CNN Update

AEG Live lead lawyer Marvin Putnam's cross-examination of Prince lasted just 25 minutes. It centered on trying to discredit his testimony about Phillips' visit to his home and about cash payments that Prince said his father gave Murray at times.
Prince stood by his story about the Phillips and Murray encounter, although he conceded it could have been two nights before his father's death and not the last night.
The toll of losing their father
Prince's testimony gave Jackson lawyers a chance to show jurors the emotional toll suffered by Jackson's children, which they would have to put a dollar figure on if they conclude AEG Live is liable in their father's death.
"I can't sleep at night," Prince said. "I have a hard time sleeping." The death left him "emotionally distant from a lot of people" for a while, he said.
He's missed sharing with his father "the first day of going to school, having the first girlfriend, being able to drive," Prince testified.
While Paris Jackson's suicide attempt and hospitalization was not brought up in court -- and it is unclear if jurors learned about it in the news -- Prince did speak about his sister.
"I think out of all of my siblings she was probably hit the hardest because she was my dad's princess," he said.
Prince said the questioning of Paris by AEG Live lawyers over two days in March was painful for her. "She had some problems before, after and, I assume, during," he said.
"She definitely is dealing with it in her own way," her brother said.
Paris, who was 11 when her father died, is not available to testify in person in court because she is hospitalized for psychiatric treatment.
While he and his sister no longer want to celebrate birthdays because "it's not the same without" their father, Blanket, now 11, does, Prince said.
"Right now, I don't know if Blanket realizes what he lost," he said. "He was so young. He is still growing up just like I am and he doesn't have a father to guide him."

Jurors watched a home video of Michael Jackson questioning his three children about how they planned "to change the world" when they grow up.
Prince testified that the video was made at Christmas.
"What's Christmas mean?" Jackson is heard asking his children.
"Love," Blanket responded.
"Who's Blanket going to be to change this world?" Jackson asked.
"I don't know," Blanket, who appeared to be about 5 at the time, answered.
"What does Paris want to do? Be honest search your heart," Jackson said.
"Help the poor," she answered. Paris also said she would like to be a gymnast.
Prince told his father he aspired to be a movie director and architect because he liked "making things."

PRINCE JACKSON
Conrad Murray Told Us
'SORRY KIDS. DAD'S DEAD.'
BREAKING NEWS
Prince Jackson just testified ... Dr. Conrad Murray informed them of Michael Jackson's passing by glibly announcing, "Sorry kids. Dad's dead."

Prince has taken the stand in the Jackson family's wrongful death lawsuit against AEG, saying all he and his siblings could do was cry after hearing the news.

Prince said he recalled being in the sitting room of the Holmby Hills mansion when his father went into cardiac arrest on June 25th, 2009. Prince said he heard screams and Murray summoned him upstairs, where Prince saw his father "half hanging out of the bed" while Murray administered CPR.

He said Paris was hit the hardest by her dad's death, screaming that she "wanted her daddy" while Murray was trying to resuscitate him.

Prince said, "She was my dad's princess. She definitely is dealing with [his death] in her own way."

NEWS/ Prince Jackson Recalls Last Time He Saw His Father Alive While Testifying in Michael Jackson Wrongful Death Trial
by Peter Gicas and Claudia Rosenbaum Today 12:21 PM PDT

CBS
Michael Joseph "Prince" Jackson took the stand on Wednesday to testify in the wrongful death trial against AEG Live and recalled the last time he saw his father, Michael Jackson, alive.
"My dad was hanging halfway off the bed and his eyes were rolling back in his head," said 16-year-old Prince. "[Dr. Conrad] Murray was doing CPR. My sister was screaming the whole time saying she wants her daddy. I was waiting at the bottom of the stairs crying, waiting to go to the hospital."
Prince said he tried to calm his sister, Paris, at the hospital, telling her "angels were watching over us." Prince said he was optimistic, but was soon informed that his father had passed away from a heart attack.
NEWS: Michael Jackson's kids, four years after dad's death

Prince spoke fondly about his father throughout his testimony.
"He always said you should give back to the community and to give back as much as you can," Prince said. "I got my desire to give back from my father." Prince added that his dad always told him "everything is a learning experience...always learn from your experience."
What's more, Prince noted he got his work ethic from the late pop star, stating, "If he wasn't working, he got depressed."
NEWS: Katherine and T.J. Jackson will continue to being coguardians of Michael Jackson's children
Prince insisted he had no idea growing up his dad was such a music legend until he saw a video of one of his concerts with girls crying and being carried out on stretchers.
"We always listened to his music, but we didn't know he was famous," he said.
Upon Michael's death, "we had our ways of dealing with it. [Paris] is having a hard time right now," said Prince of his sister, who is on the mend after an alleged suicide attempt earlier this month.
Speaking of Paris, the 15-year-old recently testified herself via a video deposition shot several months ago.
The wrongful death case was brought on by Katherine Jackson, on behalf of her son's estate, against promoter AEG Live. The Jackson matriarch claims AEG negligently handled her son's medical care by hiring Dr. Murray and therefore played a role in his death from a propofol overdose.

Prince Jackson testified Wednesday that when he arrived at the hospital where his father had been rushed, the pop singer’s personal physician met him and his siblings."Sorry kids. Dad's dead," he said Dr. Conrad Murray told them."We just cried," the performer's son said.

FULL COVERAGE: AEG wrongful death trial

During 90 minutes of testimony, Prince Jackson, the entertainer’s eldest child and the first family member to testify in a wrongful death suit filed by his grandmother and siblings, revealed details of his life, which was closely guarded while his father was alive for fear of papparazzi.

Prince, who now lives with his grandmother, said he just finished his sophomore year at the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, where he is a member of the National Honor Society. He said he makes jewelry, does martial arts and is part of the school's robotics team. He said he wants to go to USC to study film, business or mechanical engineering.

Prince Jackson also talked about life with his famous father, living at the Neverland compound in Santa Barbara County, Ireland, Paris, Bahrain and Las Vegas. His attorneys showed home movies and photos of Neverland, which Prince called "a very homey place."

