Michael - The Great Album Debate

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Why wouldn't a pin-up girl be talked about in a song about tabloids and paparazzi?

i'm talking about a theme or a context, whatever you want to call it.

in a song that talk about hollywood and glamours, then it makes sense to reference to a pin-up girl. like hollywood tonight...

a song like monster is a song about media and paparazzi abuse. if you listen to songs with similar theme, such as tabloid junkie and privacy, the lyrics are coherent.

i guess the lyrics are just work-in-progress...

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Woah, Korgnex, quite the descriptive story there:lol: from such vague lyrics. But I like it. :D

Yes, amazing. We've found out the sex of the person in question, as well as their occupation. Quite something, that.

haha...looks like the lyrics to Monster are all over the place....Just like....hmmm....Keep Your Head Up....Well, at least the same inconsistent themes are consistent between the songs...lol

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

^ The song is about a model/pin-up girl making a steep career which catapults her up to Hollywood. It's also criticizing the downfall of your personality as the career is taking over your life, the restless paparazzi and that it's common in that game that people managing you aren't good for you, they're only wanting you to continue working. They're not treating you like a person, they're "monsters", they're like animals because they are pushing on you.

The song isn't just about paparazzi. It's far more.

I thought I hear "he's a monster. he's an animal." so, who are "they"? and who is "he"?

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

The Cascio lyrics are neither better nor worse than a lot of the lyrics MJ has sung over the years. You're imagining them to be worse because it fits your idea that they're fake songs. It's all in your imagination, and it's all psychological, like the rest.

Besides, chances are MJ did not even write the lyrics.

Chances are he also didn't sing any of this shit.

Please post any lyrics that are worse than 'Killing up the life in the birds and the trees... sucking up the air from the earth and under me

I know you're always so desperate to point to Michael's weak lyricism (completely baselessly) so this should be easy.

LOL! The sex of the person in question is 100% clear. Take a proper look at the lyrics! I'm keen to see if you can find the spot where it's determined without a doubt.

I find it quite interesting that some of you hate those songs that much that you don't even know what they are about. Your surprise about the sex of the person in question is a bit embarrassing.

I thought I hear "he's a monster. he's an animal." so, who are "they"? and who is "he"?

"he" = the manager of the pin-up girl
"they" =
  • 1) paparazzi / stalkers / freaked out fans
You can look at them coming out the walls
You can look at them climbing out the bushes
You can find 'em when the letter's 'bout to fall
  • 2) other people in the business
And you're running, and you're running just to scape it
But they're gunning for the money, so they fake it
--> People working with you, especially managing you, will release fake statements to hush up that you've got personal trouble (e.g. drug addiction / anorexia / insomnia etc) to ensure that your career doesn't come to an abrupt end due to a scandal

Nah. The lyrics to KYHU really are all over the place.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Personal grading of lyrics has no relevance. Everything is subjective.

Maybe you should take a look at some of the weaker songs's lyrics on INVINCIBLE...

I'm actually tired of people brining up INVINCIBLE as proof that Michael Jackson had weak songs.

Like Invincible or not, the album is extremely underrated and certainly doesn't deserve to be compared to some incomplete songs.

One seems to ignore the great moments in the album. You Rock My World, Speechless, Butterflies, Whatever Happened and Theatened are among the best songs Michael recorded. Five songs right there in one album. I don't know about you, but I don't have that many albums that I can name five great songs in each one.

The Cascio tracks, real or fake, like them or hate them, are simply not that exceptional.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I agree... the lyrics of the Cascio tracks are neither better nor worse compared to many MJ songs. Look at some of the cheesy stuff in Earth Song "What about elephants have we lost their trust". Some people in here are labeling the lyrics to be crappy because they think the songs are fake. That's really biased. The lyrics in the Cascio tracks aren't horrible, but they are not genius either. But they are something MJ COULD have wrote. That's always a possibility.

What's wrong with these lyrics please? If you find this spot weak, it's your personal feeling. Others might find it OK or even great.

