Michael - The Great Album Debate

Yeah well it's time to put away your beer, take away your winning hand.

Michael's important message: Stop drinking and stop gambling!

I wonder if anything leaked yet :S
I am told R2W and FIL has leaked, but not so publicly, if you look good enough, you might find it. Don't ask me though

Yep pretty much everything is out now. All Right has a killer giveaway where Jason drops into his speaking voice for one word. Has to be heard to be believed. Fail to understand why these songs were purchased and on what basis they were purchased when they are so blantantly not Michael.

perhaps you can consider not discussing any possible leaks - given that you know the history how those songs were acquired.

Can't say I heard anything weird like this in the song. ;)

Sorry, just information for anyone who may not know. Post edited :)

Just to be clear - who ultimately purchased the songs, exactly? SONY or the Estate? If it was SONY, I'm under the impression that they bought them just because they were told it's Michael Jackson and - casually listening to it - most of it could fool someone. I personally didn't expect the Estate to make such a mistake if what you say is true, but I believe that a lot of what went into buying the songs was blind faith and good will with who they were buying from, and the blinding promise of 12 complete vocal tracks during a time when he wasn't very vocally productive (at least not in the sense of singing complete vocals).

As far as I know the deal was negotiated by Frank Dileo at the Cascio end and it was John Doelp from Sony who physically went to Eddie Cascio and picked up a hard drive containing the material. But I'm sure the deal was arranged between all three parties. We can never know the full details without seeing the contracts. But I think there was a lot of blind faith, desperation for recent material and sheer incompetence.

Yuck, I heard it. It makes me puke!

Having DiLeo involved would have certainly lent a good amount of creditability to the Cascio's side. Branca obviously holds him in very high esteem. His involvement puzzles me. If he thought it was Michael and trusted his client Porte it's almost understandable. If he knew it wasn't Michael, then he revealed his true colors.

I remember DiLeo saying that Michael had called him while he was with the Cascios and said that he was working on music with Eddie. Now of course, Prince and Paris said that they remember hearing their father working on music with Eddie, but none of the music on the tracks sold to the Estate are them. Which leads me to believe that the actual material is too incomplete to ever see a release.

Look, water has leaked :D

Thriller 25.

Fall In love and Ready 2 Win has leaked on tudou...

So sad.

Fall In Love, Jason sings "you're beautiful, youre wonderful, I love you so" like MJ in heaven Can wait (minus increadible). urgh...

These are very upsetting...

Fall In Love is by far the worst.

There were moments listening where I was like, "What?" Literally cringing at the bizarre total non-Michaelness.

Michael is one of my favorite Michael Jackson albums.

Here's why...out of 7 of the 10 tracks, those are 7 tracks that are much, much stronger than anything on Invincible or HIStory. And the other three songs aren't bad, they just may not be Michael Jackson.

I like quite a few songs on the Michael Album myself, but I find it incredible that anyone would say that "Michael" produced without MJ present was better than his Invincible or HIStory Albums that he did perfect and finish. So just out of curiosity, to see where you are coming from, What songs on the Michael album do you feel is better than his best tracks on Invincible or HIStory ?

Must agree with some members about not blaming the Estate nor Sony though. The thing that confuses me is why would fans buy this album when there are those songs on it, who arent Michaels? Sure, other songs on it may be authentic, but this way it will sell lots of copies which shows those who released this that no matter WHAT they'll bring out, fans will buy it. Im aware that most of you guys are in no need to be told, but seriously what other way would there be to make them stop releasing this stuff? There will always be one in the circle who will be laughed at.

yumm! an apple juice faucet! :D

Eddie: "I was there pushing the buttons, he was there directing..."

Best Of Joy, Another Day, Hollywood Tonight, Behind The Mask, Hold My Hand

All better than anything that was on the two albums before it.

The seven legitimate songs on the Michael album are fantastic in my opinion. The instrumentation on Teddy's production of Hollywood Tonight interests me more than that present in the demo, and Best of Joy is now one of my all time favorite Michael songs.