He said the children were only allowed to go to the zoo and ride the Ferris wheel on special occasions. "My dad wanted us to remain humble," he said. Posted around the compound, he said, were messages and poems from their father.“When children play, tyrants cry, there is nothing to say,” said one.

Prince Jackson said he would spend six days in school, either with his father or a tutor, learning about other cultures and religions. His father would ask them how they were doing in school and what they were doing “to better the world.”

His father, he testified, made all of them wear masks in public “so no one would know what we looked like so if we went out without him we could have a normal childhood.”

Prince said he's now followed all the time.

"So I know why he did it. "

Prince Jackson Details Life with Michael Jackson

June 27, 2013

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic
For the first time ever, Prince Jackson, the oldest child of the late Michael Jackson, took the stand today to testify in his family's wrongful death suit against AEG Live. During his testimony, the 16-year-old revealed personal details of his life, told stories about what it was like to grow up with the Prince of Pop, and gave chilling details about the day Jackson died four years ago.

Prince's life today seems fairly standard
He may have grown up as the son of a superstar, but today Prince is a typical high school student in Sherman Oaks, Calif. Having just finished his sophomore year (with a 3.68 GPA!), the National Honor Society member is taking U.S. history in summer school. He's also involved in several extracurricular activities, including baseball, basketball and the robotics club. Outside school, he practices martial arts and makes jewelry.

Prince is an aspiring filmmaker
"My dad taught me everything was a learning experience," he told the jury, adding that he and his father wrote screenplays together and watched movies without sound to study the visual components of filmmaking. And it made an impact: Now he hopes to go to the University of Southern California and major either in film, mechanical science or business. (He added that, unlike his father, he doesn't have the ability to sing or play instruments.)

Jackson always taught his kids to give back
Prince said that his father always taught him to give back to the community as much as possible, and the message stuck. While his school requires him to do community service, Prince puts in more hours than required with a children's hospital program in L.A. called Literally Healing. He also reads to children in the cancer ward. "Dad wanted us to remain humble," he said.

Prince understands why he wore masks as a kid
Critics slammed Michael Jackson for having his children wear masks in public, but Prince explained that it was to help protect their privacy. (At the time, did he know how famous his dad really was? No, he said, but he figured it out when fans screamed and had to be carried out on stretchers.) Still, he admitted, it was annoying to have feathers in his face!

Michael Jackson stressed the importance of school
Prince, Paris and Blanket Jackson moved around a lot (Prince said they visited Bahrain, Aspen, New York and Las Vegas because their dad couldn't be away from them), but their dad always made sure they had tutors and were learning about different cultures. Their nanny, Grace Rwaramba, was often with them. When asked about recently released quotes from Paris's March deposition, in which she slammed Rwaramba as "creepy," Prince simply responded, that people deal with things in different ways. He added that Paris was with Grace recently.

Jackson made sacrifices for his kids, large and small
Like every parent, Jackson did things to make his children happy, but one big sacrifice came in the form of the family's chocolate lab, Kenya. Prince said that he let the kids have a pet, despite the fact that he was afraid of dogs.

Jackson accused AEG execs of trying to kill him
Prince said his dad was excited about his upcoming tour, produced by AEG Live, as was he, as he'd only seen him perform once. However, he said his dad would come home from rehearsals upset with AEG's CEO, Randy Phillips, and his former manager, Dr. Tohme Tohme. "He would cry," Prince said. "He would say, 'They're going to kill me. They're going to kill me.'" Once, the singer became so enraged that he cursed out Tohme, Prince added. "[And] he never fought. He was too kind to fight," he said. Prince also added that he was frightened of Phillips, who often spoke to Dr. Conrad Murray to in "hushed whispers."

Murray treated the Jackson children
Two years ago, Dr. Conrad Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson, but in today's testimony, Prince said he treated Jackson's three children too. "He would come over and treat us for colds," Jackson said. He also added that he saw Murray give his dad injections, and that his dad felt compassion for Murray, whom Jackson didn't believe was being paid enough by AEG. In fact, he'd sometimes give Prince hundreds of dollars to give to the doctor.

Prince thought his dad was healthy, but didn't think he ate enough
Despite the fact that his father had a team of doctors, Prince thought his dad was healthy. However, he didn't think he ate enough, and described him as very skinny and malnourished. He also explained that his dad would feel cold in the summer and hot other times. His body temperature seemed to fluctuate, the teen said.

Dr. Conrad Murray told Prince that Michael died of a heart attack
Though Dr. Murray was convicted of giving Jackson a lethal dose of medicine, Prince said that the physician told him at first that his father died of a heart attack.

LOS ANGELES | Wed Jun 26, 2013 5:55pm EDT
(Reuters) - Michael Jackson's eldest son testified on Wednesday in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by his family against AEG Live that the late pop star was unhappy with the concert promoter in the run-up to his "This Is It" concert series in 2009.

Prince Jackson, 16, said he saw his father often get upset on the phone with AEG Live Chief Executive Officer Randy Phillips, but was unable to stand up for himself in disagreements.

"He would get off the phone, he would cry sometimes," Prince told jurors in a Los Angeles courtroom about his father. "He would say, 'They're gonna kill me. They're gonna kill me.' ... He was like my grandma. He was too kind to fight anybody."

Small parts of a video recording of Prince and younger sister Paris' deposition recorded months earlier had been played in court last week, but Prince was the first Jackson family member to testify in person at the trial.

Prince, who took the stand four years and one day after his father's death, was 12 when Jackson died at age 50 in Los Angeles from an overdose of surgical anesthetic propofol ahead of a series of comeback concerts in London in 2009.

The "Thriller" singer's mother, Katherine, is suing privately held AEG Live, which was promoting Jackson's "This Is It" concerts, for negligence in hiring Dr. Conrad Murray as his personal physician.

Murray was caring for the singer as he prepared for the shows and was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 for administering the propofol that killed Jackson.

Prince, wearing a dark suit and tie, showed little emotion while testifying until he described his father's death, which was the first time any of Jackson's children have spoken publicly about it.

The teenager said he and his two younger siblings - sister Paris and brother Prince Michael II, also known as Blanket - were at their rented Los Angeles home when they heard a scream from the home's second level.

