And the soap opera continues. KJ is now working for the $100,000 or she'll give the money back. If they think stars are going to risk their reputation by signing up to this SCAM, they are in for a good dose of reality check. Without the Estate they are going nowhere. And the "first class travel accommodations" promise is too funny to even comment on.

Looks like they're reaching out to the right people, but they've left it far too late. Contacting major stars with only two months notice is ludicrous. These people make commitments 6 - 12 months in advance in many cases. Artists like Chris Brown, Bruno Mars and Bieber would have been great for the show (in terms of media attention, credibility etc) and would have jumped at the chance to perform at an MJ tribute and must be gutted that they can't make it.
Signing the available stars to perform is one major hurdle when it's so close to the concert, but ensuring that the show runs smoothly will be almost impossible. Once the artists are signed, somebody has got to sort out the show timings, who is going to sing which songs, and how potential collaborations will work, not to mention allowing time for the artists to rehearse properly, and organising the staging in terms of costumes, video screens, special effects etc. This could turn out to be a disorganised mess.
It's good to see that things may finally be starting to come together but as we all know MJ liked things on a grand scale. Getting the world's biggest artists at short notice is difficult (if not impossible), but putting together a visually stunning show on the scale of the ones we're now used to seeing (e.g. from the likes of Take That etc.) will be impossible. They're going to have to go with the minimalist approach, which is not how MJ would want it.
If Chris Brown and Bruno Mars had confirmed their attendance, and if they were joined by Kanye, Jay Z, Usher, Cee-lo then I would definitely have bought tickets. I would still like to see Cee Lo and Kanye, but I wouldn't go just to see them. A 4 hour concert will seriously drag if there are only a handful of artists I want to see.

you are making some compelling points. The other big problem here is that this idea was strictly born out of greed and WITHOUT consultation with the MJ Estate. I personally would not watch a tribute of this scale that has not been endorsed by the MJ Estate. It's just unethical.

Since MJ death, the jacksons have being acting in direct confrontation with MJ Estate by trying all kinds of tricks to milk his image and likeness. and this tribute is yet another example of a long tale of deceitful stories. This is deja vu. Remember Melissa Johnson and Howard Mann and the fake HTWF?

It isn't just late for the stars and their committments. I know it is too late for me to ask for vacation. Plus this would be an expensive trip for me.
Plus on Oct 15 I see the Cirque show!!!! So excited

He doesn't need a tribute concert filled with artists who will just produce the same tributes they've probably done in their tours a year ago, especially by his family who clearly have shown on many occasions that Michael was right in not giving them control over the Estate. Cirque Du Soleil will be a brilliant tribute to the man and his music, as far as I am concerned for now THAT is the real tribute event taking place.

Jermaine said that he was offered "good money" but he turned it down. Now KJ is offering the other artists "first class accommodations". Ain't that funny? the Jacksons get money while others get accomodations.

As for me, even if I went to a tribute show, I would want to see true legends performing. I am not interested in the likes of Justin Bieber etc. I would want to see the likes of U2, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder... Some of them probably don't top the charts now, but they are legends and they can give a tribute worthy of MJ.

I agree 100%. It's obvious the whole thing is so redundant and unnecessary as the Estate and cirque du soleil are gearing up to launch the IMMORTAL WORLD TOUR in a few weeks as a fitting tribute to MJ. The Jacksons are just too embarrassing. literally begging artists to join an ill-fated tribute concert.

Katherine Jackson Courting MASSIVE Stars for MJ Tribute Show

Michael Jackson's mom has personally reached out to some of the biggest music stars in the world in the hopes of getting them to perform at the big MJ tribute show in October ... but only ONE of them is a definite YES ... TMZ has learned.

Sources connected to the concert tell us ... Jay-Z, Kanye West, Cee Lo, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, Usher and Bruno Mars have each received an invitation (pictured above) from Katherine Jackson ... asking them to perform 1 or 2 of their favorite MJ songs in Cardiff, Wales on Oct. 8.

Katherine promises each star who signs on will be provided with "first class travel accommodations."

We're told Chris Brown, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars have each respectfully declined the invite due to scheduling conflicts ... however, Christina and Kanye are leaning towards "Yes."

As for the one person who's already signed on the dotted line -- sources tell us Cee Lo from Gnarls Barkley was quick to commit.

Tickets to the event have not gone on sale yet -- but promoters say they will become available once a complete line-up is booked.

Be happy it's not the children' name on that invitation...begging artists to perform for "my daddy".

One other person that most likely WON'T make Victory Reloaded? U-S-H-E-R

Is that a joke. Whos nxt M&M?

Omg! Is this what Michael has become, a begging invitation at the last minute to rush a 'tribute' to make a quick buck, is this all he is worth.

I have no problem with the artists that have been invited, I only have a problem with they way this is being organised (if you can call it that).

The organisers and the family need to be called out about their original excuse for the timing of this event, because the reasons they had given regarding the organising is clearly a blatant lie, they don't even have a line-up or know what each will sing so all that has happened is that the stadium is booked. So why does this have to happen during the trial?

I hope the artists do their research on this tribute and don't just accept because they think it will be an appropriate tribute that the fans support.

Absolutely right. I would expect them to double check the facts with the Estate. It's just common sense.

I hope as well that all the artists's who are being invited to be involved in this check things out before they say yes to it.

Craig david and ceelo have said yes right? I dont know about this, music is always a good thing, also in bad times like the trial, but its also tricky and can be misread easily. so im not sure about this

I couldn't figure out what's written in the invitation because the picture is too small. Did it really say "my son was a fan of your work"? wow

Was that to Kanye? He did work with him on T25..

Mrs. Katherine Jackson along with Global Live events wishes to invite you to perform at
"Michael Forever"
The tribute concert
In honor of my son
This is a long overdue celebration of Michael's life and music being held at Millennium stadium in Cardiff Wales on the eight of October two thousand eleven.

My son was a fan of your work and it would be our pleasure to have you be a part of this historic event. The music will be provided by seasoned musicians including members of Michael's band. We would like for you to select 1-2 of your favorite Michael Jackson songs to perform that day in honor of my son.

First class travel accommodation will be provided. I would like to thank you for your consideration and we hope to see you at Eight of October.

Sincerely
Mrs. Katherine Jackson

Was that to Kanye? He did work with him on T25..

I'm pretty sure all of the artists will get the same text with only the name changed at the top.

btw I realized another problem.. the invitation says pick up your favorite 1-2 MJ songs. What happens if 10 artists pick billie jean? Are we going to hear it 10 times? sorry but these people do not know how to organize a tribute concert. It should also include negotiations for who will sing what.

If I recall correctly, Kanye and Jay-Z's new tour starts October 28th.

Which "technically" means Kanye IS available, but his tour contract MAY say differently. I guess time will tell.

Repeating what someone said earlier: These high-profile artist usually have their commitments booked well in advance most of the time.

I wonder when these invitations went out? I mean, did Katherine Jackson start her BEGGING months ago, or did these invitations go out recently, in light of what has gone on with the ticket-booth being shut down.

This is just so BACKWARDS, in my opinion.

Why conduct a press conference BEFORE you have your line-up confirmed?

Did they learn nothing after Jermaine's attempts at presenting a tribute!

Katherine Jackson clearly said: "after she heard who would be performing she knew it would be a tribute fit for a king."

What she SHOULD have said is: "we sent out invitations to all of today's top artists, we are waiting for their responses."
