You know this really makes me sad. I've been an MJ fan for over 25 years. I came to this forum because I thought I'd found a good place to honor his legacy and be part of his extended family. I thought I would find some great support for him and his legacy. I was soo excited and I am still sooo excited about his new album and all the projects coming out. I just thought his fans would support him 100%, but all I see for the most part are fans that want to boycott this album. If you do that then of course that is your choice, but you will be damaging his legacy for good. You think this would hurt Sony in any way, not at all. They will survive, but Michael will not. No sales means forgotten Michael and the media would have a field day.
I've come to this forum, always hoping for positivity but for the most part all I read was negativity from the very beginning of this New album thread. I just have been taken aback at how negative and nitpicky all of you are.

I've listened to Breaking News and I absolutely love it, it is so catchy and wonderful. It is so much better than any crap out there. AND I believe it is Michael. His family once again have done a good job in damaging him. He stayed away from his family for a reason. Money and greed are very powerful, and that is what his family (Joe and co.) are all about. Joe has been that way since Michael was 5, why would he stop now?

If you don't believe Teddy Riley, again that is your prerogative, but I certainly do. I do more than I will ever believe his family- that is for darned sure! Too bad you are not giving this the benefit of the doubt. Michael never got it through his life, and now some of the fans here are not giving the benefit of the doubt to this incredible song. How sad, imo.

I'm so depressed and frustrated, so I had to speak out and vent with my posts. And I'm depressed because his own fans are doing this to Michael not because of the new song or new album. I am so incredibly excited about it all- the album will be incredible I just know it.

Goodbye.
I believe in Jerkins

goodbye

@tricia70 I have ALWAYS and ALWAYS will continue to support Michael Jackson.

You feel that Breaking News is Michael... I don't think it is Michael ( Fully )

Because of that fact, It does NOT mean I am not supporting him. Just the opposite in fact.

I'm hearing the track right now for the first time. I'm halfway through. WTF?

edit... Oh my freaking God. How could they expect an eight year old child to not be able to tell the difference between this guy and Michael Jackson.

I'm confused... Teddy does seem authentic. Who knows, there is a possibility it's him even though it doesn't sound like it. I'm keeping my mind open. We need to hear from the estate and Sony.

Me too, wondering why it is taking too long for them to release a statement

For sure we want some explanations : why it's not Michael Jackson singing on it !

I'm not a fan of Teddy Riley... his productions sound 'dated' like he cant move away from the early 90's....he killed the Spice Girls career after producing their last ever album.

Bring back Quincy Jones any day...

I am so disappointed about this. Sony and the Estate need to say something this as soon as possible. Why would they allow themselves to get into a mess as big as this? I wanted to believe that this is Michael because just once I needed to be able to trust that not every project is going to end up a shambles even just for my own sanity. But with it being all over the place that Michael was not singing on Breaking News, someone has to answer for what happened here. It hurts when things like this go on in Michael's world because then I feel like an idiot for being happy about something.

Maybe it's MJ's voice, heavaly edited, layerede and manipulated.

Ever sit back and think about how much we have to endure as a fanbase? I'm almost not even surprised anymore that we're all being forced into shock and confusion at a time when we should have been able to rejoice. This is just unnecessary.

The thing is, you're right, maybe...but why the hell should we pay the same amount of money for a product that could either be michael jackson the king of pop, or some lame sound-alike. I know we're really desperate for anything new thats MJ, but we also have to be intelligent and not give in to corporate bastards like Sony. If we do, then we really are as 'dumb' as they say we are by going crazy over anything that smells like MJ regardless of its quality or authenticity..

Yeah. I was thinking about this today. Just one crushing blow after the other.

Unfortunately, this fan base is sometimes its own worst enemy.

This is starting to remind me of all of the TII conspiracies from a year ago... sheesh.

This is It had the luxury of being directed by Michael's dear friend and director of his shows as well as director of his two world tours. So it was made with love and care. However, I feel like these new upcoming projects, particularly MICHAEL are simply sony executives deciding how to make money rather than producers and arrangers deciding how to make a good album and pay respect to Michael. Where are the people who are working on this album, who are they and what's their position. Who's producing, who's mixing, who's arranging?? It honestly seems like they're just hiring any lame person to do the job. And I've seen signs of this before. Like the release of the 1983 song as "This Is It" the brand new single! And minor signs like putting a picture of Michael from the History tour on the back of the Live from Bucharest DVD. He had gold pants on for heaven's sake!! How unprofessional is that? It's like these people didn't even take the time to do a quick google search even...

I think we have pretty good reason to kick up a fuss about a fake MJ song being marketed as something that's supposed to be on the first new album to honour his legacy.

I don't think having one of Michael's long-time producers who worked on Dangerous, HIStory and Invincible is considered someone trying to make money. Sounds like trying to protect a legacy to me.

And Michael worked with different producers all the time -- if they're good enough for him, they're good enough for me.

Do you have concrete evidence that it is fake? Didn't think so.

Until there is any such evidence to prove to the contrary, I don't see how people can go around bashing the track, etc. THAT does more to harm Michael's legacy than anything else.

I thought this: Maybe MJ uses a new vocal sound and wanted in this song to not really sounds familiar cause he sings in a "third person mode". That explains for me the "strange" vocals. Like he says these things as if he was someone else.

I had similar thoughts. It's like a two person conversation. The chorus is being sung differently than the verse. The verses have so much more "tension" going on while the chorus is much more "softer" voice asking "why is it strange that I would fall in love?".

It's not like the twitters from 3T have solely and miraculously managed to put severe doubt and dismay into 90% of this community. There's a reason why this issue is being highlighted so much. Most fans clearly hear something very, very wrong with this recording. I didn't mean to speak for everyone, but in my opinion I'm completely sure that it's not Michael and I'm very angry about being insulted like this as a fan.

That's not what I meant. Michael definitely worked with different producers, but my point is that there isn't any clear indication of someone directing this project and looking out for its integrity. I may be wrong, but that's what I'm seeing. Plus I love Dangerous and think that Teddy Riley's work with MJ was awesome. But even he said himself that he only worked on mixing the album and had nothing to do with producing the vocals and putting the song together. His main concern was keeping MJ's legacy alive, whether its through real vocals or not, didnt seem to matter to him, although he did believe it was real...