"I ran upstairs and I saw Dr. Conrad doing CPR on my dad on the bed," he said. "My dad was hanging halfway off the bed, and his eyes were rolled back in his head."

He added: "My sister was screaming the whole time, saying she wants her daddy. I was waiting at the bottom of the stairs, crying, waiting for the ambulance."

'IT HURT A LOT'

Prince, his voice cracking with emotion, said Murray told them in a hospital waiting room that Jackson had a heart attack.

"Sorry kids, your dad's dead," Prince remembered Murray telling him.

AEG Live has said it did not hire or supervise Murray and argues that Jackson had prescription drug and addiction problems for years before entering into any agreement with the company.

AEG Live also has said they could not have foreseen that Murray posed a danger to Jackson.

Katherine Jackson, 83, along with the singer's three children are listed as plaintiffs in the case. The trial began in late April and is expected to last for another month.

Earlier witnesses for the plaintiff have testified that Jackson had grown so weak he had difficulty executing dance moves and recalling song lyrics, and that Murray's monthly salary from AEG Live would be a conflict of interest in his care of the singer.

Prince also testified that Jackson's death has taken an emotional toll on the children.

"I have a hard time sleeping," the teen said. "I became emotionally distant from a lot of people."

Paris, 15, who has been hospitalized after an apparent suicide attempt earlier this month, has taken the loss of her father the hardest, Prince said.

"I think out of all of our siblings, she was probably hit the hardest because she was my dad's princess," he said. "It hurt a lot and she definitely is dealing with it in her own way."

Michael Jackson's son tears up in court as he recalls dad's death
Maria Elena FernandezTODAY

Prince Jackson attends a concert to remember his late father, Michael Jackson, in Wales in 2012.
Michael Jackson's 16-year-old son's bloodshot eyes welled up with tears Wednesday when he told a Los Angeles jury that when his father died in a hospital emergency room four years ago, the singer's personal physician simply turned to Jackson's three children and said, "Sorry, kids, Dad's dead."

Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., known as Prince, was the first member of the Jackson family to take the stand in the Los Angeles Superior Court wrongful death and negligence suit that his grandmother filed against concert promoter AEG Live. At the time of his death, Jackson, 50, was in the middle of rehearsals for his "This is It" comeback tour in London. The lawsuit alleges that AEG was responsible for hiring Dr. Conrad Murray, who was convicted in 2011 of involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death, as Jackson's doctor.

Jackson's eldest son remained composed as he spoke of the special relationship he and his siblings had with their father and described in detail the confusing days before the King of Pop died, and the impact of his death on the lives of his children.

"It will never be the same," said the teen who lives with his grandmother, a cousin, and siblings in Calabasas, Calif. He talked about how challenging life has been for his 15-year-old sister, Paris, who is recovering in a Los Angeles hospital after a suicide attempt on June 5. He said his 11-year-old brother, Prince Michael Jackson, known as Blanket, "is so young he doesn't realize what he lost" and that he and Paris no longer celebrate their birthdays.

"She was hit the hardest," he said. "She was my dad's princess. She is definitely dealing with it in her own way."

In telling stories about his life, Prince made himself sound like any other teenager. He just completed his sophomore year of private high school, and is currently taking a U.S. history class in summer school. He is an honor student, has played football and basketball, and takes martial arts. He also loves to build robots and volunteers reading books to sick children.

He can't sing and he can't play an instrument, he noted, and added that his father suggested he could become an actor. But he never knew how famous his father was until he was gone.

"We always listened to his music but we didn't know he was famous," Prince said. His father made the children wear protective masks when they were out so they wouldn't be recognized.

"When I was little, the masks were annoying," he said. "It was hot and the feathers were always in my face but now that I'm older, I understand why he did it."

Prince Jackson only saw his father perform live once. He said his dad was "very excited about the concert because we would get to see him perform." But his father wished he had more time to rehearse, and after phone calls with "AEG people," usually chief executive officer Randy Phillips, "Prince said his dad would be in tears saying, 'They're gonna kill me. They're gonna kill me."

The teen recalled that while preparing for the 2009 tour, his father would sometimes come down the stairs and be "freezing cold" and "not strong enough." Jackson looked "malnourished," his son said.

On the day of his father's death, Prince Jackson testified that the family chef screamed at him that Murray wanted him upstairs. No employees, except for Murray, were allowed upstairs.

"My dad was hanging halfway off the bed and his eyes were rolling back in his head," he testified. "Murray was doing CPR. My sister was screaming the whole time saying she wants her daddy. I was waiting at the bottom of the stairs crying." When they got to the hospital, he told his sister, "Angels were watching over us," and tried to remain optimistic, but then Murray delivered the news that their father had suffered a heart attack.

The teen testified that he sometimes gave money to "Dr. Conrad" as instructed by his father because Murray would not take payments from Jackson himself and AEG would not pay him. "He didn't always take the cash and if he did, he only took a portion."

"He was supposed to make my dad healthy," he said.

Prince Jackson testified that the siblings are doing the best they can without their father, and that he missses him "a lot every day."