There are fans that hate the ballads (e.g. "Cry", "Butterflies", "You Are Not Alone", "Childhood", "Smile", "Gone Too Soon", "Human Nature" etc." , they call the lyrics weak. Others hate the up-tempo tracks from DANGEROUS or INVINCIBLE.

So WHAT???

I'm actually tired of people brining up INVINCIBLE as proof that Michael Jackson had weak songs.

It's often mentioned because many fans feel it has the most songs that - to quote you - "are simply not that exceptional".
For me these "not so exceptional" songs are: "You Are My Life", "Don't Walk Away" and "The Lost Children". Pretty much boring to ME (yeah, this is only MY personal feeling which means NOTHING in the end).

Please explain to me how ANY of the lyrics in Earth Song are cheesy. Wow. The lyrics in a a masterpiece like that being referred to as cheesy???

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

*Enters mysteriously*

I agree, I think "Keep Your Head Up" knocks out two subjects at once: a social anthem and a plea to save the planet. A great way to amalgamate two subjects that require the world to be united.

Thanks for your very insightful posts, Korgnex!

I wouldn't spend my time reading those bullshit lyrics so you'll have to indulge us as you're so desperate to tie these monstrosities to Michael Jackson.

Earth Song is 'cheesy'? Wow... just wow...

I guess I can understand why it's easy to embrace the lyrics in the Cascio tracks then....Wow is right..

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

^ It just shows you that not ALL of the MJ fans have the same opinions. Some MJ fans don't like "Billie Jean". Are they no fans now because of that?
Are you no fan if you don't like one of these so-called master pieces? There are people that never listen to the Thriller album e.g. Are they also no fans?

Think a bit more rational please. Sometimes it's like in the kindergarden here. It's no serious discussion that way. ;)

See, this posting just unveils that you hate the Cascio recordings so much that you want them to be sung by a MJ impersonator. Otherwise you would be pissed off.

I'm not desperately doing anything. I don't let emotions control my sense.

That line about elephants isn't cheesy. It's plain depressing truth, after what humans have been doing to them. Young elephants are scarred for life after watching their mothers die. They can be traumatised just like us.

So WHAT???

It's not my 'personal feeling'. And it's not 'subjective'.

'Killing up the life in the birds and the trees... sucking up the air from the earth and under me' - where do I begin? Grammatically pathetic and a complete abuse of the English language. 'Killing up'? Put that in a sentence one day and see what people say to you. 'Sucking up the air from the earth and under me'? What is he? Flying? In what realm of possibilities does that make sense? 'Sucking up the air from the EARTH and UNDER ME'? What air is under him???

No, it just shows that some people have no understanding of Michael Jackson's songwriting and level of artistry.

People can have whatever opinion they want. They can NOT like Billie Jean, that's fine. But to then say that Billie Jean is not a great song would be completely incorrect. It's brilliantly written, brilliantly composed and brilliantly performed. One person's taste isn't going to change the quality of the record.

That's the issue here. Quality isn't subjective. Taste is.

Nope. You're raising him on an unreachable throne that can't be reached by any human being. And in the end, Michael Jackson has always been a human being, not a God-like figure with pure perfection.

Some fans are really fanatics (that's what the word "fan" actually comes from), others aren't.

Accept things you don't like. I'm sure you had a hard time accepting other flaws of MJ in the past. I don't have to name them, you know what happened.

No offense intended.

:D Thanks man, I completely agree....

"I'm killin' up baby, I'm suckin' up, I'm zig-zaggin' baby!!! Owwwww!!!"

Please stop it :hysterical: ... you're killing me!

Wow, now it's really getting nasty here...

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Where are the Michael Jackson lyrics that are on a par with 'Killing up the life in the birds and the trees... sucking up the air from the earth and under me'??

Even A B C, it's easy as 1 - 2 - 3 seems better...

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Note, in Monster he says:

HE's a monster, HE's a monster

HE? Who is HE talking about there? Obviously not paparazzi, unless they're all men.

He's describing what haters and the paparazzi think of him "he's a monster".
