I read post 397...Ben had said that they had said they would be releasing the line-up on the 3rd

"some" of the lineup. That's what they have been saying on facebook.

and this is hilarious

Ok serious, where´s John Branca when you need him??? Somebody needs to stop this!

Michael Forever Tribute Why would you want to stop it?

Tiff Because its about money not about charity. At all! It's very clear in the way you purchase a ticket it's about Money. Michael would not want to be honoured if the agenda is money.

Ada The Old MJ fan base doesn't support this because it has Nothing to do with Michael, but using his name for money! Like always, besides, the only Charity is the ones who Organize this BS!

Sandy ‎Michael Forever Tribute The fact that you even ask, shows that you actually know nothing about Michael´s fans! Oh well, at least the Jackson family gets another chance to promote themselves, their books, perfumes, albums, flower delivery service and each other business idea they had since Mike passed. Not to mention they get another opportunity to somehow explode his children... :-/

Ivy who was that conversation between? it really does show the majority of the fans reaction

I think John Branca isn't stepping in for a couple reasons...He probably is concerned that if he does, people will look down on him for stopping 'poor ol grandma and the families tribute to Michael'..Also, he probably figures if he stops it, that the Jacksons will start even more griping against the estate, which I'm sure he's just tired of..He has to balance a fine line with this family..

I wonder if he actually knows that a lot of fans would be happy if he put the kibosh on the whole thing..

er, I hope they mean 'exploit'!

Re: 'the only Charity is the ones who Organize this BS!'.......the Prince's Trust is a very reputable charity and would not be involved if anything seemed amiss, I'm sure.

I agree. Maybe he's waiting to see if and how this will go ahead.Let's say they've planed a tribute without any picture of Michael, without ever mentioning more than his first name. Ok, that would be lame, but I dont think they could do anything about it, could they?
And if they need to sue someone, they'll sue GL, not the Jacksons.

I still cant believe a promoter can plan such an event without checking with the Estate first. Either they're complete morons, or something's fishy.

Branca cant stop anything.theres only so much they can do ie name and likeness.they cant stop it from hap

But he could send them a cease and desist order re - likeness and name, right? If it appeared they intended to use them.

Yeah if they use it they can take action.but cant do anything interms of stopping the show

But is the Prince's Trust involved? I don't see any reference to this concert on the Prince's Trust site. As far as I can understand this process, the concert organizers will collect the money and then make a donation to the Trust. Fans will have no way of knowing how much was actually collected for charity. I'm not saying it is shady necessarily, just that there appears to be no transparency about the charitable donation aspect.

Well, they are using his name for the title of the concert..."Michael Forever" , wouldn't they have to change it if the estate said so?

They make plans for this big concert and don't even contact the estate for permission on using things...lol...it's just sad :sigh:

I think as they seem to be using the Prince's Trust as part of the concert 'advertising' (to give the event a bit of 'gravitas', status, whatever) I imagine that the Prince's trust would have had to agree to be named in the press releases. The Trust won't want to be associated with anything at all dubious. Plus of course the concert is in Cardiff and the prince is the Prince of Wales...off to the Tower with them if they use the 'PT's name in vain, I think. (LOL but partly serious)

Not really. Michael is a very common boy's name. The fact they only used his first and not his last name is a way to get over the likeness issue. That's why it isn't called a Michael Jackson Tribute concert because they would get into trouble with the estate.

Hmmm really? So it's as long as they don't include Jackson then they can get it away with it..But everyone knows by 'Michael' they mean Michael Jackson, I figured just that implication was enough? I'm not really familiar with the legal aspect.

Where did it say they would anounce the performers tom? I saw they said there would be a p.c tom but didnt read anything about what would be said

There is a link to the Official Twitter on the website http://michaelforevertribute.com

The implication is obvious, but the estate only has a copyright to 'Michael Jackson'. You can't just copyright 'Michael' by itself since they are allot of people with that first name. Unless people know what you are talking about, you can't just say the name Michael in a conversation and expect everyone to just think of Michael Jackson first.

However, since they can't use his full name this comes to a big problem with merchandise. They can't sell T-shirts, hats, ect for much since they can't use Michael's full name or likeness and most of the money during any concert come from the sell of merchandise.

yep. that's the website that they opened up early last time and where I got the info
perhaps they'll put the artist's names early too ehehehe

Yes, I can't wait to see the names of these "big stars".

The annoncment of the "big star" should be interesting....

I don't want to start something but have you seen these statements from Global Live? Doesn't it sound like to attract death hoax believers?

Global Live Events' president Chris Hunt said in relation to the stadium's sliding roof capability:

"It will not be less than four hours long and, rather than looking like a massive outdoor festival, we can create an intimate atmosphere that Michael would be proud to perform in.

"We wanted to do something decent and worthy of Michael's musical genius yet something fun and authentic that you would envision Michael attending with excitement and joy, surrounded by talent that he respected and loved."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/walesmus...michael-jackson-tribute-concert-cardiff.shtml

^ That's ridiculous :ninja:. But yes, believers are going to attend this "tribute". Maybe Global Live is focused on this certain group of potential tickets buyers :sigh:.

They problem is not the crossover of fans, but the fact that the Jacksons has no public trust. Much like Jermaine when it came to all his reunion announcement. Fans and the public don't see this tribute happening so they don't bother to find out more information. If the Jacksons had a better track record with this kind of stuff, regardless about how greedy they act, they would of have a better response. The ticket system, of course, doesn't help.

Exactly! I personally don't really trust anything that has to do with the Jacksons. Specially not a tribute concert, not after they blew the first one that was planned. You simply do not blow a tribute concert to THE major artist in the world. This is not a joke people. I don't recall people having organized a tribute concert to Freddy Mercury without success. How do they think it will look if the second tribute become a no-show???

My advise: let it be done by some real professionals and Jermaine can get some VIP tickets... IF he behaves well!

Sad to say... but this tribute is a joke. The Jackson family will never do something serious for Michael. NEVER!

I know, Michael so does not deserve this!

I can't wait to see the list of performers. Does anyone entertain the idea that we could be actually hugely surprised today? lol The suspense is killing me! hahahah

I wouldn't even care... but I still can't get over the fact itv will be on during the trial. I actually wanna bang my head against a brick wall.
