast, butt ) or facial enhancement surgery (e.g botox). So MJ is just scapegoated out of pure jealousy.

I hope I don't offend anyone. But I don't understand why people have a hard time accepting that Michael had vitiligo. It's in the auotpsy. Even Dr. Drew questioned it and he should know better. I don't see why people had an issue like he betrayed being black or something. He had a skin condition that others deal with too. People joking saying he wanted to be white and other comments were out of line I feel. He had no control over that and it must have been hard for him to deal with that in public way. There should have been more understanding and compassion given to him instead of jokes and people turning their backs on him because he looked different. I doubt any of those people would like to have vitiligo and see themselves change and can't do much about it.

Marebare, I think the answer is that people just didn't believe MJ when he said he had vitiligo. So when people saw his lighter skin (which started happening some years before he actually admitted to having vitiligo) and his smaller nose, and the straightened texture of his hair (particularly right after Bad where it appeared to be permed) they wrongly assumed he was trying to change everyting about himself that "made him black". They thought the story of vitiligo, especially when coupled with the other things mentioned above and coupled with the media saying he thinned his lips and did his cheeks and did his eyes, was just an excuse. I think the short story of it is, people are ignorant and are more inclined to believe the worse of people. It seemed more plausible to people that MJ just hated being black as opposed to suffering from some mystery disease. Plus I remember people saying that if MJ could pay to get treatment to turn white, why couldn't he get treatment to turn himself brown again. People are really just that surprisingly misinformed. I remember one of the morning shows on the radio had a show dedicated to this topic and you wouldn't believe how many people thought this was possible. This show was done many years after the announcement on Oprah.

I don't think they knew how much MJ suffered with this. And, I don't think they cared as the option was not even conceivable. Once people have made up their mind about something and when they feel strongly about it, it takes a significant occurrence to make them change it. So many took what he went through as a personal affront to his and their blackness. Emotions like that are very strong. People without understanding felt he was purposely betraying them. I remember a psychologist on Tv saying Mj didn't have vitiligo. And, even if he did, the desire to be white came before the vitiligo. As if he was happy to get vitiligo so he could fulfill some long lost dream of being white. When people like that reaffirm ignorance, it is no wonder people are slow to change.

I think while people felt MJ were turning on him, he must of lamented on how the opposite was actually true. As you said, people were turning on him over something he had no control over. On Oprah, he said this hurt him very much.

The kids no doubt have to go now cause they are desperate to boost sales and they are the closet thing to mj.spike lee and such are idiots has he aplogised after the A.R was released?. sorry to say this but it makes me sick or laugh how some black folks have allowed themselves to be brainwashed by the racist white media and they are to stupid to even realise it.ppl like spike lee who carry the black power type image has been taken in by the very ppl he stands against.it is the white media that are desperate for mj to white and wished he was so they can claim him and if they cant claim him they will accuse mj of wanting to be.did spike lee attack james brown for straightening his hair and if u are black and dont have a big nose does that make u less black cause thats what lee is saying in saying mj got rid of his black features. yeah cause no other black person has straightened their hair and had a nose job. sorry for the rant as this issue really pisses me off.heres me thinking lee was educated i guess not.i had a black work colleage make one of these comments a while back and i let rip its funny how ppl apologise and say i didnt mean it when someone says something back.its a shame cause i like this guy but i dont look at him the same way anymore.but the brainwashing is so deep thank to the media.do black ppl think so little of themselves that they think ppl would rather be white.just another exampke of how they have allowed the racists to get one over on them.and had them turn against mikehope i havnt offended anyone.none ment

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

what do u mean by the "white media", the truth is it was often the leftist media that was more hateful against MJ. I remember during the trial LATimes, Reuters, Guardian often had extremely anti MJ bias. It was FOXNews that gave MJ 1 hour of easy going interview right before the trial. Oh and BTW Marxist civiliastion destroying Guardian newspaper who called MJ overrated after his death and did not deserve to be mentioned with Beatles and Elvis.

Yep id prefer chris tucker there than half of the ppl that have been announced to be there
I doubt real friends will get asked as mj spent more time with chris etc than his own family in the last years.ppl like this no doubt piss the family off.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

The white media is what is.white owned run media. class and political views makes no difference in the way they report on mj they are all the same. u only have to look at the hate spewed from the liberal press in the uk like the guardian.thats no different to the hate sprewed by the right wing press like the mail and murdochs many papersu obviously have issue with the liberal press and have a politcal view to defend the right wing.but when it comes to the press they are all the same in the way they treat mj.fox news were one of the worse geraldo kept getting sent to iraq when he defended mj to much. and when mj was in washington for a aids charity do it was noted by the presenter that gays are paedos and only gays get aids so thats why mj was there
