Memorial Tribute for Michael in Rome *Update* Tribute Cancelled Post 82

The press release on the website is unfair and ridiculous.
"....there wasn't a response from Italian public"
..."Unfortunately we stumbled over ambiguous people who undermined the credibility of the Tribute and have wrongfully used Michael's name in the past...."
So now it's the fans to blame for not wanting to put their money in an event co-organized and publicized by impostors? ARE YOU INSANE? :ranting
Messrs “Worldlive Entertainment”, I'd like to inform you that you would've had a sold-out stadium if you had done your homework and checked the people you got into business with. And btw, it's not anybody's fault but yours if you neither did or said anything when these "people" released false statements to the press so don't put this failure on the fans' shoulders. :mat:
As a matter of fact people in Rome and in the rest of Italy will tribute Michael by getting together in parks and squares, so the bottom line here is not the scarce enthusiasm of the Italian fans but rather your scarce competence!

lol no one is blaming Italian fans for being smart enough and avoid this bogus...fans didn't buy tickets because it looked like a big fail from the start!

Indeed.
congratulations to fans for thinking twice and stop these people from cashing on them :clapping:

Our country can't organize nothing...
wrong.
I've seen close to 100 amazing concerts and so far a fiasco like this only happened this time because the wrong ppl were involved..the likes of oxman and the jacksons ,their greed for a quick buck and total lack of managment skills are to blame not our country..nor us fans...

I was just about to object, holy moly... Ever sat in Verona and watched grand opera that makes you think, MJ and Verdi, I've seen it all and can now go peacefully?

Wouldn't say that...granted, if given the choice between Lufthansa and Alitalia, I'd chose Lufthansa hands down, but ya know, I wouldn't exactly beat down on a particular country because a tribute concert didn't take place.

In this particular case: SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE.

well said.

The organizers are not good people.
One organizer, says that she calls and see on webcam Michael everyday and she says that Michael is alive but he never come back.
This are stupid people, and gives bad image of italians, like me.

Yeah, not to worry. You can be a jerk no matter where your passport was issued. These people obviously have issues to proclaim all this nonsense to the world. I don't think anybody has a problem with Italy, just a problem with these clowns. I don't care if they are Italian, French or American...

Yeah I attended gigs in Verona many times actually...(OT:it's my fav place lol!)
what bothers me is that every country has its share of problems and blaming Italy as a whole because of a ill fated tribute supported by vultures like oxman is unfair,it's like blaming USA because of the trials M had to face or blaming UK because of Bashir....we did nothing wrong, indeed we made them fail proving we are not fools who buy whatever crap has MJ name on.

naaaa, don't feel like that.
Italian fans were wise to know follow their mess wit this thing.
And if it was about countries or cities, what about Vienna? What about Gary and its fanvention? What about London with its sooo mega huge tribute, according to Jermain after Vienna failed?

you see?
it's not the country, it's the people behind these things. They are the greedy ones to blame.

Someone like Kenny needs to organise a tribute to Michael, he's been a great friend of Michael's and knows how to put on a show that Michael would love in a huge venue. All profits should go to childrens charities-a tribute going towards something that Michael would have wanted. Not for Jermaine and co to get a quick buck for their 'foundation' or whatever.

The organizers are and it ticks me off.

I didn't mean to imply people are blaming Italy for this mess.

Edit bc Modulation Alert mentioned Verona and now I'm thinking about how great it would have been to see a tribute in the Arena. An official one, organized by the Estate.

Embarrassing.

And that's before the whole 'Randy to the Rescue' episode.

yeah I know,it was not direct at you but in general
well they said the truth..public were not interested and since everything done by the estate has been a commercial success they can only blame their poor decisions and bad taste.numbers speak the truth.

Verona would be magic....even if it's smaller than san siro or stadio olimpico it's simply breath-taking and more intimate!we can only hope and maybe suggest it!

:clapping::clapping::clapping: Exactly!

These failed tributes shouldn't be taken as an indicator of MJ's popularity. When you have incompetent & money hungry folks organizing these huge events..well, it's bond to fail.

And I can't say how happy I am that Brian Oxman won't get to do his powerpoint presentation.

some fans wanted to see Kenny dead, so i don't think he is ready to do something like this in recent years maybe few years later or with MJ's kids particepation.

anyway, i call these cancelltions "heavens justice" !

Re: Cancelled the tribute in Rome, Italia

Sorry i translate this with Google Translator

Annulled by the Entertainment Worldlive "Michael Jackson's Memorial Tribute" Stadio Olimpico in Rome on 25 June 3500 due to poor advance ticket sales (on 82mila seats available). "The significance of the charges went beyond the fact of seeing artists (more or less famous in our country) to perform, - reads the press -. The real meaning was to honor Michael, but the public response Italian there was" .

"Our company has stumbled, too, unfortunately, 'ambiguous characters' that have undermined the credibility of the tax which, in the past, have become involved in actions against fans unclear Italian clubs, using the wrong name Michael or pretending to event organizers (never realized). This of Rome could be a good revenge for all. The few thousand tickets sold are not even sufficient to attain the minimum required by the public involved in some star tribute to make their performance .

"The security purchased in advance - concluded Worldlive Entertainment - will be reimbursed by the same outlets no later than June 30, 2010. For their full face value including booking fee. For more information www.mjmtribute.com - Tel 06.97304159

I'm italian and i'm very sad that this tribute is cancelled, but i'm angry too because they used Michael's name to be rich.
(sorry for my bad bad bad english)

What a surprise, typical from them now...

Can anyone explain the significance of: "Questo di Roma poteva essere una bella rivincita per tutti”. which translates as "This of Rome could be a nice revenge for all ".

Whose revenge? Revenge for what? The tribute could have been a revenge? Are they implying the tribute was sabotaged?

Anybody? Aiuto!

Uhm, that part confused me as well, but maybe they meant "rivincita" as "redemption" (riscatto), to demonstrate how strong is Michael's presence and fame despite all the bad press etc. I'm not sure though...

Is anyone suprised, this is how lawsuits happen. If only they can all unite and get on the same page. The problem with big families is that there are so many opinions, somone always wants to do something differently. Michael deserves a grand tribute concert with the most respected artists and I know one day he'll get it.

yes...a good chance to unite all italian fans (in their opinion)

I think so too. When his kids are older. They are his legacy and will be the driving force for a proper tribute.

Annie, I so agree with this! I have said this before to others.
It is embarrassing to Michael's memory and legacy to see a fiasco such as this Rome tribute and the fail of Jermaine in Austria last year. No matter what the truth is, I am sure there will be those who use this to denigrate Michael in some way.
I never understood why in the world, Oxman would have been allowed to give an hour long presentation anyway. It struck me as being fairly self-serving. Anyway I'm pretty sure most Michael fans have certain ideas about him...Just another "ambiguous person"...

I'm curious about something else. This was going to be in Rome, why weren't there any Italian performers scheduled. Not invited? Not interested? Too smart to get involved? At any rate, I don't remember seeing any listed.
