MJ Forever Tribute/ MJJC Statement / Estate statement / Fan letter pg51/ GLE put on administration

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

It was hard to hear at first, so speakers of English as a second (or third) language might not have caught that? I listened again, and then thought, "Oh, TELL ME he's not really saying that!" But he was, and he did. That line is REALLY there, and it's despicable.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I wonder if the Management Teams of artist like X-Tina and Cee-Lo are aware of what has been going on with this so-called "tribute." The fan boycott. The charity questions. The 2-for-1 drama. The slashed price drama. The conference calls. The open letter to the fan community.

I certainly wouldn't want one of my clients involved with all of this drama. Drama that continues to grow each and everyday. Just one HUGE mess, in my opinion.

For the artists, the "personal" invite from Katherine might trump the dramas. Her bond with MJ is still probably highly regarded in the industry, and if Global is playing the Katherine card heavily, contacting them on her behalf , saying she knows MJ would love for them to participate, they could be falling for it. No doubt in my mind that's why Smokey and Glady's are participating.

For the memorial, Jennifer Hudson later said in an interview she was honored to be asked to participate, but was surprised they asked her because she didn't know MJ personally. But she was told he greatly admired her work and followed her on American Idol. She said she was surprised and honored hearing that he even knew of her and participated.

Plus, being in the business themselves, the artists' concerts may have had problems, surely nothing like these, but they might not give things the same importance as we do, and are taking it all in stride, and are participating because of their admiration for MJ's work. And for some I'm sure, it's a paying job. Not everybody on that line up is exactly in high demand. It being for MJ just adds more incentive.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

He SAYS, "You don't even know who's that in the video, he done TORE HIS FACE UP SO MUCH." (first line of the "comedy" routine.) He speaks fast, so ESL speakers might not have caught that? He REALLY says that, though.

Anyone think that is remotely acceptable????????

The "much-beloved" Katherine insulted Michael's face so maybe GLE thinks it's okay to invite Foxx to perform.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Jamie Foxx also used to be in In Living Color. I knew he had trash talked Michael, but I didn't know what specifically. Another fail for GLE and the Jacksons.

I "believe" there was also a time when Jamie Foxx called Michael a "white woman" in one of his comedy acts. It was during the time when it was "fashionable" for comedians to use those words while describing Michael Jackson.

I'm sure, sooner or later, somebody will be able to dig that clip up.

I'll tell you one thing, Global Live must not think much of this Jamie Foxx announcement, they didn't even add it to their Facebook page yet.

I am thinking the same thing. Personally, I'm thinking that the tribute, at this point, could be relying very heavily on the fans of the artists involved, because the majority of MJ fans don't want anything to do with it. That's the best reason I can think of as for why this is going forward even with all the controversy. Then again, with so many people being against MJ because of all the tabloid and opinionated crap about him, I sometimes wonder if even MJ haters who are fans of the artists performing in the tribute would want to support a concert in dedication to a man they do not like.

I think Jamie was always a fan but yeah he said some hurtful jokes in the past. I never him said any jokes relating to child molestation allegations or implied he believed in those lies.

Here is Jamie after Michael passed away:

I remember that one ("white woman" remark). Can't find the clip, though. Surely they could find some folks who have NOT made fun of Michael? For a TRIBUTE?

Can't wait to see the video that Autumn posted, on their facebook page.

We gonna laugh.

In my opinion, Jamie Foxx just jumped on the "we love MJ" wagon after Michael died.

But when it was "chic" and "en vogue" to use Michael Jackson as the butt of your joke, Jamie Foxx was right there with the rest of them. Kicking Michael when he was already down.

Now don't get me wrong, I can take a joke just like everybody else, but NOT when a person was struggling like we all saw Michael struggle. As far as I'm concerned, they could have left Michael out of their comedy routines, but when 1 comedian did it, they ALL just joined in.

Even though they weren't making fun of me personally, it still hurt me personally!

I agree. I think so, too. It's sad really. Even Chris Rock was a fan but he still dissed Michael a lot. Michael saw that "Tommy Davidson" parody of him on "In Living Color" and Michael thought it was funny (Tommy just impersonating him) to my surprise.

I agree. This is a decent line up now, still NOT the "galaxy" that was hyped, but with the reduced prices, it's conceivable many more will want to attend for their favs. But as you say, if they are not into MJ, they'd be coming to hear all MJ songs, so why come.

If Justin Bieber was being given a tribute, and my favs were participating, but were ONLY going to sing JB songs, I'd only be in attendance if it was FREE. And I'm not a JB hater, I'm just not interested in his worK. I don't care who's singing the songs--unless it was my sweetheart, Michael, of course. Then I'd force myself to go, but MJ would have to be the first act.

When did Chris Rock say that he was a fan? I never got that fan vibe from him even after 6/25 when so many entertainers jumped back on the fan bandwagon.

I don't think that Michael minded jokes about him that weren't mean spirited.

They are going to keep this ship afloat with their last breath, in my opinion.

They had to discount the tickets, which means their BUDGET has been severely impacted, that's for sure.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Guess humor is in the eye of the beholder...just watched some of foxx's 'humor'...ugh. Talk about insulting to women...yet the audience just lapped it up...smh

And, btw, I don't see any more talk about Aretha Franklin...weren't they advertising her too?

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

The reason why they have artists who disrespect Michael, is because this show is not about Michael. We have known that since day one. This is a Jackson show using the name Michael to get people to buy tickets. We should let them know that this is what we think.

