Michael - The Great Album Debate

@KOPV, I tihnk comparing this thread to all other threads is a bit inconsistent. This thread is so long because not only are people still interested in the topic, but this is the only place on the whole board where this topic can be discussed, and the only thread.

For instance, you mentioned stories of people calling MJ an addict. We have many threads that deal one way or another about people's opinions on this. Now suppose this topic was relegated to only one thread. That thread would be huge.

Suppose Michael's family could only be talked about in one thread and one thread only? That thread would be huge. Suppose all stories that involvede molestation could only be talked about in one thread? That thread would be huge. The point is, with other topics on the board, people can make as many topics about a subject as they want focusing on different aspects of the same subject. Therefore, you end up with many smaler threads. With this topic, there is only one place to go.

Otherwise you might have ended up with topics like "Comprisons", "Vibrato", "Copyrights", etc. So please don't determine that since this thread is so long, people are obsessing over it to the neglect of other topics. The thread is just compact. :)

I'm no longer participating in this thread because as far as I'm concerned, it is settled, but I just have to say one last time :

All of those audio comparisons are pointless, by their very nature. They have no scientific value, and are entirely subjective : you hear what you want to hear.

Forget about the subjective, and stick to the objective.

You can always kill any discussion instantly by terms as "subjective" and "opinion" ...

Reading through the first BN thread again... *plays sad music* Reading the first reactions ever.. Almost everyone says it's not MJ. So sad. Also, look at the poll (which was closed, re-opened, then closed again):

Have a look guys.

ginvid, your reaction, hehe: "UUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Somtimes it sounds like him. But when it first opens, I was like, "Who is this"? Towards the end it sounds more like him. There has to be a huge conspiracy against the fans. WHY? WHY? WHY? Tell me why?!!!"

Edit: My first post in that thread:

"MJJC BACK! FINALLY!

Everyone need to know this!
This is NOT MICHAEL JACKSON AT ALL. REAL FANS CAN TELL EASILY.
THIS IS JASON MALACHI, PAID TO DO VOCALS.
WE CAN'T BELIEVE HOW SONY, THE ESTATE AND OTHER PEOPLE WORKING ON IT COULD DO THIS TO US AND MICHAEL.

^ Very interesting thread to look through now :lol:

There's a ton of posters in there that don't seem to post anymore either.. =X

^ Probably became so pissed at what Sony chose to do, that they gave up the MJ community.

It's funny but sad at the same time. Seeing all that excitement, then the immediate reaction when the song streamed. It would be comedy if it wasn't such a reality.

I think it's sad only. I know their feelings, it was a horrible day. All of the following months were really bad. I even had nightmares.

....love it! :cheeky:

eeeeeeeeek!! can't wait!! :wild:

...Hey! Is anyone listening to any MJ to pump them up? :D :punk:

^^ That is our very own Arky's reaction to before the song streamed. $ony, fcku you!

I'm listening to Classic Mike: Christmas songs and a little If You Don't Love Me.

Everyone thought it was a publicity stunt and Sony was just building interest for the album release, and that somewhere, lying on a desk or something, SOMEWHERE, there was an actual Michael version of this song....

Sad, so sad.

Yeah I think so too.

Also as a side note..I've always felt that the streaming of Breaking News was a extremely odd thing to do..I remember they first had a preview of it a day before the stream with no vocals, just a little bit of instrumental and an MJ *aooowww* at the end of it..I distinctly remember a lot of people asking "That's weird, why didn't they have any preview of the singing?" in the chat room at the time. At the time it did strike me as a bit odd as well, but I figured it was just to create more anticipation.

It makes no sense that the first *official* Michael Jackson song shown in many years was this one. There is no doubt in my mind that they knew many fans would react like "...Is this really Michael?.." before they streamed it..Some suggested it was to test if it would fool the fans, others said it could be a PR stunt but there was no logical reason to do so.

I think it was simply to build hype. I think Sony already knew the songs were fake (or at least the Estate). But that's another discussion.

Until this day nobody was able to get a statement from Seth Riggs about the vocals, right?
He sure as hell doesn't want to be drawn into this thing.

^ the thing is it anyone commenting just makes things worse I guess.. Even Seth.. If he said it wasnt Michael.. All of a sudden it would be an "expert opinion" that fans would all of a sudden accept.. If he said it was Michael, then fans will just say he does not know what he's talking about and he's not an "expert" anyways..

