Michael - The Great Album Debate

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Even the accent being used on all the songs is proof that it's not Michael Jackson singing.

Yeah, that's absolute proof, and it's not subjective at all.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I've come to the conclusion that it's all irrelevant.

Either it's not Michael Jackson or it's Michael Jackson that's been played with so much that it doesn't sound like Michael Jackson.

So you have 3 not very good tracks that either are not sung by Mike or sung by Mike but don't sound like they're sung by Mike.

Either way, they don't deserve their place on the album. At a push should have been used as B sides as 'conceptual tracks'.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I think at least these songs should have been unveiled better, including Best Of Joy, Hollywood Tonight, Another Day, Hold My Hand, etc.

This should have been all for the fans!

Maybe releasing them one at a time in promotion until the album dropped, giving background information on the songs, etc. so that we're not just left in the dark about them...

The album was just kind of put out there... I hardly remember a website really being used to promote it except when Breaking News streamed with no information about it whatsoever.

Unfortunately, it's never for the fans. Sony is a business entity that exits to realize a profit.

Quoted for truth. Face it, Michael was the one who knew what his fans wanted and hated to let them down, it was practically built into his perfectionist nature. I can definitely say that these songs wouldn't have made it onto his new album, unless he rerecorded the vocals, which there is practically no doubt that he was going to during London... Well, there is no doubt that he was going to record. Basically, SONY wants to make a profit, so they hire people to "complete" MJ's music. Whether they hire the right people or not is dependent on whether we get a good album or not.

... Now back to not being on here.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I remember how excited I was and the big smile I couldn't contain when I heard the Breaking News snippet and the HOO! though(Or I guess it was more like 'OW'?). :D Good times. I was like 'Oh my God, it's really happening.'

The hoo's and hee-hee's are the best part of that song. :D Makes me wanna :beatit:  !

MALACHI TIME:

cause i i want you to stay
i want you to stay so dont dont you walk away

^^actually, i like the snippet streamed during the weekend prior to the streaming of the whole song. i found the intro quite funky.

i don't know. sometime, i wonder whether my strong dislike of breaking news has anything to do with the crazy buildup. the anticipation was just too high. teddy saying the song was great and fans would love it. even that dude from tmz said the song was great.

i set my expectation too high. i expect something spectacular. i kinda expect something like black or white or scream or yrmw. then, reality hit, the song i heard is possibly the worst song that carried michael's name.

am actually listenting to yrmw now. such an underrated song. it's so fun to listen to.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I'm looking for an MJ fan who is a forensic musicologist, who can analyse all the tracks, comparing them to Jason, comparing them to MJ, the accent, everything for free. I would've done that if I was one.

We need a forensic musicologist who is not a MJ fan, because if he/she is a MJ fan, then he/she would be biased.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Good point, Worldwide. Then all the doubters would just say they were just bought off because they aren't really a fan and want money like the Cascio's and Malachi.

You already made an assumption that the result from the analysis performed by independent forensic musicologist is going to be in favor of the Cascios.

Why would doubters say the independent expert's opinion to be biased if the result does not support Sony's claim?

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

They wouldn't. If it supported their claim, they'd say they were right, if it stated in favor of the Cascio's, the same people who asked for it to be done would be like, "This guy is no good. Sony bought him up. It's Jason. No one can convince me otherwise."

Again, this is your pure assumption.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

No, several members have stated that they have no doubt and nothing will convince them otherwise. I'm not assuming anything. Sure, some would be convinced, but those hardcore doubters will NEVER be convinced of anything other than what they want to believe.

It's because we believe in what our ears our telling us. Therefore, we have no doubt.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Explained already a feeled 1000 times.

You don't need demos, of a demo.

You take the best demo take after your session, delete the rest.
And you go on from that saved best demo @ your next session.
No no no no no no no no.

You keep all demos. MJ was meticulous like that. By your reasoning all demos of Billie Jean, Dangerous, The Girl Is Mine...etc etc etc would have been binned long ago.