Jackson said tour would 'kill' him, son testifies
By Romain Raynaldy (AFP) – 55 minutes ago
LOS ANGELES — An exhausted Michael Jackson warned that tour promoters AEG Live were going to "kill" him as he rehearsed for a marathon concert tour shortly before his death, his son Prince testified Wednesday.
The 16-year-old also recounted the harrowing scenes on the day Jackson died in 2009, recalling how his younger sister Paris was "screaming" as doctor Conrad Murray was trying to revive her father.
"He just wished he had more time for rehearsals," he told the wrongful death trial, in which the Jackson family accuses AEG Live of negligently hiring Murray to care for the star for his doomed "This Is It" shows.
Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 for having given Jackson an overdose of the anesthetic propofol, to help him cope with chronic insomnia as he rehearsed for the series of 50 planned London shows.
Previous testimony at the manslaughter trial, and at the current civil case, has heard details of how the self-styled King of Pop's state of health deteriorated rapidly in the months before his death.
On Wednesday his son Prince said Jackson was upset on the phone "a lot of time," most of the time with AEG Live chief Randy Phillips.
"He would cry sometimes. He said: 'They're gonna kill me, they're gonna kill me.'" Asked who he was talking about, he said: "People in AEG, Randy Phillips."
The teenager was dressed in a dark suit and tie, with long hair brushed behind his ears. He appeared reasonably relaxed, smiling as some videos and photos of the family were shown in court.
The 16-year-old told how Murray acted as the family doctor, treating the children for minor ailments.
In the months before his death Murray "would come every day, except Sunday night," he said, adding that: "I saw him give my father IVs (intravenous drips) of clear liquid.... I saw IV holders and oxygen tanks" in his bedroom, he said.
Jackson, the highest-profile witness to testify since the civil trial started in late April, recalled June 25, 2009, the day his father died at his rented Holmby Hills mansion outside Los Angeles.
"I was downstairs in the sitting room. I heard screaming usptairs. I saw Dr Conrad, (personal chef) Kai (Chase) looked nervous and said 'Dr Murray wants you upstairs.'
"I ran upstairs and I saw Dr Murray doing CPR on my dad. Dr Murray was screaming while doing CPR. Then my sister came upstairs. She was screaming all the time saying she wants her dad," he added.
Appearing to fight back tears, he recalled how the children followed the ambulance which took Jackson to hospital, in a separate car.
"My dad always told us that angels were looking after him.
At the hospital, "Dr Murray said 'Sorry kids, dad is dead. We just cried," he told the jury.
Jackson's daughter Paris was also listed before the AEG trial as among witnesses due to be called. But it is now thought unlikely she will testify, after she was hospitalized earlier this month following a suicide attempt.
Prince Jackson's testimony came a day after the fourth anniversary of their father's death -- marked by fans who gathered at his mausoleum in the Forest Lawn celebrity ceremony near Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES — Michael Jackson’s eldest son testified Wednesday that during rehearsals for Jackson’s anticipated “This Is It” comeback tour, his father told him, “They’re going to kill me, they’re going to kill me.’”

Prince Michael Jackson testified Wednesday.

He testified his father would sometimes get upset after receiving phone calls from AEG Live Chief Executive Randy Phillips, or Tohme Tohme, his sometime manager.

“He would get off the phone, he would cry sometimes,” Prince Jackson said.

"We have someone, but it's just not the same," Prince said. Panish: Do you miss your dad a lot? Prince: Yes

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts3m
Panish finished his questioning. Marvin Putnam, attorney for AEG, did the cross examination.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 47m
"I don't think Dr. Murray wanted to take the money from my dad, he felt bad," Prince said.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 46m

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 44m
Prince said there was a time in 2009 no one was allowed to go upstairs. Only Dr. Murray could.

Prince testified that not even the housekeeper was allowed to go upstairs.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 43m
Prince said that when Cherilyn Lee was treating MJ, she would do it in the open, there was no door to lock.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 42m
He said when Dr. Murray started, he also did it in the open.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 42m
Prince said he learned MJ's bedroom door was locked when he was playing hide and go seek and couldn't get in.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 42m
As to Dr. Tohme, Prince said he knew him for about 3 years. He said he never regularly saw him, though.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 41m

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 39m

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 34m
Prince's testimony ended at lunch hour. Everyone was surprised it took only a couple of hours. Attorneys expected to last longer.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 34m
After lunch, Jackson's attorney played video deposition of AEG Inc. CEO and president Tim Leiweke.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 33m
Leiweke was the highest employee in the company in 2009. He said they have 130 different companies, 7-8 divisions within AEG.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 33m
Kevin Boyle: Are you aware the LA Kings have a team physician?
Leiweke: I would assume we do

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 32m
"I'm not sure who hires the doctors for the Kings," Leiweke said.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 32m
Boyle: Do the doctors work for the team or for the players?
Leiweke: I'm not sure

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 32m
Leiweke said he didn't remember the email Phillips sent him saying "MJ is locked in his room drunk and despondent."

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 32m
"I got a call from Randy Phillips about the press conference," Leiweke staid. However, he insisted he didn't remember the email.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 31m
"I said that five times, is that good enough?" Leiweke responded.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 31m
Leiweke said Phillips called to say Michael had a hangover, they were late to get to the press conference and Randy was wound up.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 30m
A subsequent conversation, everyone had calmed down, Leiweke said. "He was informing me that the press conference was going to be delayed"

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 30m
Leiweke said he was in an important meeting and asked Phillips to fill him in later.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 30m
"I knew Randy had production costs issues," Leiweke said. Leiweke didn't remember the exact number they had overspent.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 29m
Leiweke didn't remember a specific board meeting where Phillips Anschutz was present and the tour budget was the sole topic.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 29m
Leiweke said he met Dr. Tohme once or twice in passing. He said he didn't remember ever having a meeting with Dr. Tohme about MJ.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 29m
"I remember it was an expensive commitment he as asking us to make," Leiweke said about the This Is It tour.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 27m
"We wanted to make sure that he was healthy," Leiweke said. "I believe our folks had a medical for the purpose of MJ and his health."

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 27m
Boyle: Did you ever refer to Mr. Anschutz as paranoid scrooge?
Leiweke: I don't remember any specific conversation

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 26m
Boyle asked if Mr. Anschutz was concerned with ticket scalping. "There had never been in AEG Live anyone scalping tickets" Leiweke responded

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 26m
"Mr. Anschutz is very tight," Leiweke said. "I don't remember this email but I remember him being concerned tickets were being scalped."

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 25m
Leiweke met Michael Jackson in person either 4 or 5 times.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 25m
"Michael wanted to tour," Leiweke said about the first meeting. "AEG Live was interested."

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 25m
Second time was in the guest house of Ron Burkle in Los Angeles. Jessie Jackson was there too, Leiweke said.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 25m
Boyle: What was the reason of the meeting?
Leiweke: There wasn't really one. We prayed a lot

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 25m
"Michael asked to meet Mr. Anschutz to talk about films," Leiweke said about the third meeting in Las Vegas.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 24m
Leiweke said he never met Murray and/or exchanged emails, calls with him. The exec didn't remember specifically the 1st time he heard of him

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 23m
Leiweke testified he never saw or heard the name Dr. Murray on pretour budgets.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 23m
"I've never seen this email between Randy and Kenny," Leiweke said about the 'Trouble at the Front' email chain.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 23m
Boyle said the chain was forwarded to Leiweke. The exec apologized and said he doesn't remember ever seeing the emails.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 23m
"We were aware that MJ had missed several rehearsals," Leiweke said.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 22m
Leiweke wrote email saying "Trouble with MJ. Big Trouble." He testified he didn't remember this specific email.

