Michael - The Great Album Debate

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Also can any of the 'believers' point out where James Porte's lead vocals apparently kick in? Is he singing in his own voice or trying to replicate Michael? Which would be a WORLD away from duetting with Siedah Garret. Which is a ridiculous comparison anyway.

Which words does James Porte 'clearly' sing?

 nobody is comparing Siedah's vocals to anything.

It's just a songs credit example. The point was although she sings all through the song it wasn't credited as a "duet".

this posting without even understanding what is being discussed really makes me think "this is not worth my time and effort".

and do a search there have been threads / posts that listed who sings what before and people argued about it back and forth. and I think one of the most mentioned ones is the the word "jackson"

The ones that are in the booklet :D

Well, has anybody actually clearly heard James Porte sing before? I can't find anything on the guy.

Plus, if some of you are interested, I've announced a new project over at 2000 Watts. It's a CD/DVD set of my tribute show, including some stuff I did early last year and the remixes I've made for my show in the summer: http://www.mjjcommunity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=108875

Why mention Siedah if you weren't making a comparison? What you're claiming is that James Porte was hired to fill out MJ vocals by impersonating him in certain parts. Nothing at all like Siedah's performance.

Are you claiming that James Porte was hired to impersonate Michael? Is that what you're claiming?

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

LOL, James Porte isn't doing any lead vocals on these songs. By that, I mean really singing and not kick in as in "Michael Jackson" in BN.

If only Michael Jackson sang on the whole album... *sigh*

again  and please read what I posted

some lead vocals is supported by James Porte I think. but that doesn't make it "fake". For example "I just can't stop loving you" is mainly credited as MJ song with Siedah Garrett only billed as "featuring". As James Porte is credited , it makes it okay.

as you can see I said that "lead vocals is supported by James Porte". and I then addressed then why it would be okay even though he wasn't credited as "featuring or duet" and giving the example of Siedah (just in regards of credit - see the red bold part).

The rest is further explanation of song credits (differentiation between a duet and featuring) and what is okay or not.

Please either read and understand and respond to my posts or if you are not going to read them ignore them totally.

hit play.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Is it just me, or does the accent on Porte sound a bit like the first verse on "Monster"? Is it possible they somehow joined the voices without giving the "chorus effect"?

I hit play and broke my screen. Who's going to pay the damage now?

okay that made me laugh. I'll give you a kiss then to make it all better :)

accents etc is Bumper's specialty.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

My theory is that it's James Porte singing Jason Malachi's Bigger Man demo & You Don't Have To Go. The voice is very similar. And if this is the case, it proves that James did work with Jason. The background vocals on Jason's songs are also very similar to many of the vocals in the Cascio tracks, I'm just saying. But I can't be 100% sure on this one.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Interesting to finally hear his voice. I can definitely hear him doing backup vocals on these songs.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

One thing I have to ask: There are some on here that claim that lyrics in these songs "They're gunnin' for the money so they fake it", "They wanna see that I fall 'cause I'm Michael Jackson" & "Fakin', fakin' breaking the news" implicate the Cascios guilt. What I don't get is, well...

... Are the Cascios supervillains? Because only monumentally stupid supervillains (well, people like Dr. Eggman) basically TELL the people they swindle that they're swindling them and how they're doing it! If they're not, then these lyrics are probably pure coincidence and are relevant to the song.

... I now hope that someone will make a comic about the evil Dr. Cascio (a character, not the actual people).

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

But They (Sony or Cascios) Gunnin' For The Money So They Fake It (Fake Songs) :tease:

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Michael didn't have a record deal apparently according to sky news:

See from 1:55

God its hard watching that. I remember when i first saw this and i had no doubt in my mind he was going to come back BIG. I was just so excited. He deserved so much success again, but he never got it (atleast not alive). Life can be so unfair :-(

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Anyone else wondered why the Jackson's didn't really do much to stop the album's release if they're so concerned over MJ's legacy?

Because their songs with MJ didn't make the cut lol

Opus None LOL  I kid.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Interesting. Wouldn't that establish a motive for trying to derail the album with talks of fake tracks?

Interesting, only a few pages back i was shot down for discussing motives. We as fans have no motive, and a lot of us think they arn't him.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I know that we have no motives, but I'm honestly tired of people shooting down things Teddy says because of something Taryll said. This proves that Taryll may not be pure in his efforts as a lot of people believe him to be.

No, because they support the 7 real tracks 100%. There is a reason for doubting the Cascio songs - the vocals don't sound enough like Michael Jackson for a Michael Jackson album.

She Was Lovin' Me, a track written/produced by Rooney for Invincible should have absolutely made the cut.
He was at the top of his game back in 2000/2001, having written hits like If You Had My Love, Ain't It Funny, I'm Real and many others for J.Lo. I'm sure this song is no exception. And there is no doubt at all - it must be legit.

I know that we have no motives, but I'm honestly tired of people shooting down things Teddy says because of something Taryll said. This proves that Taryll may not be pure in his efforts as a lot of people believe him to be.

What's interesting is that when Taryll claimed that Teddy Riley also initially said the singer on the Cascio songs isn't Michael (that's also what Cory Rooney said), Riley's response WAS NOT that it wasn't true and that he never said that - he just called Taryll a faggot.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I think the attempts to discredit Teddy are kind of silly.... I mean, Teddy had nothing to do with the Cascio tracks, anyway, he just added his musical touch.

Who cares if Teddy's credible or not? It doesn't have anything to do with the tracks being real or faked. He can offer his opinion but it doesn't make it right, believer or doubter.

Eddie is the real person people should be focusing on. Not Teddy, who said himself that he came in at the very end of the project. He probably heard the songs with the screams already added. He could be fooled, too.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Maybe their track was going to be on the album... Until they decided to have the Cascio tracks on there. While I know better than to assume, it could explain why Taryll singled out the Cascio tracks. Sorry to say, but Teddy just seems more reliable to me. I'd say it isn't impossible that all the things Teddy has said to have done on the song is legit. I've used some editing software and can make tracks sound a tad weird.