I'm sorry but it's this kind of twilight zone reasoning that makes me so frustrated with people trying to defend these tracks. When it comes to child abuse allegations or murder, MJ fans give lawyers, people who are paid to make reasoned, logical arguments, a run for their money. The minute people start questioning the legitimacy of songs, all that logic and previous experience and standard practise goes straight out the window.

It's a lot different. Most Michael Jackson fans are going to be trying to prove that Michael Jackson didn't molest children or attempt to kill someone... This case is way different.

Ironically, I was expecting a huge futuristic-sounding comeback single in 2001 "that would shake the foundations of the music industry" - I'm sorry to say I believed the hype (I didn't make that mistake again), and was quite disappointed by quite a reserved stripped-down song. Then, on the 692nd listen, I suddenly loved it. I've never known a song like it. The definition of a grower.

Exactly...and the quest for truth should not be treated any different just because it's uncomfortable.

692? I would say its a grower too but I caught on a little sooner than that

Yup, a grower, that's what it means. when yrmw was released back in 2001, i like it. but, the song didn't have the black or white impact on me. now, i'm madly in love with it. it just moves my feet whenever i listen to it.

there are many michael jackson songs that grow on me. She Drives Me Wild is another one. i don't have enough muscial knowledge to explain it. michael's songs are so rich in texture. the details are so beautifully weaved together. there's never a dull moment. i never get bored. sometime, i discover some components, like a chord or drum beat, string, that i was not aware before.

man, he's no ordinary pop singer. a genius by all definitions.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Truth in the debate thread. Wow!!!

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I can't understand either how anybody can believe it's Michael on the Cascios... but why not just focus on the remaining tracks.

because it's a slap in the face.

OT: yrmw has actually always been one of my favorite songs. i loved it instantly. a grower for me would be "keep the faith"

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Billie Jean, now that's a grower. Is it Malachi on that song? How old is Malachi?

Haha :D

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

By the way, Jason has never denied ANYTHING regarding the songs. He only said "I can not confirm or deny anything at this point".

I'm sorry but he did, through his manager. His manager spoke on his behalf, not his own. It's documented, there's proof for it, where's the proof that Jason said "I can not confirm or deny anything at this point"? There's proof that he said his page had been hacked, in his own words, if Jason can correspond with his manager, and state his page had been hacked, why can't he deny his affliliation with this man? Oh that's right, that's something the hacker said, then immediately after Jason confirmed on his myspace his page was hacked, and hadn't "said any of that", again, in his own words. There's nothing to support that Thad is this big fraud, and doesn't know Jason nor works for him, it just seems many of you are ignoring the fact that he's his manager, and on Jason's behalf, denied any contribution to these records or album, for the sake of continuing the argument.

As far as the "snort" goes, what exactly am I looking for? What I hear in the Cascio songs sounds like a production glitch, I don't hear that in the Malachi comparisons, maybe it's just me, but I don't know what I'm supposed to be hearing. Is it even physically possible for someone to be singing and produce a snort sound like that at the same time?

Ah... the good old days :) - yeah I so loved the snippet too! It sounded like good old MJ. And TBH I even loved the song itself, if only it would be his voice, that just destroys it :(. I do wonder if Michael did contribute quite a lot to the song... IMO the snippet sounded very good.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

P.S. I think we should be satisfied what we got from MJ as long he was there anyway. Maybe we just don't deserve anything but crap for asking for more after his death! Ever thought about that...

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

How do you mean?

putting fake songs on the first posthumous michael jackson album? releasing sub-standard tracks and claiming that they belong to the world's best recording artist, a man who worked tirelessly his whole life to release nothing but perfection? playing with the emotions of a fan base that recently lost the man we love? lying?

i'll say it's a slap in the face. it makes me sick.

and unfortunately, it has kind of marred the other, genuine tracks for me.

anyway, that's why i feel it's a slap in the face. to us. to him.