ABC7 Court News ?@ABC7Courts 22m
That ended video testimony of Leiweke. It was admitted into evidence. Judge ended session early. Jurors ordered back tomorrow at 9:45 am PT

MICHAEL JACKSON'S NEPHEW
He Handed Out $100 Bills
TO STRANGERS
BREAKING NEWS
Michael Jackson was foolishly generous when he was alive ... handing out $100 bills to complete strangers whenever he felt like it -- this according to his nephew.

TJ Jackson -- the co-guardian of Michael's three kids -- testified today as part of the wrongful death lawsuit against AEG, claiming MJ was "extremely generous" ... citing generosity towards his employees, as well as random handouts of $100 bills to strangers.

It's pretty crazy ... considering MJ died a financial wreck, buried in nearly insurmountable debt.

During his testimony, TJ also said MJ's daughter Paris was hit the hardest by the singer's death, saying, "The loss of my uncle has hit her at a different level ... She was daddy's little girl. My uncle was her world."

TJ said he also supports Halle Berry's efforts to block paparazzi from chasing celebrity kids -- claiming the Jackson children are often faced with rogue photogs. He said, "I think it's awful what they get away with."

Co-guardian says paparazzi make grieving more difficult for children of Michael Jackson
By ANTHONY McCARTNEY AP Entertainment Writer
June 27, 2013 - 4:04 pm EDT
AAA

LOS ANGELES — Scrutiny by paparazzi has made it more difficult for the children of Michael Jackson to grieve for their dead father, a family cousin who serves as co-guardian of the singer's children told a jury on Thursday.

TJ Jackson said the three children don't like the attention, and he supports any legislative effort to curb photographers from pursuing images of the sons and daughters of celebrities.

"In my opinion, I know it's making everything harder for the kids to grieve and recover and progress," Jackson said.

The comments came as Jackson testified during a civil trial involving the death of the pop star about his relationship with his famous uncle and the singer's parenting of his children.

He cited remarks made Tuesday by Halle Berry in Sacramento as the Legislature considers a bill that would change the definition of harassment to include photographing or recording a child without the permission of a legal guardian.

Anyone convicted of a first offense could spend between 10 days and a year in jail.

TJ Jackson said he had to consider whether Michael Jackson's youngest son Blanket should attend martial arts classes on Tuesday because photographers would be interested in getting a shot of the 11-year-old on the fourth anniversary of his father's death.

TJ Jackson is Tito Jackson's son and a member of the musical group 3T with two of his brothers.

T.J. Jackson breaks down on stand, says Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris is ‘in a tough spot’
Michael Jackson's nephew testifies in wrongful-death trial, says he is trying to help troubled teen

BY NANCY DILLON / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

THURSDAY, JUNE 27, 2013, 4:39 PM

ERIC FOUGERE/ASSOCIATED PRESS

T.J. Jackson, son of Tito Jackson, in 2003. He is Michael’s nephew.
Michael Jackson's nephew broke down crying on the witness stand Thursday and told jurors that the King of Pop's daughter is "in a tough spot" after her recent attempted suicide.

Tito "T.J." Jackson Jr. didn't specifically mention the June 5 call to paramedics saying Paris Jackson had taken 20 Motrin pills and slashed her arm with a kitchen knife. But he said that as her co-guardian along with grandmother Katherine Jackson, he's now working overtime to help the troubled teen.

"I don't want to go into details on what's going on with Paris now, but could you explain how Paris is handling the loss of her father?" asked Kevin Boyle, one of the lawyers representing Katherine in her wrongful death case against concert promoter AEG Live.

"It's tough," TJ said. "She was daddy's girl. My uncle was her world."

T.J. acknowledged Michael's death has "been very hard" for all three kids - including Michael’s sons Prince, 16, and Blanket, 11 - but Paris was "the princess of his life."

"Paris has a heart of gold," he said of the 15-year-old. "I just think the loss of my uncle has hit her at a different level. She's in a tough spot, but we're all loving her and doing everything we can to get her where she should be."

The 34-year-old son of Jackson Five member Tito Jackson said he agreed to become co-guardian of Michael's kids because the "Thriller" singer gave him extra support and guidance after the 1994 drowning murder of his mom DeDe Jackson.

He called Michael his "mentor" and smiled as jurors watched a music video of him and his brothers singing with the pop icon.

"He was just everything," T.J., bowing his head in tears and needing a minute to compose himself.

Scene from Michael Jackson wrongful death trial videos: Michael Jackson, Prince and Paris.
T.J. called his grandmother the "queen" and "CEO" of the family, saying it was his role simply to help her in any way possible with Michael's kids.

He said Katherine also has taken Michael's death "very hard."

"Our children are supposed to outlive us, so it's been very difficult on our grandmother," he said.

The married dad with three kids of his own was named co-guardian last summer after some relatives reported Katherine "missing" while she was out of state with a group of Michael's siblings.

Scene from Michael Jackson wrongful death trial videos: Paris Jackson tells what she wants to be when she grows up. Prince is at right.
He said he handles the kids' school and medical appointments and tries to instill in them the humility he admired in his uncle.

T.J. said he drives a Honda Accord and Michael's son Prince drives a Ford truck, not a Maserati.

"(Prince) is an amazing person," he said. "Since he was a kid, he's always been one of the smartest kids I've ever seen or known, reading books at a young age, devouring books."

Prince gave his own emotional testimony a day earlier, speaking publicly about his dad for the first time .

Prince Jackson, Prince Michael II "Blanket"Jackson and Paris Jackson arrive on stage at the Michael Forever the Tribute Concert, at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
The high schooler recalled his tears the day of his dad's fatal overdose and lamented his inability to share milestones such as his driver's license and first girlfriend with his doting dad.

