No disrespect to the Jackson family but WE are fans of Michael, not the Jackson family. Over the years Michael did so much for the family financially that they need to thank us instead of us thanking them with this "tribute", we all know they Jackson family will get paid for this tribute.

Once the Jackson family realises that they are "good" but Michael was THE star they will realise that the fans WILL pay for a Bad tour DVD or something like that but not for some "tribute" concert. We all know what Latoya said.........Jermaine's song: Word To Be Bad, Joe.........do I need to continue ???? We are intrested in Michael not that the Jacksons want to release another cd........or go on tour , who gives a damm ??? The Jacksons WAS and IS Michael, the Jackson's succes WAS and IS Michael (no disrespect to Janet)

Michael was about LOVE, the Jackson family is about money !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree.

You read my mind. In order for me to spend that kind of money and make a trip to the UK, the show has to be spectacular (Honestly, since almost all major artists nowadays tour in North East U.S., I don't know if there is any show that is attractive enough for me to cross the Atlantic Ocean to attend.) Also, I need more time to plan the trip. For me, two-month notice is a bare minimum. I need to check my work schedule to see if I can take off in October and postpone my winter vacation plan. To complicate matter, the organizer will not confirm my seat until days before the show. They just make it impossible for me to attend. Originally, I'm saddend by the fact that there is no official tribute for Michael. I so wanted a respectful tribute like the one for Freddie Mercury to take place. But now it doesn't bother me anymore. Fans pay tribute to Michael in our own ways everyday. He lives in our hearts. We have our own Michael Jackson tributes, which are actually more sincere. Tribute or no tribute, he lives forever.I still hope the organizer of this Michael Forever Tribute can get their acts together. For fans who are able and plan to attend the tribute, I wish them a wonderful time and nice memory.
the estate said when jerm was anouncing his twenty diff tributes that an offical one would be done in the future by them.

Yes, but 2 years after MJ died they still havent got their act together. It's too slow. The estate should have organised one for last summer. Or at least this summer. Why is it taking so long???

Mitch Winehouse is already talking about a tribute concert for Amy. He couldn't do a worse job than the Jackson family if he tried.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • The "Michael Forever Tribute" is schedule for Cardiff, Wales, on October 8
  • Jackson brothers Jermaine and Randy object to the show's timing
  • "Nothing can be announced until" contracts are signed, a spokeswoman says

Los Angeles (CNN) -- A planned Michael Jackson tribute concert, supported by the late pop star's mother and four siblings, was in disarray Thursday amid family squabbling and the apparent failure of promoters to sign any big-name acts so far.
Tickets for the show, scheduled for Cardiff, Wales, in October, were to go on sale Thursday, but fans still had no idea of who would perform.
The head of the British company promoting the concert promised last week it would "feature the world's most amazing music performers." The roster would be revealed online one act at a time over the next 10 days weeks, Global Live Events CEO Chris Hunt told reporters at a July 25 news conference.
"Everybody's in the midst of signing contracts so nothing can be announced until that happens," Juliette Harris, spokeswoman for Global Live Events, told CNN late Tuesday. She suggested an announcement would come Wednesday.
By Thursday, still no acts had been announced.
The problems started soon after brothers Marlon, Tito and Jackie, sister La Toya and family matriarch Katherine Jackson attended the "Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert" announcement at the Beverly Hills Hotel on July 25.
La Toya Jackson said it was "something that's spectacular" while the Jacksons' mother called it "a show fit for a king."
"If my son were here today, he would feel the same way," Katherine Jackson said.
"I know my brother would be very, very proud to see all the artists that he admired and respected so much coming together for this event," Tito Jackson said.
But an hour later, Jermaine and Randy Jackson, the only brothers not at the news conference, issued a sharply worded statement that reflected a deep division within the Jackson family over the show.
"We want to make clear that this does not reflect the position of the entire family," the two brothers said in a joint statement.
"While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death."
While Hunt had hinted it could include a Jackson brothers reunion, the statement from Jermaine and Randy Jackson made it clear that would not happen.
"In light of this, we feel it is inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event and its promoter, Global Live," Randy and Jermaine Jackson said.
Their statement said the idea of the October concert was presented to the entire family in April "as an idea already in its advanced stages." The decision to go ahead with it "disrespects opinions and wishes expressed in the strongest terms" by some members of the Jackson family, they said.
The Michael Jackson Fan Club agreed with the two brothers, issuing a similar statement.
"We share their concerns that this concert is taking place at a most inappropriate time when everyone's care and attention should be focused on the matter of justice. We believe that, as stated by Jermaine and Randy, the most important tribute we can give to Michael Jackson at this time is to seek justice in his name."
Jackson fans posted messages on the concert's Facebook page questioning ticket prices and the process for buying them.
Fans must place bids for a chance to buy a ticket. The higher their pledge to a charity, the better their chances of getting a good seat.
"The ticket system is so bad!! the higher you bid the better seats you get?? not every Michael fan is rich!!!" one fan posted on the "Michael Forever Tribute" Facebook page Thursday.
After several days of such negative posts, a link to the Facebook page was removed from the concert's website.
The October 8 show, in the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, which seats 75,000 people, would be at least four hours long, Hunt said.
In addition to the other problems surrounding the event, a spokesman for Michael Jackson's estate said last week that the promoters never sought or obtained permission from the estate's executors to use late pop singer's name or image.
"The estate has not been contacted and is not involved with Global Live Events in the UK tribute concert announced today," spokesman Jim Bates told CNN.

