Michael Jackson: The Experience - Discussion News And Updates Thread

When someone who has the Wii version plays with the PS3 version, let me know if there's a big difference in the two. I currently have the Wii version, and the game is okay, but the Wii as a system isn't up to par as the PS3 (graphics, accuracy, etc).

^Nope, and neither is Stranger In Moscow and I Just Cant Stop Loving You. I have it on Kinect, its a good game, but no effort has been put in whatsoever to the extra features, Disappointed in that regard...

Graphics:Great
Accuracy:Brilliant
When the songs are on Hard they really are HARD!

I've finally played all of the songs for Kinect. There are a handful of songs I simply refuse to ever do again just because of the randomness of the choreography. Its just very frustrating for me. When I played Speed Demon, I was expecting to "battle" or at least dance along with Spike...nope, hes not in the game at all. Very disappointing and a huge missed opportunity on the kinect's abilities. Imagine having Spike do some moves and then you have to do what he did...it would have been a great little feature.

It's a nice game to have on hand to pop in every now and then...but it certainly isn't something I'll come back to years (even months) from now. If they do a much better job of utilizing the Kinect (both in MJ's routines as well as tracking in both sound and dance), and create a sequel I'll check it out. But I have a tough time believing there will be DLC so this will likely be it. I just wish...WISH this would have been more like Dance Central...sigh. Is MJTE a fun game? Sure it is. It is also very frustrating because of what could have and should have been...especially when you compare it to an already established and well received product. It's like making a Military game and copying things off of Call of Duty because that is what is popular...but not copying what matters (the game play).

Oh someone mentioned TDCAU? That song has a lot of moves from the live performances...including those saw in This Is It. It's a lot of stuff the backup dancers would do.

The Kinect version could've used quite a bit more polish. I think the projection technology could've been improved because I hardly see any of my features - such as my face - on the screen, though that could be because of the daylight messing up the sensor. Plus some songs (Like "Smooth Criminal" Master Performance) are impossible! You have to get everything right and not miss once. Plus, you can't practice that mode, which is really bad. But they did do a good job overall, though.

I agree. I wish I could SEE myself. The technology is fairly new and it is indeed impressive...but it is so hard to see yourself considering where you have to stand. This is why a replay feature would have been amazing.

The problem is 1) this was a multi-platform game (the biggest problem why not one version of the game IMO is amazing) and 2) MJ's moves are precise. Even toned down, there are fine-details to some of the moves that is just not fully recognized for whatever reason. I would personally rather be told I'm doing things wrong than being told I'm doing "ok" or whatever. There are so many instances where I have just danced and fulled around and did what I wanted...and still got "Perfects".

Give me a reason to want to keep playing or get better. Instead, other than trying to beat your scores you're just playing the game just to have "fun". Which "fun" is hard when there are these flaws in gameplay. There is essentially no reward or punishment for doing right or wrong in the game and I think that is a huge flaw. That stems to the singing aspect as well.

I've said a lot of negative but I do LOVE playing some of the tracks like Billie Jean, Dirty Diana, and most of the singing only tracks. I must say though that I was soooo disappointined when doing "Will You Be There"...because they took out the spoken word at the end!! Wow, that blew my mind. Things like that just makes me enjoy the game even less because the moment I would ignore one thing there would be something else.

I have the Wii version and currently have the the PS3 version rented. The actual dancing is almost identical, I can get 5 stars on every song on the Wii but on the ps3 im currently only getting about 3 but im getting better, I guess i just have to work out the best way to hold the controller like i did on the Wii when I first got it. There are alot of extra stuff on the PS3 version though, 3 new tracks, the singing feature which is great, like a Michael edition of singstar, and if you have lots of people you can have two dancing and two singing and its great fun!
It also takes photos and videos of you while you dance which are great fun to look back at and you can save them all to your ps3.
It also has a gallery feature not in the wii version, which is just a collection of images and information about his awards and achievements etc.
Overall I would say its definately a massive improvement over the Wii version, but if your happy with the wii one i don't know whether its worth you paying full price for it, maybe wait until its abit cheaper (ps3 games go down in price pretty quick these days) if you don't know if the extra features are worth it.

Wow, this is really bad.

BTW as you mentioned BJ is fun, does at least this song have Michael's correct choreography?

I agree 100% My exact thoughts on the Kinect version...

seems like the game is a pain in the a..., is this true? I bought the Xbox 360 for it but returned the game sealed after I read so much negative things about it.

why would you do something like that? If you bothered to pick it up..why not see for yourself what it's all about.

Just peculiar ...IMHO.

I got all versions.. Not a big fan of the kinect at all, but i LOVE LOVE LOVE the WII version.. :):)

Damn, that Wii looks awesome! I wish I had those decals... Plus, I will get all versions eventually... When the price goes down.

is that a sticker (MJ experience) on the Wii? Where can I order it?

Come on, it cost 70 Euro (Coll. Edition), which is over 100 US $!
Instead I bought the Wii with the game, which only cost me 140 Euro overall.

Yeah its a specially designed sticker for the WII.. I cant remember where i got it but i have 2 spare ones if you'd like me to send you one.. I dont need them there pretty hard to get off the machine anyway lol :):)

I'm so jealous!!!!!

I've finally got the living room set up to project me in the game, and it's so great! Though my only giant complaint is that the "Ghosts" choreography isn't that good, the moves are hard to distinguish in said song and it seems to miss you performing certain moves, again in that song.

:wild: Now THAT is cool! Your Wii!

I have the Experience on both the Wii and the Kinect, but I have to admit, I like it on the Wii better ...They're both good, though...

@mjbusterdion2009: Did you get those in ONM, by any chance?

I have the Experience on both the Wii and the Kinect, but I have to admit, I like it on the Wii better ...
Can you elaborate why? Is it also because you can't see Michael in the Kinect version? That's why I prefered Wii...

ONM is the Official Nintendo Magazine. They typically have things like console decorations as an item inside.

I think the Kinect and the Wii versions go hand-in-hand to make an overall good experience. Some choreography are better in one version than the other, the Wii version focuses more on the films while the Kinect version focuses more on live performances. I'm not sure which one I like better, though... I just wish the Wii version had those extra songs.

I won the Experience game for the Wii (also won the Vision boxset), but don't have a Wii haha. I'm now going through all my friends to see which of the fun ones have one and are worthy of playing it. :D

Mostly it's because I feel there's more dancing in the Wii version...It seems to stay a little truer to Michael's choreography...

does anyone know how much the kinect version sold, or does it have a sales chart like the wii version, i know the wii version alone as of now sold 2.52 million

p.s. lots of casual fans who have a blast playing it, they don't notice is some of the moves aren't mj related like the big mj fans notice lol but its all about having fun

I have a developer kit Xbox 360. Today going through the content folders I see there are strings where the games searches for additional files "DLC".

Let's keep our fingers crossed!
