Michael - The Great Album Debate

The Bad album's remixes were the best!! I love how Another Part of Me's extended mix builds up to it and you have some time to listen to that amazing bass! I've also been listening to the Annie mix of Smooth Criminal lately, I just love how they build up the chorus and it almost becomes orchestral in its sound!

Well that was my point and how it all started for me.

But aside from official releases, the disco bars, djs and radio stations were playing some unofficial remixes which back then were awesome. Here's one or two examples:

Rick Astley? I think I’ve been rick rolled :D

It’s amazing how mixes evolved since the late 80’s: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n58pKUTLOeM and then dubstep, etc.

I love mixes, I even wanted to be a DJ when I was a kid, and never understood all the hate to electronic music in general.

And it’s such a pleasant surprise to hear MJ in the discos, just makes you want to jump to the dance floor :D

@Bumper and lucilla: I don't know whether it's an official mix, fanmade or an unreleased one. Some months ago i found a link to it in a forum (can't remember if here or in another one).

I looked it up on youtube and google videosearch, but didn't find it. But if you search it with the Google standardsearch, you'll get download links.
Does anybody know if this is a leaked official one? I don't wanna post illegal stuff.
No idea, but thanks for looking :)

Well, by not buying the maxi cd remixes you actually miss a lot. YOu'd be surprised sometimes.
As far as I am concerned this version officially released on a maxi cd is far better, softer, than on the album version:

Never heard this - seems legit since an a cappella has been used.

I like it :D
My favorite version of One More Chance is the Paul Oakenfold Mix

Wow. I have a lot to catch up.

Here, just to help you a little bit out, you'll find some of the officially released extended versions, instrumentals and remixes. There are many more, but in my opinion these are among the best (official) remixes.

^^^^That's great. There are so many, that you don't know which ones are worth listening to. Happy with all the knowledgable people in this thread.

Now I have to see where I find to the time to listen to 3½ hrs of music in between the daily duties, lol.

Some youtube-clips being posted and guess who's checking the thread again: "nasty" :D

See?

What's the name of the remix of YRMW, and it starts with an acapella which is changed in pitch/tempo. He says 'Rock my woorlldd' at the start, but that's all I can remember

Thanks for posting these - some of the remixes are really cool (took me some time to listen to them all)

I LOVE this Beat It Moby's Sub Mix, reminds me of the old The Prodigy sound ;)

Scream Louder and Ghosts (Mousse T's Radio Rock Singalong Remix) are also great and Who Is It IHS mix is one of my favourite remixes ever :D

:D

How could have I forgotten! Shame on me!

and there is also the 12 inches mix of Stevie Wonder & Michael Jackson "GET IT", but it's nowhere to be found on youtube.

I recorded a song with Michael Jackson in my attick. He was singing, I was there, you know pushing the buttons. Unfortunately we didn't have time to finish the song, so we had to do some ad-libs copy pasting and reajust some notes with melodyne and autotune, that's why it sounds a bit off. But I can guarantee, this is a brand new MJ's song.

Unfortunately I don't have other demos, the computer is broken down. This is all what has left from our session. I don't have any other proof but, I do have a photo of my empty attick and the vocal analysts are positive 100% that this is MJ's voice:

And here I have an exclusive recording of MJ when he was warming up his voice in the Cascio underground:

p.s. Of course I didn't credit the inserted sentences from previous songs, it would be absurd to credit MJ from previous songs on a new MJ song :D

In my opinion 'Take me away' is created with more respect and eye for details than the Cascio songs. That must have took so much time to puzzle all the pieces together. It's a piece of art on it's own. Of course it's a 'Frankenstein' song and when you listen you will hear how it's made, it's obvious, but at least Michael's voice is recognizable.

ETA: I started listening to the mixes. First "Don't stop til you get enough" (favourite, ultimate dancesong for me) and I didn't like it. The climaxes weren't there (at 3.00, THE magical moment in the original for me....I waited for it and there was nothing....jeeezz...what an anti-climax) it's boring. In the original every second is exiting. All the elements that made it a great dancetrack are left out. Could be because it's an 'underground' mix and that has a certain sound to it...dunno. But the spirit of the original wasn't there.

Ok, let's listen to the rest...:D

I agree...and the best thing about it? We know who's singing :D I like the song, it has a nice melody :)

I still don't understand why processing is still used to explain the Cascio songs

hehe, :D My thanks was only for the first paragraph of your post.

But I like most of the mixes, in my opinion there's no use in comparing them with the originals, the whole point is that the mixes can be different. The truth is the originals will always be better in every way.

See, remixes are a love/hate thing for me...The remix can either make or break the song....Sometimes, remixes show different elements of a song that were maybe not heard as clearly in the original...(ex: taking away the vocals and just listening to the composition)...That's actually what I love about the Bad extended mix with the false fade....You can hear that funky guitar in the original, but even MORE SO in the mix....Making it even funkier, IMO...Michael's music is so diverse, so many things can be done with it...There are little pieces of magic that come out...:D....And sometimes, the remixes sort of don't do anything for the song...sometimes even taking away some of that magic...Good remixes bring out the greatness in the song, IMO...