"Nothing will ever be the same," Prince testified Wednesday. "I can't sleep at night. I have a hard time sleeping. For a while after he died, I became emotionally distant from a lot of people."

Prince also touched on his sister's current hospitalization in general terms.

"Out of all my siblings, she was probably hit the hardest because she was my dad's princess," he said. "It really hurt her a lot. She definitely is dealing with it in her own way."

Michael Jackson rehearses for his planned shows in London at the Staples Center on June 23, 2009, in Los Angeles. Jackson died two days later at the age of 50.
A source told the Daily News Paris suffers from "severe" depression and likely will remain in treatment for an extended period.

Speaking to jurors Thursday, T.J. said Michael's youngest son Blanket also misses his dad but is trying to live a normal life - one that includes martial arts classes every Tuesday.

He said Blanket was always "very shy."

"Blanket was always wrapped around (Michael's) leg, right behind his leg," he said. "Wherever my uncle was, Blanket was there. My uncle was everything to Blanket."

Katherine is suing AEG Live for damages that could top $1 billion, saying the promoter of Michael's ill-fated "This Is It" concert series should be held liable for his death.

Her lawsuit claims AEG Live negligently hired the doctor who's now serving four years for Michael's fatal overdose on June 25, 2009.

AEG has denied any wrongdoing, arguing it was Michael who hired the doctor and went to great lengths to hide his use of an intravenous anesthetic as a treatment for his insomnia.

Randy Phillips: He's president of AEG Live, the concert promoter that contracted with Michael Jackson for his "This Is It" comeback shows set to start in London in July 2009. The Jackson lawsuit says Phillips supervised Dr. Conrad Murray's treatment of Jackson in the weeks before his death, making the company liable for damages. E-mails between Phillips and other executives showed they were worried about Jackson's missed rehearsals and sought Murray's help getting him ready.

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Jurors heard more testimony Thursday about the emotional devastation caused by Michael Jackson's death.
"He was just everything," said T.J. Jackson, youngest son of Jackson's brother Tito.
T.J. Jackson, who shares guardianship of Michael Jackson's children -- Prince, Paris and Blanket -- with their grandmother, was called as a witness by Jackson lawyers at the wrongful death trial of AEG Live.
Michael Jackson's mother and his children contend his last concert promoter was liable for his death because it hired, retained or supervised Dr. Conrad Murray, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
AEG Live lawyers argue it was Jackson, not the company, who chose and controlled Dr. Murray. Their executives had no way of knowing he was giving nightly infusions of the surgical anesthetic propofol to Jackson, which the coroner ruled killed the singer, the lawyers say.
If the jury concludes AEG Live has liability in Jackson's death, then they must put a dollar figure on damages -- including the emotional toll on the children caused by the loss of their father.
The oldest child, 16-year-old Prince, testified Wednesday that sister Paris, 15, "was probably hit the hardest because she was my dad's princess."
Paris has been hospitalized since a suicide attempt earlier this month, although it is unclear whether jurors will know about it.
"The loss of my uncle has hit her at a different level and she's in a tough spot, but we're loving her and doing everything we can," T.J. Jackson testified Thursday
He said he was at a loss for words to describe what Paris is going through. "It's tough, you know, it's tough."
"She was daddy's girl," he said. "My uncle was her world. My uncle gave them more love and for it to be taken away, it's been very hard for Paris, and for all of them."
Blanket, who was 7 when his father died, "was always wrapped around his leg, very shy," T.J. Jackson said. "Wherever my uncle was, Blanket was a foot away, My uncle was everything to Blanket."
"Right now, I don't know if Blanket realizes what he lost," Prince said. "He was so young. He is still growing up just like I am and he doesn't have a father to guide him."
Prince said he has "a hard time sleeping" since his father's death in 2009. It left him "emotionally distant from a lot of people" for a while, he said.
He's missed sharing with his father "the first day of going to school, having the first girlfriend, being able to drive," Prince testified.
T.J. Jackson said Prince was Michael Jackson's "little assistant."
"He was very mature for his age, very smart. My uncle would prepare him for things" by telling him about his business deals.
"He's very strong, he's very smart," he testified. "He was always the smartest kid I'd ever known."
As a guardian, T.J. Jackson said he must constantly deal with paparazzi stalking the children for photographs.
"It's, just to be frank, a complete annoyance," he said. "It's awful."
He suggested there should be a new law to protect celebrity children from photographers.
"I know it's making everything harder for the kids to grieve and to recover and to progress," he said.

Dr. Conrad Murray’s attorney on Thursday countered the testimony of Michael Jackson’s eldest son who testified that the physician told him and his siblings “Sorry, kids – Dad’s dead” after their father was rushed to the hospital in 1999.

"I don't believe that Prince's statement regarding how he learned of his father's passing was intended to be a quote as to Dr. Murray's words," Valerie Wass said in a statement to The Times.

"Dr. Murray loved the children and as indicated in his statement to the police, he tried to find the best way to break the sad news to them," the jailed physician’s attorney said.

“He, along with MJ's manager Frank DiLeo, a hospital social worker, and Michael Amir (MJ's personal assistant who was close to the kids), went into the room at the hospital where the kids were waiting, and he and DiLeo gently broke the news to them.

“Dr. Murray stayed in the room for a while and hugged and comforted the children.

Prince Jackson, 16, testified for 90 minutes Wednesday, describing running upstairs to his father’s bedroom and seeing him -- with his eye rolled back in his head -- lying halfway off the bed as Murray performed CPR.

After an ambulance rushed his father to the hospital. Prince said Murray told them: “Sorry, kids – Dad’s dead.”

"We just cried," the performer's son said.

The testimony came in the ongoing wrongful-death suit filed by Prince Jackson, his siblings and his grandmother. They contend AEG Live, the entertainment company that was producing and promoting Michael Jackson's comeback tour, and two of its executives negligently hired and controlled Murray.

Murray, who gave the singer a fatal dose of the anesthetic propofol on June 25, 2009, is serving jail time for involuntary manslaughter. AEG says that Murray worked for Jackson and that any money the company was supposed to pay him was an advance to the singer.

