It's really sad because no doubt I want to see a tribute to Michael. He did so much for the music and entertainment business. So many people said he influenced or inspired them. It's like nobody knows how to do it right.

I want to see a tribute of Michael that The Estate puts on and The Estate only.

They keep it classy. Anything by this family is going to be an epic fail or epic f**kery.

No thanks. I will wait for the Cirque show the Estate supports when it comes here to NY.

WOW at the amount of money this crap tribute is asking for! It's like Vtour ticket drama all over agan! Seem like some members didin't learn their lesson back in the 80's! greedy much?! lol smh

With no michael no concert is worth that much....period! IMO and no wannabes won't do it either!

yeah. i wish it was the estate doing it as well. there would be none of this mess

Could someone tell me what was going on during the Victory Tour?

I honestly believe the Jackson family should just stay out of it.
Firstly, this bad, bad organizing of a tribute to the biggest musical artist of the 20. century by an unknown company is really embarrassing. Michael doesn't deserve this kind of treatment.
Secondly the way they want to sell the tickets is just amazingly unfair. With the Jackson family being behind the organization I think a large amount of money will be going to their pockets.

How about another idea, besides the one about the fans cooperating with the Estate to produce a true tribute: let a couple of years go by and when the Kids are old enough, let them decide and organize a tribute. Without anyone from the family.

Ew, this is gross. I live close to Cardiff but I will not be attending this embarrassment. It's going to flop so badly.

It was the same lottery type of thing they're pulling for this tribute.

During the victory tour, the fans had buy tickets in blocks of 4 with each ticket costing 30 dollars. They had to send in their money ($120), along with a coupon from a newspaper, via mail-order. From there, there was a lottery to determine who got tickets and who didn't. If you were successful in getting the tickets, you might not have known about it until 2 days before the show AND they could give you tickets for any show in the US, regardless of what you listed as your preferred location. If you missed out, your money would sit around for a month or two in a bank account so that the promoters could collect interest on it before they refunded you.

So, for obvious reasons, the fans weren't too happy, and Michael pretty much took all the slack for the whole thing (even though it was Joe's idea to hire Don King and Michael was outvoted when he said he didn't want Don as promoter). He ended up having to intervene on his own anyway and demand that the method of ticket distribution be changed.

Thinking about what happened back then, you'd think the Jacksons would have learned from the experience, wouldn't you? Why do they have make such a simple thing so complicated? Why not just sell tickets like normal people do? If the tribute is for charity, then take a percentage out of the ticket price and give it to charity. If they want people to donate extra money, have some charity representative guy at the venue taking donations at the door or something. It's so simple. But, NO, they have to make things so difficult that the people who actually might want to go, will be turned off by the whole process of purchasing the tickets. Michael isn't involved in this. Michael is not going to be there. His fans aren't going to go out of their way (like they did on the victory tour), pulling their hair out and competing for tickets. I don't know how they expect this to work. Whatever, I guess.

I don't understand why you need to buy ticket plus make a donation and then you have to wait and see if you actually get the ticket.

with the galaxy of stars due to perform im sure they expect the ticket demand to exceed the "this is it" ticket sale....

No looking back, it only confirms my personal belief that the Jackson's are just as greedy now, as they were 28 years ago. Plus now that Michael is not here anymore to make them change anything they can pretty much do whatever the heck they want -or so they think.- They forget though that the reason why there is even the tiniest bit of interest/support left for them, is no more. Who are they trying to kid here, they're just as money hungry as they were before, though their fame has faded away, and their star is no longer shining. The hunger for more, the will to leech off, exploit is still as present today as it was back then.

The fact the whole thing is pretty much the same as the victory ticket mess tells u everything.ie who was involved in doing it that way

What you're saying is ... probably right!

I can't help but feel the same way. I believe that the problem with the Jacksons is that that they think they're bigger than they actually are. The only reason the fans tolerated the bullish in 1984 and went to the ends of the earth to get tickets for Victory was purely because they knew Michael was going to be there, and he was going to perform. Even with that certainty of Michael's presence at the shows, they were still unhappy about the ticket distribution. The Jacksons, whether they like it or not, aren't in enough demand for this to work the way they've set it up. I don't know any Michael fan who would be willing to go to the same great lengths, spending at least 55 pounds plus donation, competing against the rich for tickets, just for a show that includes watching a bunch of celebrities killing Michael's songs. ESPECIALLY when we'd be busy focusing on Murray's trial (like the Jacksons should be doing) and getting justice for Michael. Flying to Wales for some show will be the last thing on our minds.

Just reading the dissappointment of people who wanted to buy tickets, I can't help but feel sorry for those willing to spend their hard-earned money on something they really know nothing about. They hardly know the place. But what about the show itself?? Singers?? Who??? Then they will be complaining for the quality or whatever and all that will only hurt ONE name, Michael's. Yes, he is totally innocent on this thing, but see how the media love abusing his name all the time. Should I be surprised at all when his family is doing exactly the same thing, using MJ's name to attrack people?

What a shame.

Totally agree, also they are completely oblivious to the fact that their star has faded years, heck even decades ago, despite of being related to Michael, now of course they can scream from the top of their lungs that ''they created Michael'' that ''Michael became what he became because of them (which isn't true)'' etc but the sad reality is that they are NOT Michael, that they NEVER WERE Michael, that THEY'LL NEVER BE Michael. If it wasn't FOR Michael (not just his death that put them back in the spotlight, but Michael in general), they would have been long long long forgotten.

I think they believe now that Michael is gone, his fans base will turn to them because they share the same last name. They're sadly mistaken. Respect comes from your actions, not your DNA.
The thing is, we were spoiled with Michael. Not only were we used to perfection, but we had sincere love, respect and honesty. They havent shown any of these so far.

very very true

i can't believe that they think fans are so naive and stupid to get along with this

Because they are stupid. STUPID for underestimating the intelligence of Michael's fans.

See how all this is backfiring in their face? You'd think they know by now after years of failed attempts at similar stunts.

after reading the faqs all i could think was man michael would be so pissed at this crap its 1984 in jackson land

I'm just sad that MJ fans could really use something to look forward to, and instead we get things which just always seem to be causing more trouble and negativity for MJ than any help they give.

I have high hopes for the Cirque shows. I am going 3 times!! I really believe it will be the kind of tribute that is fit for a KING!!

I hope his kids get to see the Immortal show...