the estate has more important issues to deal with like lawsuits etc.maybe when the estate is out of probate? We have forever.id rather wait a few years for a proper one then have god knows how many fake jacksons one. And mitch winehouse is about on the same level as the jacksons for being a media whore so no wonder hes out there alraady planning something

concert for Diana was done on 10 th anniversary of her death. I don't think they need to rush.

Well, if the Estate could get into a contract with Cirque Du Soleil to orgarnize the Immotal show during probate, I guess the Estate could also get into a deal with a reputable event organizer, such as Live Nation or AEG to organize a tribute show. The fact that the Estate is in probate is irrelevant. I'm not complaining here. I agree with Ivy. They don't need to rush to organize a tribute. May be they want to focus on the Cirque show and make sure everything is done right???

Anyway, like I said, tribute or no tribute, Michael lives forever through his arts and his influence is visible everyday.

The countdown on the website home page ( http://home.michaelforevertribute.com/home.html ) has been replaced with "Please standby for further announcements". The countdown still appears on the "TEXT TO WIN" and "ARTISTS" pages. 1 hour and 40 minutes left on the countdown.

now the countdown is gone. does that mean that we'll not be able to register for tickets? man I'm so bummed or Not :p

There have been major events that have taken place that could be considered similar to a "tribute", and why the estate may not be proactive in putting together ONE tribute.

1. The memorial. That was an internatiional homage to the King, with thousands of fans in attendance and seen around the world.

2. This Is IT movie. For me, it serves as the best possible tribute because it gave us Michael, himself. In 2001, the 30th anniversary celebration was great with all the other artists, but the best part of it all was when MJ himself graced the stage. Even now, I'd much rather see every single bit of footage they have of him for TII, than mega stars singing his songs. And MJ wouldn't have to be singing or dancing for me to enjoy it. Just give me him walking, talking and smiling and I'd be happy.

3. Cirques Soleil. It will be a full out major production of MJ's work. The only thing that won't make it an official tribute is it's not being called that, and major stars aren't involved.

But even with the above, I can see the estate eventually staging a major tribute at some point, but what's already been done is certainly bigger than the tribute that was done for Freddy Mercury and anything planned for Amy.

but the cirque du soleil show is somewhat a tribute for him. It will be based on his back catalogue. one does not need a parade of artists for a tribute. The ONLY reason the jacksons are rushing this so-called tribute is because they are in desperate need for money. none of them wants to work for a living. they are stuck in J5 and have done almost nothing since because they have nothing else to offer.

Great post :)

am I misunderstanding something..the thing says buy tickets....I thought that you were suppose to BID on tickets.and the highest bidder got a particular seat...and proceeds are going to charity.