During his testimony, Prince Jackson also talked about life with his famous father, living in Ireland, Paris, Bahrain, Las Vegas and at the Neverland compound in Santa Barbara County.

He said the children were only allowed to go to the zoo and ride the Ferris wheel at Neverland on special occasions. "My dad wanted us to remain humble," he said. Posted around the compound, he said, were messages and poems from their father. “When children play, tyrants cry, there is nothing to say,” said one.

We're finally about to get started in Jackson vs AEG Live trial. Testimony was delayed because the judge had to hear other cases.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP3h
We're on the lunch break in Jackson vs AEG Live trial. TJ Jackson didn't finish testifying, so he'll be back on the stand after the break.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP2h
We just came back into session in Jackson vs AEG Live. Afternoon testimony was delayed by a sidebar. TJ Jackson remains on the stand.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP2h
I'm heading back into court, but will have updates later today. AEG's defense attorney is now questioning TJ Jackson.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP33 m
TJ’s mother Delores, also known as Dee Dee, was murdered when he was 16. “My world crumbled and my uncle Michael saved it,” he said.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP33 m
TJ said his uncle gave him advice and tried to provide him with inspiration tried to keep him inspired. “He was just there for me.”

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP33 m
He said Jackson bought him and his brothers instruments and fostered their interest in music, but wanted them to earn their careers.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP33 m
He said his uncle pushed him to go to the Wharton School of Business, but TJ didn’t end up going. He said he regretted it.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP32 m
Boyle played a couple of video clips during TJ’s testimony, including one 3T music video featuring Michael Jackson.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP33 m
He said he went to shows on Michael Jackson’s previous tours and planned to go to “This Is It” in London.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP33 m
He recounted an incident in Spain where people lined the streets for 5 miles to cheer Jackson on. “He was very humble about that,” TJ said.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP32 m
TJ told the jury about Jackson’s generosity and how he won $200 in a trivia contest his uncle officiated between TJ and his brothers.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP31 m
He then discussed his co-guardianship arrangement with Katherine Jackson. He called the CEO and “queen” of the house.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP31 m
TJ said he coordinates a lot of Prince, Paris and Blanket’s after-school activities.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP31 m
Boyle was then asked about each of the children. Of Prince, he said he’s “poised and ambitious” and is extremely smart, reads a lot of books

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP31 m
“I just think the loss of the uncle has hit her at a different level,” TJ said of Paris.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP31 m
It was then that TJ made his comments about the paparazzi. Those are covered in this story link: Testimony in Jackson case focuses on paparazzi

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP31 m
TJ then described Paris’ relationship with her dad. He described her as a daddy’s girl who’s struggling with the loss of her father.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP31 m
He said he always thought Prince was his uncle’s little assistant. Blanket was always wrapped his father’s leg, TJ recalled.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP31 m
Boyle asked TJ about Kai Chase, his uncle’s chef who now works for Katherine. He says he had no idea she might be a witness in this case.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP31 m
TJ said he hadn’t heard of Chase until Prince, Paris and Blanket asked for her.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP30 m
Boyle finished his questioning of TJ, and AEG Live defense attorney Jessica Stebbins Bina took began her cross-examination.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP30 m
Stebbins Bina wanted a sidebar before she started her questioning, and that ate up most of the rest of the morning session.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP30 m
Her first questions before the lunch break were about Katherine Jackson’s absence last year.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP30 m
Stebbins Bina asked whether he was aware of any health problems Katherine Jackson experienced that prompted her time away.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP30 m
TJ said he’d heard talk about Katherine Jackson having health issues, but he’s not aware of any that she actually has.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP30 m
After the lunch break, there was a long sidebar before the court resumed. It was held in chambers, delayed questioning of TJ for abt 30 mins

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP30 m
Once testimony resumed TJ testified about Katherine and Joe Jackson’s 40th anniversary party. It was the last time he saw his uncle Michael.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP30 m
He said Jackson seemed happy but they didn’t talk about “This Is It” or music or career issues.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP30 m
TJ said he said goodbye to his uncle Michael, who asked if he was headed to London for “This Is It.” TJ said he would see him there.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP30 m
Stebbins Bina then asked TJ whether he believed his uncle Michael was murdered. “I do,” TJ responded.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP29 m
Michael Jackson told TJ and his brothers a couple times that he thought he would be murdered, he said. He said he didn't believe it at first

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP28 m
“My mother was murdered for money,” TJ said. “I don’t put anything past anyone.”

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP28 m
Shortly after that, TJ Jackson was excused and Taj Jackson took the stand. Taj Jackson is 39, is TJ’s older brother and a member of 3T.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP28 m
“I feel lost because he’s not here,” Taj Jackson of his uncle Michael.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP27 m
He added, “When my mom passed, he stepped in and just made sure that our whole world didn't crumble.”

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP27 m
He broke down when he described the impact of losing a parent. He cited them being gone for major milestones.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP27 m
Taj cited his wedding last weekend. He held it at the Jackson family’s Hayvenhurst home in Encino.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP27 m
Taj said he wanted to have it in a “place where both my uncle and my mom would be.”

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP27 m
Shortly after this, there was an afternoon break and they held a sidebar hearing over notes that Taj was going to testify about.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP27 m
One of the notes was from Paris to her father, expressing happiness that she got a hug. The judge ruled it couldn’t be shown to jury.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP27 m
Another note that Jackson wrote about something Blanket said at age 6 will be shown to jury, but with his age will be redacted.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP27 m
Plaintiff’s attorneys argued that the notes were “classic wrongful death evidence” and should be allowed in.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP29 s
The Jackson vs AEG Live trial ended for the day on arguments about whether Phil Anschutz could be ordered to come testify. Judge denied it.

Anthony McCartney ‏@mccartneyAP2m
Testimony will resume tomorrow at 10 a.m. PDT with Karen Faye. The testimony of Taj Jackson will be interrupted, resume later.