Either way, it will be twisted!

Classic!!! I remember, I was going back and forth at the beginning. I really WANTED it to be Michael. I really did. But there was only so much denial I could be in. For me personally, I had to ask if I really heard MJ. I thought simple logic would dictate that this had to be Michael because I couldn't imagine someone actually fabricating this. The implications of such actions are vey weighty. However, I had to concede that there was no need to deny what I was hearing. To me, it was very clear, that was not Michael.

Some fans may feel very differently. I can understand the mixed emotions some might have. And, the copy/paste of Mj vocals from other songs does nothing but confuse people.

It is a very clever rouse indeed. Well played and very effective.

It's vey sad.

Of course, a number of believers would do the exact same thing:

If Seth is pro-Cascio, he's a trusted professional and proof that the songs are real.

If Seth is anti-Cascio, he's just some celebrity with an ulterior motive.

^ I don't think so.. those who believe its Michael will believe more that it is if Seth was pro cascio tracks.. and if he was anti, they would consider the possibility more..

Pro cascio track fans have been really the only ones willing to truly accept the opinion of "experts".. they never dismissed..

if you don't believe me, ask them..

Those who believe it IS Michael on those tracks... IF Seth stated it wasn't Michael would you consider the fact it's not Michael?? Honest!!!

I know I sure as hell would considering no one has worked with Michaels voice MORE than Seth Riggs

It’s sad to go through the Breaking News thread again. It’s heartbreaking to see the contrast of fans’ reaction before and after the first streaming of Breaking News. So many people stayed up all night waiting to hear the first unreleased Michael Jackson song in almost a decade. Instead of celebrating, fans spent the next day questioning and wondering. Just so sad…. L</SPAN></SPAN></SPAN>

It took me a long time to find my own post. That thread must be one of the fastest moving threads in MJJC history. It took less than 12 hours to accumulate more than 100 pages. </SPAN>

This is my first post after listening to Breaking News:</SPAN>

To me the issue really isn’t fake vs. authentic. This song is not a fake MJ song for there is some MJ vocals. The issue is that Sony and/or the Estate are willing to go that far to get an imposer or use computer to “fill in the gap” to turn an original unreleasable demo to a finished track.</SPAN>

If they advertise this song as a Michael Jackson demo, then I’d feel better. Because I know what to expect. But, what they are doing now is borderline cheating. It kills integrity of the project. When I buy a Michael Jackson product, I always get high quality material. Everything from the Jackson Five albums to This Is It stands for quality. Quality should be what the Estate of Michael Jackson stands for.
</SPAN>

Will I buy the album? Yes, because I still hope there are genuine Michael Jackson songs in the album. But, this whole “Breaking News” fiasco is affecting my confidence in all future projects.
</SPAN>

I’m disappointed at Teddy Riley. As a highly talented producer himself, he should have told Sony and/or the Estate that Breaking News should not be released. Isn’t it a producer’s job to help the artist to select appropriate material to be included in the album? He not only allowed this to happen, but also helped making it. WHY?????
</SPAN>

Breaking News is just not strong enough to be marketed as a Michael Jackson song. I’m not insulting Michael’s vocal. I’m talking about the whole production of the song. It really can’t hold up to Michael’s standard.
</SPAN>
I’m surprised to see how idealistic I was just a year ago. I feel I’m jaded now. </SPAN>

If it makes you feel better, my complete confidence in unreleased songs has been completely shattered since my optimistic reaction to the song, declaring how much I loved it and how happy I was to hear it... My, how gullible and inexperienced I was...

Reading the Breaking News thread is like going through a memory lane. It reminds me how active this forum used to be a year ago. It's truly sad to see so many members who used to post often have disappeared. They are no longer active in anywhere of this board. :(

Unfortunately, the damage the Cascio tracks helped cause in the fan community is quite long lasting.

Just to be clear: nothing has happened behind the scenes to close this issue. There are court cases to be heard beginning in January. Anuthing else stated to the contrary is pure spin.

:better: :hug:

it's sad that we have to take this kind of emotional roller coaster after losing the man we love so much.

What KIND of court cases, exactly?

Thanks, Love :) You always know how to cheer me up!

You're right, the timing of this is what hurt the most...