We have average entertainers, including some that said disgraceful comments about Michael like Foxx. What kind of tribute is this? The list of performers are made up of people who really need that pay check. They can't say no to any event. Do you think Michael said yes to all events pushed at him? NO!!! He had standards. This group of artist will do anything to have their name and act promoted. So I am not impressed.

Thank God they cannot use Michael's full name. At least that is something Michael Jackson does not have to deal with from beyond--the abuse of his full name. Since this is going on regardless, we can only hope for little profit on their part. I hope they encounter much expense. I know this is not nice, but this is the way I feel now.

Michael Jackson Tribute Concert Offers Buy One Get One Free; Desperation Grows
By Ben Westhoff Fri., Sep. 9 2011 at 11:27 AM

?Update: In a sign of further chaos, the tribute organizers have abruptly canceled the buy one get one free ticket promotion. Stay tuned for more updates.

In July told you about how (part of) the Jackson Family announced the Michael Jackson tribute concert -- scheduled for October 8 in Wales -- in the most obnoxious way possible.

In August we broke news about the host of problems the event is having; the show takes place at the same time Jackson's doctor will be tried for manslaughter, MJ's children are more or less contractually obligated to attend, the estate is trying to sink it, and the fans hate the idea of it.

Oh, and the line-up is extremely weak. At least if you're not into Alien Ant Farm.

Now it's become increasingly clear how desperate the organizers are to fill the 75,000 capacity Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Starting today, if you buy one ticket you get another one free. While that sucks donkey gonads for couples and groups who've already dropped big cash for tickets, it's excellent news for on-the-fence locals considering traveling nearly a full day to observe folks like Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green. (Because, when do you ever get to see them besides always?)

The latest addition to the line-up is rap and bullshit crooner Ne-Yo, who's now listed third on the bill, despite the fact that he's mainly known for ripping off Kanye West's "Flashing Lights" with his song "Miss Independent."

Oh, but there's more.
The artist who gets second billing? Beyonce, who would actually be a pretty good get except for the fact that they didn't actually get her. She'll be appearing by "video," which is sort of like the 1950s equivalent of a live feed.

But again, in the making lemonade department, those inspired to journey 5300 miles for Sasha Fierce on television can bring a friend. It looks like a pair of standing room tickets will now cost you about 60 pounds, which almost sort of sounds like a bargain.

Still, if you want our advice, you should probably hold off, at least for now. Tickets will almost certainly be further discounted before this thing is over; that is, if it's held at all.

It's fair to say that, in this case, the late bird will probably get the worm.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Yeah, good idea. The event will be further discounted, so people should hold off and buy their ticket on the 7th of October.
Maybe Beyonce is sending them the tribute she did with Halo. That would be appropriate. Where is Mr. Hunt with his weekend projections. Last weekend they were supposed to sell 50% which did not happen? Can you ask him what is the projection for this weekend. This is becoming a good game to play.

Jamie Foxx? :wtf: What madness this mess   .... I wonder if it can get even more worse than it already is.... :fear:

Beyonce Drops Out Of Line-Up For Michael Jackson Tribute

Show Pregnancy playing a part?

Michael Jackson's tribute concert may have just suffered its worst blow since the ill-fated show was announced as Beyonce has reportedly pulled out of the line-up!

The '1+1' singer, who recently announced her pregnancy, was expected to take part in the show paying tribute to Jackson 5 via satellite but now the singer will only send a video message.

According to the Ticketmaster website, the 30-year-old will be making "a special contribution on video" for the event that will take place on October 8 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff but she won't be performing.

A source also told RadarOnline: ”Beyonce won’t be performing a song live via satellite for the tribute concert now.” Stars performing on the night include Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green, Gladys Knight, Leona Lewis, Ne-Yo, Smokey Robinson, JLS, Alexandra Burke and... Craig David.

The 'Michael Forever Tribute' concert has suffered many setbacks since it's beginning as several of the 'Thriller' legend's siblings won't be there because of the Dr. Conrad Murray trial, Kiss were also dropped from the line-up after complaints from Jackson fans and there have been ticketing issues.

Beyonce and her baby bump...

If they wanted a comic, Steve Harvey probably would have been the better choice. He's made jokes about Michael too, but they were all pretty respectful. At least he knew Michael.

Chris Rock has stated that he was a fan. Unfortunateley I can't give you a specific inciden but on his old HBO show he said that Prince won the MJ vs Prince debate given the allegations against Michael and after the second allegations he turned in his glove. It really doesn't matter if he WAS a fan because he IS an ass now. That means GLE is trying to book him for the tribute asap.

Here is Jamie after Michael passed away:

Yes, but it's no excuse to the hurtful jokes he's made about Michael's appearance. I can never accept a person who joked about Michael's face, as a fan. Look at it this way, that clip was from after his death when many people jumped the bandwagon. Jamie Foxx is probably one of them. There is nothing to suggest he admired or respected Michael, prior to his passing.

It's so pathetic, that his family of all people will lower themselves to this level, and degrade their son/brother for money. They should at least be grateful for all he did to them while alive. I cannot stand their fakeas$ tears and love anymore.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Have you noticed that in the last report above^^ the reporter said tribute to the Jackson 5, so even others know this is more about the Jacksons than Michael Jackson. This is really a showcase of Jackson talent and other artist.

Has there been any information from the estate online team, since the last letter from GLE yesterday?