I agree that the Cirque Show can be wonderful. That's why I said I'm not disappointed or complaining. Gerryevans worded beautifully in the above post.

As for the motive of the Jackson family, I do not want to speculate or make any assumption. It doesn't matter what I believe or what I think, the outcome will not be affected by me. I choose to stay open minded. I still wish the organizers can get their acts together and make this event more assessible for people who want to attend. I personally do not plan to go. If they have to cancel the show, I hope they can do it in a dignified way - refund people who may have paid and do not take advantage of anyone.

P.S.: For the people who claimed the organizer can earn interest from the money from ticket sales temporarily, the current 1-Month LIBOR is only 0.20%, I don't know how much money they can make from interest.

No, you don't BID on the tickets.. tickets prices are known, but once you chose your ticket price, you have to add an amount of money for charity.. the more money you want to give, the higher your chance to be CHOSEN to have your ticket... and you won't know if you got your ticket before couple of days before the show... then when you are chosen, they take your money for the ticket AND the amount you said you'd give to charity.
No proceeds of the tickets are going to charity, only the money you added to the ticket price. Ticket price money will go to GL and the Jacksons.

But the countdown has stopped now, so no ticket buying at the moment... suspense ;)

Someone wrote this on the facebook page:

I think the Tribute will be cancelled with the explanation "because of the fan's pressure" and that they decided to honor the fans' wishes, as the fans were the most important to Michael etc ... yaddah yaddah yaddah.

I think that is quite likely to happen.

Sooooo possible ;)

I said that the first day. If an announcement comes it will be like "we listened to the fans and decided to postpone this till after the trial".

I'll call it a BS but hey that's just me. :)

Yeah, very likely. Pretend to care and listen to the fans. Easy way out.

OH WOW...thank you for clarification....boy was I WAAYYYY off the mark....they crack me up...wont even know if you get the ticket for a couple days before hand...what a joke. Ya know what else pissed me off....when I read on the page under the word "about".....Katherine herself...Michael Jackson's beloved mother will be at this tribute concert on October 8th....INSTEAD of being in the courtroom with her sons murderer. Well if this thing ever goes off....the Jackson's have found their way to again...successfully make money off of the name Michael Jackson. The disgust never ends,.

Yeah, very likely. Pretend to care and listen to the fans. Easy way out.

also i am sure that they are seeing that if we the fans dont support this...WHO is gonna buy their lame ass tickets...no one thats who. when in all reality it is probably the fact that they couldn't get any entertainers to sign on for this joke..AND the fans not buying tickets. smdh

Most of the ^people I've seen who wanted to buy tickets are believers. And I dont think it's enough to fill the stadium.

All this is so lame.

Exactly. Chris Hunt worded that statement carefully a few days ago to get the beLIEver's attention.

Its just a pity that they cant organise it much better because I think fans would go.

I think they would only go if the jacksons had nothing to do with it or it was planned and organised by the estate.after what they have done to mj this last year i wouldnt want to be in the same country as them let alone city

Yep, I see on a believer wall that they are talking about this concert...
So they still think MJ is alive
and they still think the Jacksons are reliable..

Must be nice to be that naive and blind. I envy them sometimes :)

But... Jermaine is ''supposed to be on the believer side'' (lol) because all the slips he made and ALL the ''proofs'' he gave.. (yeah right).. so why do they think Michael would come back during this concert when Jermaine is against it.. you can never logically follow how they think... fascinating... yet so sad...

As Ivy pointed out previously, the wording they used does sound like it's a hint to the believers. They will go because they think Michael will be there. I doubt if that was intentional from the family or organisers, but still, a bad choice of words.

Exactly. Chris Hunt worded that statement carefully a few days ago to get the beLIEver's attention.

that really is just so sad that they are playing those people like that...taking them for their money is all they are doing...they should be ashamed of themselves..those poor folks are unstable enough...and to do something like that to them is just unspeakable. This whole thing is one big sham...I really hope it just folds.

Must be a nice world to live in instead of the harshness of reality