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Michael Jackson's nephew testified Thursday that he believes his uncle was murdered.
T.J. Jackson, the youngest son of Jackson brother Tito, revealed his suspicion while being cross examined by an AEG Live lawyer in the Michael Jackson wrongful death trial.
Jurors also heard him testify about the emotional devastation caused by Michael Jackson's death.
"He was just everything," said T.J. Jackson, who shares guardianship of Michael Jackson's children -- Prince, Paris and Blanket -- with their grandmother.
"Do you believe your uncle was murdered?" AEG Live attorney Jessica Stebbins Bina asked T.J. Jackson.
"I do," he answered. "I believe it because he did tell me and the brothers that he was going to be murdered on a couple of occasions.
"He said that just because of his position he was a target."
T.J. Jackson had earlier testified that his mother, Delores Jackson, was the victim of murder 19 years ago.
"My mother was murdered for money, too, so I don't put that past anyone," he said.
Initially it was believed that his mother, Delores Martes Jackson, who had divorced from Tito Jackson in 1993, drowned in a swimming pool, but the case was reopened, and her sons in 1995 filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against a man they accused of killing her. Three years later, the man was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

TJ Jackson testifies in Michael Jackson wrongful death trial
Thursday, June 27, 2013

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Some of Michael Jackson's nephews were called to the witness stand Thursday in the family's wrongful death trial.

Members of Michael Jackson's extended family were both inspired and guided by the pop icon, according to court testimony.

TJ is currently co-guardian for Jackson's children, tending them along with their grandmother, Katherine Jackson. TJ testified to the family's loss. He told the jury that Jackson had become like a surrogate parent to him, saying, "He was just everything," as he broke down.

"My mother was murdered a month after I turned 16. My world crumbled and my uncle Michael saved it," said TJ.

TJ ,now 35, said it was one reason he agreed to help care for the Jackson children. He described how close they had been to their father. Blanket always wrapped around his legs and Prince acted like his father's assistant. Paris, he testified, was daddy's princess and took it the hardest.

The children and their grandmother are suing AEG Live for millions of dollars in damages for allegedly hiring the doctor who caused Jackson's death. The complaint accuses AEG executives of pressuring Jackson to attend rehearsals for his upcoming tour in London and ignoring signs that he might not be healthy.

TJ testified that he saw his uncle at a family gathering six weeks before his death. Under cross-examination, he said that his uncle appeared happy and that he didn't see any sign of ill health and didn't notice any weight change.

TJ told the jury about his last conversation with his uncle and that Michael Jackson said, "See you in London."

In a late development, Jackson attorneys said the singer's daughter, Paris, will not be called to testify, at least not by the plaintiffs.

Michael Jackson's daughter is in a "tough spot" after her attempted suicide and in too much "pain" to testify in her family's wrongful-death case against his concert promoter, a judge heard Thursday.

"Paris is not going to be testifying," lawyer Deborah Chang told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos while the jury was out of the courtroom.

"We have a little girl in so much pain right now, she cannot come," Chang said.

Paris, 15, was hospitalized after paramedics rushed to her Calabasas mansion earlier this month for a call that she downed 20 Motrin pills and slashed her arm with a kitchen knife.

Chang confirmed Paris won't take the witness stand as she argued to admit a handwritten note the King of Pop's daughter purportedly wrote to her dad in the months before his death.

"Dead Daddy, I love you so much & I'm so glad I got a goodnight hug," the note reads. "Sleep well. I love you & good night. I'll see you tomorrow! XOX Goodnight. Lots of love, Paris Jackson"

Paris Jackson is having a hard time since her dad’s death.

Chang argued that the pencil-written note depicts how Paris "felt about her father" and the great love they shared.

A lawyer for AEG objected that it was hearsay, and the judge agreed. The note was not admitted as evidence.

Earlier Thursday, Michael Jackson's nephew broke down crying on the witness stand as he discussed the heartache his family has suffered after Michael's fatal overdose.

Tito "T.J." Jackson Jr. didn't specifically mention Paris' failed suicide bid, but he said that as her co-guardian along with grandmother Katherine Jackson, he's now working overtime to help the troubled teen.

"I don't want (you) to go into details on what's going on with Paris now, but could you explain how Paris is handling the loss of her father?" asked Kevin Boyle, one of the lawyers representing Katherine.

"It's tough," T.J. said. "She was daddy's girl. My uncle was her world."

He acknowledged Michael's death has "been very hard" for all three kids - including sons Prince, 16, and Blanket, 11 - but Paris was "the princess of his life."

"Paris has a heart of gold," he said. "I just think the loss of my uncle has hit her at a different level. She's in a tough spot, but we're all loving her and doing everything we can to get her where she should be."

The 34-year-old son of Jackson 5 member Tito Jackson said he agreed to become co-guardian of Michael's kids because the "Thriller" singer gave him extra support and guidance after the 1994 drowning murder of his mom DeDe Jackson.

He called Michael his "mentor" and smiled as jurors watched a music video of him and his brothers singing with the pop icon.

"He was just everything," T.J. said, bowing his head in tears and needing a minute to compose himself.

He called his grandmother the "queen" and "CEO" of the family, saying it was his role simply to help her in any way possible with Michael's kids.

He said Katherine also has taken Michael's death "very hard."

"Our children are supposed to outlive us, so it's been very difficult on our grandmother," he said.

The married dad with three kids of his own was named co-guardian last summer after some relatives reported Katherine "missing" while she was out of state with a group of Michael's siblings challenging the validity of his will.

Prince Jackson, Prince Michael II "Blanket"Jackson and Paris Jackson arrive on stage at the Michael Forever the Tribute Concert, at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

T.J. said he handles the kids' school and medical appointments and tries to instill in them the humility he admired in his uncle.

He said he drives a Honda Accord and Michael's son Prince drives a Ford truck, not a Maserati.

"(Prince) is an amazing person," T.J. said. "Since he was a kid, he's always been one of the smartest kids I've ever seen or known, reading books at a young age, devouring books."

Prince gave his own emotional testimony a day earlier, speaking publicly about his dad for the first time Wednesday.

Michael Jackson rehearses for his planned shows in London at the Staples Center on June 23, 2009, in Los Angeles. Jackson died two days later at the age of 50.

Prince also touched on his sister's current hospitalization in general terms.

"Out of all my siblings, she was probably hit the hardest because she was my dad's princess," he said. "It really hurt her a lot. She definitely is dealing with it in her own way."
